To never wear a bra?

Apparently women of my age 38....should wear one. This is according to my sister...thing is I have almost nothing to go in one and when I have tried to wear them (properly fitted etc) theyare SO uncomfortable I dispense with it after one wear.

I just wear vests and camisole type things. I don't walk about with dramatically pointy nipples or anything...I make sure I have enough layers on to keep some dignity....but I see no point in a bra when ther's nothing to support!

Isn't that what bra's are for? Support? Or have I misunderstood some unwritten rule of being a woman?

My "boobs" are less than a handful...haven't been measured in ages...they dont sag at all...they just sit there....does EVERYONE on here wear one?

Nooka I think we are saying yes to all being covered up for the sake of modesty in the workplace - male and female, tops and bottoms.

And my female co-worker had visibly hairy nipples poking through a sheer t- shirt braless, to be fair she was very hirsute she had her hairy back on show a lot too.

I remember a male buyer in another fashion office being sent home for wearing in to the office a pair of white cotton stretchy sheer cycling shorts with no underwear, and a cropped vest top. But a female buyer in the same company wore a short shift dress with no bra and a thong, when she bent over and the dress gaped you could see right through her dress to the carpet! Don't remember HR calling her in though.

Maybe I'm too old to work in fashion anymore Confused

Maybe the fashion in fashion is to push the boundaries in weird ways? But then lots of women wear see through tops with clearly visible bras and that's pretty ugly looking too (bras in general being unappealing items of clothing).

I agree that standards for men and women should be similar, but covering up and modesty mean very different things to different people. I dress in a fairly androgynous way most of the time, and don't show much flesh (I get cold easily!) but my nipples are visible probably on a fairly regular basis in the summer when I mostly wear t-shirts to work (like the men I work with, although they also seem to go in for polo shirts) and occasionally get cold. I would be furious if someone said that I had to wear a bra for "modesty" , and I suspect that it would be sexual discrimination too.

But you tend not to see men's nipples when they are cold because they were loose fitting tshirts. Women's clothes tend to be more fitting so cold nipples show through more prominently.

Sloggi Double Comfort all-elasticated - sheer bliss!

I for one would love it if men wore clothing that revealed more of their packages. Or maybe codpieces. they're quite eye catching, and that would be the equivalent of a cock bra wouldn't it? Bring back codpieces!

YADDDDNBU.

If you can go without a bar I literally virtually demand (heh! See what I did there!) that you don't.

And that you wear haltner necks and racer backs in summer.

AND

I am neither male nor small breasted.
I have big boobs and wish I could (even just once) go braless!

I'm am virtully in love with Audrey Tatou (who, even if she is outrageously beautiful) wears a gorgeous halterneck dress, and then spagetti strap top with flared trousers to such effect in the channel outfit.

I look great in v necked things and rather than get annoyed or do the grass is always greener thing, I love to see well dressed bra less women.

If you got it (whichever viewpoint you have) flaunt it!!

MarniesMummy · 10/01/2011 14:15

You know I meant bra not bar, right?

MarniesMummy · 10/01/2011 14:17

channel advert.

I need a secretary, I think faster than I type. (not hard when you type as badly as I do)

WimpleOfTheBallet · 11/01/2011 18:08

I love halter necks MarniesMummy...and I love the Audrey Tatou ad too...but I certainly don't look an iota as good as she does!

YANBU. If you're under a b-cup there's no need at all.
