Most people seem to be talking of when the baby is come out, the lady on telly was screaming hours and hours before hand... I think to be honest she was getting herself in a right state, making the pain worse... the midwife told her off in the end....I can totally understand if people scream right at the end with pain..

Joobles · 11/01/2011 13:09

I was a grunter and a farter!

monkeyflippers · 11/01/2011 13:13

I made a lot of noise from about 2cms. The contractions were just as painful then as they were at the end!

I assume this is about One Born Every Minute, I suppose they woman felt she needed to scream but I really pitied all the other women who went on to the labour ward at the same time.

I know she scared the shit out of me. (Dh just said why don't we watch this after you have the baby)Grin

lurkermalurker - your point does assume that the pain is always worst right at the end. Whilst I admit that I also thought the woman was getting herself in a state and should have been helped to manage it better, I can state categorically that the pain in my first labour was at its absolute worst when I was entering established labour. Every labour is different and we should all try not to make assumptions based on our own very limited experience.

different strokes for different folks - I suppose screaming could be offputting for the other ladies in the maternity ward (ref One Born Every Minute last night)

then again, who gives a toss about the other ladies..I'm in fucking agony and I want the world to know!

I however sang a beautiful note perfect rendition of Edith Piaf's No Regrets, during every contraction Grin

Then I woke up......
