To never wear a bra?

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 09:05

Apparently women of my age 38....should wear one. This is according to my sister...thing is I have almost nothing to go in one and when I have tried to wear them (properly fitted etc) theyare SO uncomfortable I dispense with it after one wear.

I just wear vests and camisole type things. I don't walk about with dramatically pointy nipples or anything...I make sure I have enough layers on to keep some dignity....but I see no point in a bra when ther's nothing to support!

Isn't that what bra's are for? Support? Or have I misunderstood some unwritten rule of being a woman?

My "boobs" are less than a handful...haven't been measured in ages...they dont sag at all...they just sit there....does EVERYONE on here wear one?

H cup over here [waves!]. I have to wear a bra. But I wouldn't if I were an A. YANBU.

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 08/01/2011 20:08

YANBU

If I could get away without wearing a bra, I would. Alas, as a 38DD, I need all the scaffolding support I can get.

nappyaddict · 08/01/2011 20:20

Do they jiggle when you run?

If not YANBU but I wouldn't really like to see a bra-less woman jiggling all over the place.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 20:35

I don't think they jiggle...

[Does little rebellious tit dance to see if they bounce]

I'm fairly sure mine jiggle when I walk. If that bothers people they can look away (why would they be looking at my breasts in any case?). The jiggle wouldn't really be perceptible except in the summer when I mostly wear t-shirts, when you can probably see my nipples too (just the shape mind!). But then my breasts are probably fairly close in size to a large man boob and I don't see anyone saying men should war bras (although I guess there are those who might think that Grin)

Jellykat · 08/01/2011 20:59

YANBU -I don't wear one, just Sloggi comfort tops, which are cotton lycra. I don't need anymore support then that.

I tried an underwire bra once, but when i reached up,Urgh,it ended up practically around my neck, there wasn't enough stopping its'path.

I'm 47, and my boobs aren't heading south at all! Smile

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 21:05

Yes nooka...plus people's bottoms wobble and I don't see them being advised to wear a buttock bra!

That's what happens to me jellykat! Nothing to keep them from riding up!

YANBU - tell your sister to mind her own business!

Teenyweenytadpole - try Bravissimo's nightwear, it's really quite good.

nappyaddict · 08/01/2011 21:31

I just think wearing a bra makes them look nicer.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 21:35

I think it depends on your boobs nappyaddict. Grin

This is a message from your breasts:

please look after us, we want to be snug and supported, no hanging loose

Aloneinthehouse · 08/01/2011 21:48

I would love to be braless and am very Envy at you although I do love my boobs, my boys said they look like jelly Blush when I was getting dressed and I wear a bra all the time, when I don't they tend to feel heavy and uncomfortable

Enjoy your freedom and perky boobs :o

OracleOfDelphinium · 08/01/2011 21:51

Lordy, I'd be so thrilled if mine ever jiggled in any situation. Given that they don't (and, indeed, are barely visible even when I am not wearing anything at all), I am firmly in the bra-less brigade. I did once get fitted for one, but I detested the feeling of it.

tyler80 · 08/01/2011 21:59

RevoltingPeasant I'm glad you mentioned that, I was a bit Hmm when someone said you have to wear a bra to stop your nipples showing because sometimes my nipples are still on show (not literally!) even with a bra.

This has just reminded me that La Senza used to sell plastic nipples so you could go for the erect nipple look all the time Shock. I wonder if they still do

MittzsBreasts · 08/01/2011 22:03

Dear Trills.. thank you for your good advice Smile. We have to say we are generally well cared for but do like to swing free sometimes. It is liberating and even nicer in the sunshine.
We hope you are having a,lovely evening Wink

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 22:10

While we're comparing them..does anyone know if little ones are more sensitive in the nip region? I ask because mine are hideously sensitive...as in cannot bear to be tweaked or touched or anything...I once had a mate with similar sized boobs and she was the same...maybe that's part of why I cannot cope with a bra.

am not a pervy troll but regular poster btw!

Littlefish · 08/01/2011 22:11

Actually, I disagree RevoltinPeasat - I don't think it is appropriate to be able to see women's nipples showing through their clothes. It's like wearing a seethrough skirt and pants and flashing your minge as far as I'm concerned.

I have a dear friend who is about 45. She doesn't wear a bra, but wears often white linen shirts or white t shirts, so her nipples etc. are very clearly outlined and visible by their shape. I think this is incredibly unprofessional in her work life.

Obviously, what she chooses to do in her private life is up to her, but I know that people find it very distracting when they are talking to her.

Littlefish · 08/01/2011 22:12

Actually, I think I feel like that about all nipples, not just women's nipples.

TrillianAstra · 08/01/2011 22:12

Grin at Mittz's breasts

WimpleOfTheBallet · 08/01/2011 22:13

I think seeing my nipples clearly would be like seeinng a mans bits outlined in his pants...if he were going commando and wearing tracksuit bottoms..as my Drama eacher did in secondary school. He was a roten old perve!

nappyaddict · 08/01/2011 22:15

I don't mind being able to see the outline of nipples but I don't like seeing erect nipples poking through.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/01/2011 22:18

I don't wear a bra all the time,
I should - I have huge boobs, but I don't want to, they wobble, they jiggle, and they sag but it is no bodies business but mine.

Stase · 08/01/2011 22:19

Rofl at buttock bra Grin

nooka · 08/01/2011 22:19

I'm not talking about wearing clothes through which someone can see my areola, which I agree would be a bit off putting, just the shape of the nipple should they for some reason go hard.

nooka · 08/01/2011 22:20

Although after nappyaddict's last post I am imagining someone wearing peephole t-shirts with little holes for their nipples to pock through {grin}
