You know some posters tend to enter a thread with "Well I'm a Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Head Teacher" or whatever...well do you give their post any more creedence because of it or do you just disregard it completely and read what they have to say as if they'd never mentioned it?

Bearing in mind any of us can be anything we claim to be?

Thanks in advance

I find it hard to lie on here inorder to preserve anonimity when I need to. So, I namechange and still fail to achieve the above.

You can believe me, every word.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 08/01/2011 01:54

well, I'm really called Boo and i really do love it when you call me it Wink

is martha ok?!

GabbyLoggon · 08/01/2011 11:46

tomhardy
None of us can really "work each other out"
because human beings are complex.. Nobody coughs the lot...Some marriages are successful because partners sensibly dont dig too deep...(I dont mean sexually)

PROFESSIONALS? they can often be recognised by the dryness of their writing.
Which is often gramatically correct. (And too self assured)

QUEENS first line makes sense.

MUTZ..I thank him for putting up this interesting question; in such a modest way.

30 per cent of us are fibbing? Its as good a GUESS as any.

Do you know the following saying ? The greatest lies are told in silence.(Its probably true)

Personally, I dont come here to tell lies.
Fibbers have to have chuffin good memories.

I am talking about fibbing about FACTS...
opinions are just opinions.
I will be nicking the MUTZ question and using it elsewhere. (Thats the sincerest form of flattery)

cheers "Gabby" in the Mild Midlands.

tethersend · 08/01/2011 11:48

I always lie.

mutznutz · 08/01/2011 11:49

Mutz is a she...not a he Lol

One point you raised there about fibbers having to have good memories...on a site like this where you can change your name constantly whenever you want to, I don't really think you do have to have a good memory.

I understand it all so much better now.

flyingvisit · 08/01/2011 11:54

I am a hopeless liar.
I just spent about half an hour with some man at the door trying to sell roofing, er, stuff. I started off by saying we dont own the house (lie) and he kept asking me questions. It went on when he asked who did and could he contact them "umm, i said, i dont know, my husband deals with that" then he asked where he was and when he'd be home so I lied again "he will be back next week". So it went on...the man kept badgering me about who owned the house so I eventually said "well its a strange set -up, we did own the house but are in the process of selling and er, emigrating so are doing the renting thing beforer we leave. (Oh god, he then asked me where)...Australia i said...perth (FGS).
Cue a large conversation about Perth (never been there in my goddam life)

WHY THE HELL DIDNT I JUST SAY NO THANKS.

Moral of the story is Im a rubbish liar and its pretty obvious when stories become greater and greater.

mutznutz · 08/01/2011 11:56

That's so funny flying I was exactly the same when I first moved out and got my own home...now I just give a big smile and a firm 'no thank you' whilst closing the door.

Mutz
The gender information is good news ,Mutz
I will try and remember in future me duck
(as we say in these parts.) LoL

the point you make about Mumsnet sites is true. I wont repeat it so as mot to encourage it....

I like tethers comment, he does not mean it.
"Gabby" on fire. (Not literally)

usualsuspect · 08/01/2011 12:04

Has tethers had a sex change ?

Thingumy · 08/01/2011 12:16

Gabby thinks we are all male, don't think he grasps the concept of 'mumsnet'.

GabbyLoggon · 08/01/2011 12:17

I like flyings first line. I would take it further with persistent door salespersons..

"Do you realise I have fought in 4 world wars and; have a degree in onion peeling; and dont want to listen to you trying to sell me a 1939 condom retreader. Please leave my back passage immediately"

(just for the record, I do live down a passage)

AlpinePony · 08/01/2011 12:27

YABVU.

The law of mn is thus: should you take anyone at face value you will be subjected to a diatribe of "but you don't know meeeee.... " - should you take in to account their previous bleatings you will be subjected to a diatribe of "i can't believe you're stalking me across the interweb - I'm going to report you to SS and Tesco".

GabbyLoggon · 08/01/2011 12:31

Yes. thingy...I do get gender wrong here on occasions Not maliciously...I take it most people here are female. But I dont thik its too big an issue. (Unless you are desperate for a pee)

I wont suggest creating one gender for mumsnet..but someone may. The main thing is we are all human beings.

The problem is if we keep bitching/dogging at a personal level; the mumsnet sites flop
on the issues level. The subject gets lost in the squabble...I dont mean car "dogging"

Any Questions? (BBC Posh/4) featured Mumsnet last night None of us were mentioned. Bloody criminal. I pay my license(?) cheers "gabby"

MargaretGraceBondfield · 08/01/2011 12:32

Lynli · 08/01/2011 12:55

I have never told any lies on here. I thought that was the point, anonymity no need to lie.

I have in fact revealed more to MN than my DH, it gave me the opportunity to talk about things I found hard to in RL.

I don't think many people lie, but as in RL there will always be some weird ones.

BuzzLightBeer · 08/01/2011 12:56

I just actually LOL'ed at gabbys back passage remark Blush
