I think I have been, re DH and DS1's birthday party

DS1 was 14 on Tuesday. We are taking some friends to play laser tag on Sunday and the home for food and cake. Didn't want to do it on Saturday as DD has a riding lesson and it would mean rushing around like a mad thing to fit it all in. Could have done it Sunday afternoon but then it would run into Sunday evening chores (baths, packed lunches, inevitable last minute hw Hmm). So I booked it on Sunday morning and told DH today.

Problem is DH plays footie on Sunday am and there has only been one match for about a month. But there has hardly been a day over Christmas when Dh hasn't been out in the evenings for an hour or so, and has watched matches in the pub or at a friends' house. He managed to avoid a few family visits that way. All of which is fine in moderation but I think he took the piss personally this time.

I could change it to Sunday afternoon but as it would just increase the stress factor for me I don't want to. And I suspect I am trying to give him a subtle slap on the wrist - which isn't really like me.

DH didn't complain but looked a bit sorry for himself. So AIBU and selfish?

No, you didn't tell me that.

When did we decide that then?

I Can't Smell Anything

That one is a bit of a worry

bupcakesandcunting · 07/01/2011 17:14

I love "I Can't Smell Anything"

It Is Where YOU Left It, I Don't Use It

Why Did You Put Your Handwash Only Jumper Into The Washing Basket With All Of The Other Stuff Instead Of Leaving It At The Side Like I Fecking Ask?

bloomingnora · 07/01/2011 17:19

We are currently playing "No, DS2 Has Not Woken Up". I am winning. Dh is starting to twitch.

mayorquimby · 07/01/2011 17:19

sweet. sorry just read first page.
string him up.
Although if he's any sort of real man he'll tell her not to worry and of course he'll skip the match and help out with the party

mayorquimby · 07/01/2011 17:20

then he'll go and play anyway thereby completely merking her.

football > Women and kids party.
Although
laser tag > women too.

Hullygully · 07/01/2011 17:21

What, Pray, Makes You Think That That Is Remotely Helpful?

bupcakesandcunting · 07/01/2011 17:22

You can break him, Nora! You can do it!

Hullygully · 07/01/2011 17:22

Go Nora!

bloomingnora · 07/01/2011 17:28

Dammit DS2 has now gone back to sleep. I'd put my bathrobe on and everyfink.

My all time favourite is "I Am Still Asleep". We play this every single morning.

Although many of these come under the umbrella game of I Am Not Your Mother.

Oh yes, the Uber Game

JamieLeeCurtis · 07/01/2011 17:30

mayor - thus leaving things at a bit of an impasse

Does laser tag> football? Let us hope for Orm's sake that it does

bupcake:

Just A Half should be more accurately named

Coming Home Now. Just One more Half (pint). AKA Staggering In Burping At Midnight

JamieLeeCurtis · 07/01/2011 17:32

also (and I am the mistress of this one) : Can You Just?

JamieLeeCurtis · 07/01/2011 17:34

Also what is "merking" Has it anything to do with merkins?

bloomingnora · 07/01/2011 17:34

DH is very good at In A Minute and I Was Just.

mayorquimby · 07/01/2011 17:40

haha sorry I've been using "merking" in jest ever since that diabolical Rio Ferdinand show which suggests that getting one over on someone else means you've "merked" them. I think it's a london/grime thing.
as for the laser tag football thing.
Football > Laser tag in general

but due to the regularity of opportunities to play football v laser tag it may trump it on occassion if it was say 5-a side football or just a kick about with mates. However a club match > laser tag.
Especially at the moment, I haven't had a club match since the end of november due to weather/holidays/cautious county councils

JamieLeeCurtis · 07/01/2011 17:45

oh dear, I expect all the pent-up adrenaline will mean you will have to beat someone up

bupcakesandcunting · 07/01/2011 18:10

mayorquimby - down wiv da kidz. Innit.

The Washing Up Won't Do Itself.

I am particularly fond of playing -

I Promise I'll be Quick.

Bogeyface · 07/01/2011 19:11

Dont Bother, I'll Do It Myself

Ormirian · 07/01/2011 19:32

Sorry but nothing can beat the classic silent Hmm. Or even the half-suppressed sigh.

I have never played laser tag but I think I might enjoy it. I have played football (well sort of when a bit drunk with a fag in one hand) and I didn't much enjoy it. So IMO laser tag > football.

Ormirian · 07/01/2011 19:36

Oh and in case anyone is still interested in DH's teeth, I sort of said sorry for forgetting about the football and he said it's OK really because DS1's birthday is more important.

And the match has been cancelled.

Hmm

Best of all I get to have a whole 3 hours to myself because to cheer DS2 up we have arranged for him to go to a friend's house for day. Hurrah!

OP posts:
bupcakesandcunting · 07/01/2011 19:40

Cheer yourself up by punching all his teeth in.

JamieLeeCurtis · 07/01/2011 20:40

All's well that ends well.

It has enabled us to while away a few hours in inane witty banter
