Both of mine were 'sposie wearing puree monsters Grin

I did BF for ages though and may have raved about it a lot bit occasionally

..and the study that showed cloth not to be better environmentally was a steaming pile of horse poo that presumed everyone washed them at 90 degrees, tumble dried and ironed their nappies. and didn't use them for more than one baby.

Horse poo.

southeastastra · 14/01/2011 19:40

so it's bad if you use cloth nappies as all the washing is bad for the envionment - and using disposables is also bad for the environment. so they cancel each other out and are equal!!

conniedescending · 14/01/2011 19:40

it is the smuggery yes

and then there seems to be all these weird tie dye knitted things that go over the gigantic bums - called longies and shorties

wtf is that all about

and the names

bumgenius, woolalishous, minki, wee notions

there is lots to loathe about cloth nappies

OP posts:
FluteyBoots · 14/01/2011 19:40

Hear hear Edgar and octo

ravenAK · 14/01/2011 19:40

...whereas mine were bought second hand, have served for all three dc & will shortly be passed on to a MNer...

I am v smug about the ££££s I have saved, but I don't go round nappuchino-ing. What a peculiar idea.

No Astra, no. It's not the same. These things are quantifiable, and cloth nappies win, it's a fact. Fine that people have a choice, but it really has been evaluated.

Meh, Connie, you just sound a little bitter to me.

EdgarAleNPie · 14/01/2011 19:43

anyone want to take me to a coffee shop and try to get me to buy more cloth even though you'll be wasting your time as I have more nappies than you can shake a toddlers bum at and only my third and final baby to wear them is more than welcome.

Mine's a Chai Latte.

conniedescending · 14/01/2011 19:44

seems mandatory to drive a 4x4 when you go to a nappuchino - hence cancelling out any potential environmental edge

OP posts:
FluteyBoots · 14/01/2011 19:48

Tbh most cloth-enthusiasts I have come across are more likely to be driving a hybrid.

MintAeroBar · 14/01/2011 19:50

I EBF
I use (second hand!) cloth
I wear a sling
I use a mooncup
I BLW

HOWEVER I do NOT judge, nor preen, nor get all smuggety.

But then you must totally hate me, so I will blow you a raspberry!! (organic, natch) Wink

MintAeroBar · 14/01/2011 19:51

(I dont have a 4x4 though! OR attend nappucinos (WTF???) )

FluteyBoots · 14/01/2011 19:54

I have never posted about nappies before on MN. The inflammatory OP made me want to extol their virtues.

missorinoco · 14/01/2011 19:55

I am a strange mixture of wanting and not wanting to know what belonging to the jam sponge brigade involves, especially as it's in the same phrase as moon cup.

FluteyBoots · 14/01/2011 19:56

I also have never been invited to a nappuchino. Perhaps I am not in the brigade after all.......

southeastastra · 14/01/2011 19:59

i've known people who do the nappuchino thing it's hardly satanism

catinthehat2 · 14/01/2011 20:00

I avoided all the nappy nonsense and just went straight to litter trays with mine.

2cats2many · 14/01/2011 20:00
Biscuit
conniedescending · 14/01/2011 20:02

oh mintareo you mentioned slings

the sling brigade irriate me too

'babywearing' [vom]

and the slings have weirdy names too

mei tai etc

ChunkyPickle · 14/01/2011 20:03

Bah - cloth nappies are for people who have babies that can't poo in every single one (of a dozen!) that you have in less than a day....

God bless weaning which has it down to once a day, and EC (albeit the wuss version where he wears a nappy all the time which I take off to put him on the potty) which means that that single poo is never in a nappy (although we still have to work on peeing)

MoonUnitAlpha · 14/01/2011 20:03

I couldn't really afford the expense of full time disposable use! I do use them occasionally though.

I haven't found sticking a load of nappies on every couple of days too much of a burden either Hmm

Have treated myself to a couple of lovely Itti Bittis, but the term "fluffy post" made me roll my eyes a bit.
