They would look really nice with her outfit but I am old school and do not normally do high heels in kids.

What is the concensus now, will I face a barrage of disapproving looks from other mums if she wears them?

They are top row, second from left

OK I am going to be stoned to death here but why is it so wrong for pre teens to wear heels?

My girls have got boots with heels of an inch, they are 6, does not stop them running or dancing or whatever.

Most of the time they will wear school shoes that are flat so the limited time they do wear their heels it is not going to effect any development

Although given the choice they wouldn't wear shoes at all

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 13/01/2011 17:38

The shoes state 'Girls'... what's the heel height?

I personally don't like them but that's not what you asked. We don't all have the same tastes.

If the heels aren't too high and she's not going to live in them, I'd probably let her for a party.

TheVisitor · 13/01/2011 17:41

Ew. Chavtastic, sorry.

montysorry · 13/01/2011 17:46

Cheap. cheap, cheap. Yuck!

OmniumAndGatherum · 13/01/2011 17:51

Ugh. I don't have a particular problem with heeled shoes for parties and so on (though don't possess any of my own, never mind any for DD), but I would if they looked like that.

abenstille · 13/01/2011 17:53

its a NOOOOOOO

BargainBasement · 13/01/2011 17:57

okaren - because the purpose of high heels is to make women look sexy. Supposedly. Personally I think they look ridiculous and not sexy, but most men seem to disagree with me and find high heels themselves, and the way they cause women to stand and the effect on the way they walk, sexy.

Aims80 · 13/01/2011 17:59

amazonchick et al, I ALWAYS wanted the "Magic Shoes" Ohhhh I remember the pining... here's the ad!

verytellytubby · 13/01/2011 18:03

No.

pranma · 13/01/2011 18:06

quite revolting I'm afraid

woolymindy · 13/01/2011 18:09

they are vile

MarniesMummy · 13/01/2011 19:20

Bargainbasement - there's a limit to how sexy you look if you're wearing age appropriate clothes. Granted the pair of shoes in question are horrid but the heel only looks to be about 1.5 inches which I think is fine for the odd party or two.

The shoes in question though are everything that everyone's politely trying to say, chavvy is putting it mildly.

cupofteaplease · 13/01/2011 19:26

I don't like the shoes in the OP, but my girls who are 5 and 3 each have a pair of glittery silver court shoes with a small, chunky heel. They were from Accessorize and they begged for them as they make a 'clippety-clop' sound when they walk. I was happy to buy them, to be worn for parties/dressing up.

One school mum turned her nose up at them and made a rude and judgemental comment in front of my dd but tbh she came across as the stupid one, not me!

Each to their own, as my mum would say Smile

cupofteaplease · 13/01/2011 19:27

these!

DublinMammy · 13/01/2011 19:29

Shoes for a baby hooker. If you're ok with that then go for it.

LtEveDallas · 13/01/2011 19:43

DD is 5 and I bought the bottom far right ones for our New Years party. She pleaded and pleaded for heels until she broke me! She loved them and promised to only walk in them (no broken ankles from running about)

the heel was about an inch high - any higher would have been ridiculous. Even then after about an hour she had taken them off saying her feet hurt.

lesson learned - there is no point buying heels for children, no matter how much they plead!

sparkle12mar08 · 13/01/2011 19:54

Surely this is a wind up? No mother in their right mind would buy such cheap and nasty shoes for their daughter? If not, grow a backbone, take them back, and admit you made a mistake. It would be a cold, cold day in hell before I allowed my child to wear such tarty things. Can you really not see what they are and everything they represent?

chiefchef · 13/01/2011 20:16

Whats wrong with heels for children?

Posture - ruins it. Heels make you overarch your back, stick bum and stomach out, in order to balance. Because we are not designed as human beings to walk in heels!

Really bad idea to be letting small children do something that adversely affects their posture - they are still growing, bones/joints still forming. Perfect way to make sure they end with back/joint problems as an adult, as well as awful posture.

And maybe just wearing heels every now and then for a party won't hurt, maybe it won't - but I look at the girls in my dd's dance classes and see some awful examples of small girls who already have awful posture, sticking out bottoms, slouchy shoulders, - even when they are trying to stand nicely for the dancing teacher.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 13/01/2011 20:18

no way heels on kids are a complete no no

and those shoes are really hideous

Greythorne · 13/01/2011 20:19

no

penguin73 · 13/01/2011 20:30

Leaving personal opinion of the (horrible)shoes aside if it's a party will she be able to walk/play/dance in them?

penguin73 · 13/01/2011 20:32

Why did that appear twice?! Sorry.

amazonchick · 13/01/2011 20:34

Errrmmm lets get something straight. I have NOT already bought these shoes.

I'm all for the spirit of AIBU and quite willing to get a pasting but ONLY if you read my posts correctly first!!!!

I really am not asking about the style as these are not the same shoes,(although a bit similar) I just want you to look at the heel which is the same.
