They would look really nice with her outfit but I am old school and do not normally do high heels in kids.

What is the concensus now, will I face a barrage of disapproving looks from other mums if she wears them?

They are top row, second from left

Sorry but NO. They just look like adult shoes and apart from being bad for her feet I think an 8 year old would just look a little silly in them.

Cupofteaplease - those are just the sort of high heels DD is after.

I shall be buying her a pair shortly (and she'll probably wear them a handfull of times before she grows out of them, certainly not enough for me to feel they were good value and not enough to ruin her posture but probably just enough to make a lovely little girl feel a bit special!

What do you make of them OP?

0karen · 13/01/2011 21:30

Oh come on chiefchef, if they wear heels for a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon it is not going to ruin their posture

Onetoomanycornettos · 13/01/2011 21:38

My husband bought my five year old daughter a pair of Monsoon shoes in the sale, sparkly grey with multicolours with a strap/bow across, and a small heel, about 1 inch. I was Shock. I do not like even a small heel on small girls, but I will let her wear them to her next party now they are bought..

So, YABU to make her wear black horrible shoes, but not U to want her to have something special- if the sales are still on, there's probably loads of party stuff still out there.

tazmosis · 13/01/2011 21:44

No definitely not.

Mspontipine · 13/01/2011 21:45

Maybe she could have these

:)

hairyfairylights · 13/01/2011 21:51

No they are horrid.

Gogopops · 13/01/2011 21:52

Sorry but they are vile!

However, what I found with my daughter was that she would desperately want to wear heels to a party (then I'd normally give in after weeks of pestering) only to wear them for a couple of hours and take them off as she couldn't walk in them. I think it's all part of growing up.

I do think they're too old for an 8 yo though.

DeeCeeDee · 14/01/2011 04:13

8 year olds run around at parties, how is she going to run around in heels? Im sure she'll kick them off pretty quick, when she wants to join in the fun. You shouldnt worry what other parents think tho, they arent your judges. You should just do what is reasonable really. An 8 year old doesnt need to wear adult shoes, plenty of time for that.

AngelsOnHigh · 14/01/2011 04:22

They are what we call "Hooker Heels". On an 8 year old girl. You are joking, right?

Not that I'm opposed to the heel as such. My 7 year old DD has a pair of lightweight sparkly things with a small heel that she loves to tap dance in.

onmyfeet · 14/01/2011 06:47

No way would I let an 8 year old wear any heels other than a horseback riding boot. You want honesty? She would look tacky and cheap, and you would make a very bad impression.

Bunbaker · 14/01/2011 07:26

"OK I am going to be stoned to death here but why is it so wrong for pre teens to wear heels?"

While they may look cute, always avoid heels on children's shoes. Not only is it difficult for kids to walk in heels, they are particularly bad for proper foot development.
I lifted this from this website.

And as others have pointed out, they are bad for posture as well.

As for the shoes in question, when I see young girls dressed in inappropriate "sexy" clothing and shoes I think it says more about the parent than the child.

Sorry, but there is no way I would buy "tart's" shoes for an eight year old.

theevildead2 · 14/01/2011 07:35

Blush I'd be a bit judgey....

theevildead2 · 14/01/2011 07:39

*not of the kid btw!

Plonker · 14/01/2011 07:49

Yuck.

No way! Children should not wear heels. It's bad for them and it looks vile ...and yes, I would judge I'm afraid.

gorionine · 14/01/2011 07:51

First and last of secon row ok(ish), first row NO

gorionine · 14/01/2011 07:54

Bunbaker, whoever wrote the link you posted "children do not enjoy uying shoes" have not met my DDs!Grin

Bunbaker · 14/01/2011 07:55

gorionine
But they must have met my DD though Wink

megapixels · 14/01/2011 09:28

I'm Hmm at some of these OTT posts. Sure the shoes are ugly, the style is very inappropriate for a child and heels aren't necessary or suitable for an 8 year old, but dear god, hooker heels??? I think the OP has got the message loud and clear, no need for the OTT reactions.

QueenStromba · 14/01/2011 14:18

Wasn't Divine Brown wearing a pair just like them when her and Hugh Grant got arrested?

Pixieonthemoor · 14/01/2011 14:23

Utterly gopping.

ragged · 14/01/2011 14:29

I would not let DD have them because I'd be worried about them being harmful to her feet & back.
I would not judge them otherwise.

0karen · 14/01/2011 14:54

But ballet dancing is not god for proper foot development neither I am guessing is is skiing, or gymnastics where you hit the floor hard barefoot and I guess a host of other things

While I may wear high heels all the time my DDs will only wear them a fraction of the time,

FabbyChic · 14/01/2011 15:46

None of those shoes are high, and the second from the left top row are the ugliest!

Flats be far better.
