I find I can get away with being a bit thick because I look good.

AIBU and what would you rather be?

Cortina, where on earth do you work?!!!!

We are so missing out on our 'fondling veg' prizes at my work.

I think the attention for being 'beautiful' is overrated.

I am happy with my looks and am working on oiling my brain again.

The people that I admire and find attractive have something much deeper than a 'pretty shell' (male or female)

I can not watch often enough.

FellatioNelson · 14/01/2011 16:37

That's what I mean LeQueen - it really does come down to millimetres! I've known dozens, hundreds probably, of women who are very very pretty, striking, handsome, sexy, attractive, cute, blah blah but they are all very different to being classicly, properly beautiful.

Also the immediate perception of someone who is very glamorous and highly groomed and artificially enhanced (not just surgery or botox, but hair dye, make up, fake tan etc, etc) is that they are very attractive. But often if you analyse their faces closely, and mentally strip away all glamour the you will see that they are not especially attractive, just attractively presented - which is not the same thing.

xstitch · 14/01/2011 16:43

I aspire to have brains, but perhaps that is because I am an ugly little shit.

AtYourCervix · 14/01/2011 16:46

Is it desperately awful to rather be thin than clever and pretty?

Grin still laughing at LeQueens "I'm Stunning with a high IQ.... but modest!

FellatioNelson · 14/01/2011 17:36

Oh I'd definitely trade a few points off my face to be a natural size 10. No contest.

BodleianBabe · 14/01/2011 17:49

But beauty is only transient and intelligence is for life.

People who think their looks are everything never seem to be really happy because it's all they have and they know it isn't permanent. They spend a lot of time worrying about losing their looks.

I'd rather be beautiful on the inside than the outside.

You know when you are little and you read fairy stories and there are always people who get 3 wishes...

And as a child and a teenager and frankly still nowadays you alwys think what your 3 wishes would be..

for my ENTIRE life wish 1 would be to be thin and wish 2 would be to be beautiful.

Maybe its because I've always been quite smart and clever but never would I have wasted a wish on being cleverer....

I'd always go for intelligence - I love learning new things and exercising my mind - I don't much care what I look like (and actually medical intervention means I have a far from perfect body) I hope I look friendly and approachable but that's all.

Beauty is over rated and very subjective IMO.

KurriKurri · 14/01/2011 18:18

Should also say intelligence is over rated if you are a bastard with it.

I've always felt really embarrassed about my looks- like guff says it was a overnight thing and all this attention came from nowhere. Obviously it's nice in that nobody has ever turned me down and I always get nice service from men etc but I Hate attention, I'm a real introvert and just despise men staring or god forbid approaching me.

I think I did lose out brains wise- my elder sister is incredibly smart but quite big etc and my younger sister is like me -sortof average but pretty looking!

lurkermalurker · 14/01/2011 18:28

Le Queen dont worry I knew you were being funny, It just made me laugh... That type of humour tickles me! Grin

Laquitar · 14/01/2011 18:37

Riven, i think many just don't bother to post. You don't expect the truly inteligent and interesting ones to post :'i'm both and everybody is jelous of me' do you?

2-3 boring posters-the broken record ones- don't represent the population.

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 14/01/2011 18:42

I am neither pretty nor beautiful but have never been comfortable with most of the attention I get either Ladyofthehouse. I hate having attention drawn to my looks or being outrageously complimented. It has never sat easy with me and has caused me heartache from several experiences I have had as a result of that attention.

My Exes initial delight in what he saw as my beauty turned into sad jealousy that others might see me how he did. He even said he preferred me a bit overweight so that other men wouldn't be interested.ShockHmm

I love it when someone (esp male) just doesn't seem to notice and talks to me.
That sounds ungrateful and I am not talking about the kind of attention that intheguff seems to get, For me that would make me miserable. But I am glad it suits you intheguff.

However in myself, I am comfortable with my looks and think my body and face tell my story well. Smile

If you are fairly young and attractive then people assume you are stupid unless you have a certain dragon-like confidence to accompany it. Often to their detriment Grin
