is there any real need.

I screamed and shouted so much the midwives practically force fed me drugs to shut me up! So what?

FellatioNelson · 10/01/2011 22:07

This is fucking joke isn't it?

FlyingFig · 10/01/2011 22:07

Have you been watching OBEM, OP?

People have different pain thresholds - what feels like Mount Etna erupting from their fanjo to one woman might feel like having a big poo to the next.

Congrats OP...
What is the point of your questions, exactly?

I felt like I was shitting a portable television

So yep. There's a need for vocal accompaniment

suzikettles · 10/01/2011 22:09

I didn't because I'm not much of a shouter in any scenario [weirdo] but good god, childbirth is surely the one time you can scream and shout or swing from a feckin chandelier* if it's what you want to do.

*probably not an ideal birth position tbh

AuntiePickleBottom · 10/01/2011 22:09

medal must of been lost in the post

YABVVVVU.

'I did it whilst humming and smiling and it hardly hurt at all'

Hmm

You don't end up with a better baby if you give birth without screaming .

BecauseItoldYouSo · 10/01/2011 22:09
Biscuit
StuffingGoldBrass · 10/01/2011 22:09

It is more painful for some women than for others, for a variety of reasons (size of baby, size of fanjo, position of baby, individual pain threshold etc). WTF has it got to do with you anyway?>

emmanana · 10/01/2011 22:09

If we can put up with men Shouting at the TV when football is on (or is that just my DH?) then they can put up with a few hours of screaming...

blackeyedsusan · 10/01/2011 22:10

Most of my first labour didn't hurt at all really...mmmm maybe it was something to do with the pethidine, the epidural and breathing enough gas and air that my head was swimming.

Grin ps

If your bottom is pickled it isn't going to hurt as much is it?

Is that the MN Smuggery medal bees?
AuntiePickleBottom, what on earth did you hope to achieve with your post other than pissing off a lot of people?
I had two easy and quick labours, no yelling but some serious grunting, both mine slept all night from 4 weeks, never got ill etc etc.
I've only felt bloody grateful for all of it, and lucky.
If some people need to scream to help them get through stuff, they are perfectly entitled to.
Now if you'd said
'Why do some women scream and shout during sex, is their any real need?' I might have agreed with you.

BaronessBomburst · 10/01/2011 22:12

It hurt so bloody much I couldn't make a sound. I was totally silent. Which is not so handy when you need to tell the midwives something, or they ask you a question, and you can't speak.
