EXP sent me some photos he took of our dcs on Xmas day, some in my house and some in his mum's house. in the ones in his mum's house his mum is wearing a very short sexy santa outfit with alot of cleavage on show, black fishnets and black knee high stiletto boots. i would have no problem with this if it was just her and her DH but this was with her children and grandchildren there for the day. i can't help thinking, tehre's a time and a place and Xmas dinner with the whole family isn't it.

How old is this woman?

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 19:44

41 why?

OP posts:
HeroShrew · 05/01/2011 19:44

crikey! If it was past the watershed I'd have said good on 'er but round the table with grandchildren present that'd give them nightmares Shock

charliesmommy · 05/01/2011 19:44

If she is under 45, and looks ok in it then YABU, if she is 75 and looks ridiculous then YANBU..

seriously though.. having granny dressed up as a sexy santas helper really isnt going to do the kids any harm...

did she spend the whole day dressed like this? was it for a laugh?

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 19:45

it does kind of put me off keeping the photos of teh dcs with their toys.

geezmyfeetarecold · 05/01/2011 19:45

I just pictured a granny as older
But she is younger than me

Lulumaam · 05/01/2011 19:45

sounds tacky and stupid rather than dangerous IFYSWIM

I wouldn't do anything TBH, if that is how she wants to dress and I can;t imagine it was terribly sexy or enticing, then that's her thing, in her house.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 19:46

i have ni idea if it was for a laugh or not. knowing her husband i imagine it was his suggestion and knowing her i imagine she cowtowed

This is just some misguided 'fancy dress' I fear, and not remotely sexualised - as she would see it.
It all sounds a bit sad though...

OTheHugeManatee · 05/01/2011 19:46

Naff, yes. Inappropriate? Meh.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 19:46

I'm not going to do anything at all. i just think it's a bit 'yuck' with the chidlren and grandchildren there.

Firawla · 05/01/2011 19:47

can you not just crop the pics a bit if you want your dcs pics and she is in the background?
but yanbu the outfit doesnt seem ideal

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 19:48

no, the photos are of my dcs sitting on her knee or standing in a way that she would still be in them.

My step-granny was like this. I was 7 or 8 when she paraded around in a negligee and fluffy mules at a family occasion. I remember feeling really uncomfortable and still think back with a grimace. My Dad really didn't know where to look!

diddl · 05/01/2011 19:48

Are her own children young enough to find it funny & the GC too young to care?

ShowOfHands · 05/01/2011 19:48

It was very cold on Christmas Day. Was she wearing a cardie?

Goblinchild · 05/01/2011 19:48

How old are the children? Old enough for them to know or care what granny looks like?
I see a lot of women in their 40s with cleavage on show, and boots although it's usually summer.

ChippingIn · 05/01/2011 19:49

i would have no problem with this if it was just her and her DH - how kind of you Hmm

I don't see why it's any of your business tbh. Your kids are just going to see Granny dressed up like Santa's helper and not think anything of it and as for her son and the rest of her family...that's her call.

It's not an outfit I'd wear for a family do - but I don't think it's really a problem either if she's comfortable enough in her own skin to do so.

TrillianAstra · 05/01/2011 19:49

I don't think it's exactly 'inappropriate', nothing bad happened while your children were there.

It is massively tacky though.

friedtoacrisp · 05/01/2011 19:49

Sometimes I can scarce believe what I read here. Was it a fetish session? A bit of Christmas BDSM? No? Did she have nipple clamps on and crotchless lacy knickers? Still no?
Seriously OP - you so need to lighten up. You're in real danger of spontaneous combustion due to being outraged over everything!

Besom · 05/01/2011 19:49

I agree that a fancy dress misfire is the most likely explanation here. A bit weird though.

charliesmommy · 05/01/2011 19:49

41? wow, thats so old.. she ought to be in her twinset and pearls.. not wearing knee high boots...

disgraceful!!!

and cleavage too? on display?

shameful...

i think it's teh idea that her and her husband are getting kicks out of this when the dcs are there. her dc range from 15 to 24 and mine are 5 and 19 months, so youngest too young to notice.

OP posts:
unfitmother · 05/01/2011 19:52

Sounds a bit sad but I don't see how it could harm your dcs.
