To prefer well groomed people to scruffs?

So, a friend and I were discussing over lunch today how we felt about meeting others that were perhaps less groomed than us.

Where I work, I have to deal with people that perhaps are not the cleanest or look like they have just rolled out of bed and have not even and wash - basic hygiene costs nothing. It makes me go bleugh.

Does this sort of thing bother you or am I being over sensitive?

Maybe they have just got out of bed, you know. Unbrushed hair doesn't bother me, but smelliness isn't nice.

AnyFuleKno · 08/01/2011 21:57

it doesn't bother me in the slightest as long as they don't actively stink

I think it's a rather unimaginative and boring point of view tbh

skankyVswish · 08/01/2011 22:00

Shiney, a bit over ripe and skanky!!

AnyF, sorry I could't think of anything imaginative, but you didn't have to post...

I am suspicious of well-groomed people Wink

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 08/01/2011 22:04

Me too Stase, too well-groomed and I tend to dislike them immediately.

I couldn't give a hoot unless someone actually smells BO-ey.

I tend towards the slobby myself.

flyingvisit · 08/01/2011 22:06

What about not so well groomed but clean?

Hullygully · 08/01/2011 22:07

I admire the well-groomed because they can be bothered.

I admire the scruffs because they don't feel the need.

skankyVswish · 08/01/2011 22:08

I knew you would be well groomed Shiney, I just knew! Grin

I am especially suspicious of well-groomed people who dishevel their hair and wear ready-distressed clothes and footwear. Smile

FabbyChic · 08/01/2011 22:08

What constitutes a scruff please?

If Im only popping to asda quickly I throw my coat on over whatever I am wearing, I brush my hair and teeth and go.

If I am going somewhere specific I put on decent clothes, do my make up.

If I don't need to tart up I don't.

I dress and feel comfortable for me not for others.

I been there and done that, past it all.

Gay40 · 08/01/2011 22:08

I don't like too well-groomed people...they generally turn out to be quite superficial and judgemental.
By scruffs, do you mean dirty, or that studenty look?

TrillianAstra · 08/01/2011 22:10

Be careful making friends with Shiney - we're all a bunch of cunts with barely one brain between us apparently Wink

mutznutz · 08/01/2011 22:12

As others have said...'scruffy' (whatever that is) is fine...smelly is a real no-no.

Mind you one persons 'well groomed' can be another persons OTT and over dressed for every occasion.

You could put me in Dior and have the best hairdresser in the world do my hair and I would still look like a scruffy hippy. Can't help it.

BitOfFun · 08/01/2011 22:16

Oh, I thought you were calling Scruggs flabby and gay. I hate gay being used as an insult.

BitOfFun · 08/01/2011 22:17

Scruffs, sorry Blush
