on how to deal with dh,

My H went out last night with a friend, and ended up being stuck in a car for 3 hours, as H fell asleep in the car, and instead of his mate bringing him home, his mate continued to party and left dh stuck in a car park, locked in a car Angry.

firstly my H doesn't drink, its his first drink in over 5 years, so this is completely out of character, and just not him at all.

Im furious because I "think" his mate was drink driving, and dh even tho intoxicated got into a car with a wasted person, and ended up being stranded in a car in a car park in the middle of nowhere. Im furious as he was only going to our local for the last bell.

We finally got him out the car at 5.30 this morning, after other wife eventually got through to her H, who said my H was fine, he wasn't, H was crying, frightened and confused as by this point he was stuck in the car for 4 hours, and he couldn't break any of the windows, or get out etc...

I cant believe him and his mate potentially endangered others lives.

Mates wife has phoned the police, (alot of reasons, but think this incident in the last straw for their relationship) however Im not sure how to deal with my wankard off a husband.

Im furious and cant think straight!

Christ!

Isn't the bloke allowed to have a life ?

He doesn't normally drink but he fancied one and got shitfaced.. Whoopydo! It's hardly the end of the world is it!

He probably lied about being locked in the car 'cos he was out partying having a great time.

Shimmerysilverglitterybaubles · 03/01/2011 11:42

Well sorry but he sounds like a first class chump! I am afraid it just doesn't ring true to me. I have an 11 year old Rover and my four year old would know how to get out of it if locked in. Meh!

mumbar · 03/01/2011 11:43

I actually feel sorry for your DH. As a non-drinker myself I can see how it would be easy to have 1 too many and the effects are worse when you do not normally do it.

If he was cold, confused and crying then he has already been punished.

I think your anger comes out of the fact you were very worried about him.

Explain it to him and move on.

Shimmerysilverglitterybaubles · 03/01/2011 11:45

Oh and btw you sound really stern and controlling, poor DH I say, reckon he wishes he was still stuck in the car!

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 03/01/2011 11:54

YABU your DH sounds a complete drip not being able to get himself out of a car BUT he is allowed out. Isn't he? God the number of times I've said I would be back by X time and rolled up 2-3 hours later. You knew he was with a mate so I am really not seeing your problem at all. So what if he doesn't drink. It's a lifestyle choice in his case, not because he can't drink.

Punished enough IMO, go give him a hug and maybe try and man him up a little bit.

K12Mom · 03/01/2011 11:55

Give the poor guy a break. We all do stoopid things once in a while, and it sounds like he's learned his lesson.

Move on.

furiouswife · 03/01/2011 11:55

Hmm AT COW.

DH has came down and apologized, he knows his behaviour was unacceptable and reckless, even he doesn't condone his actions "just because he was intoxicated" or that its OK because its "just a one off"

He knows their actions could have potentially killed someone, or killed themselves, hes not happy with himself, or that he has keep his family up for the whole night!

So you were on the phone to him for the 4 hours he was stuck in the car? Or just from the time he woke up?

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 03/01/2011 11:57

Phone? Why didn't he have a mobile on him? Is he allowed a mobile, or does he have to wait until he's a big boy?

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 03/01/2011 12:00

Ah missed the phone. So you knew where he was. Why was his family kept up all night then if you knew where he was. I'd have gone to bed, great big girls blouse ffs.

Bit mean making him sleep on the sofa though. He's spent the night locked in a car crying in sub zero temperatures and you won't let him go to bed? Poor bugger.

Shimmerysilverglitterybaubles · 03/01/2011 12:00

Sheesh you sound like a right pair of Drama Queens.

furiouswife · 03/01/2011 12:02

I woke him up by phoning him to tell him to get home, (he was supposed to take his GF to his hospital appointment this afternoon, however he cant as he will be over the limit) so was on the phone to him most of the time, until mates sister arrived.

Awww, bless his poor little cold socks.

YOU sound lovely to live with, 'shrewish' springs to mind....

mutznutz · 03/01/2011 12:05

It does seem a little odd...how long was he asleep for during the 4hrs and why on earth didn't he just lay back and give the door an almighty kick with both feet?

I'm sure he'd manage it if the car was on fire or something?

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 03/01/2011 12:05

Anyone else finding it absolutely fucking hilarious that a grown man cried because he got stuck in a car?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 03/01/2011 12:07

Think i'd ave cried too Sarah, bloody hate being cold ------> That's my cold face Xmas Sad

diddl · 03/01/2011 12:07

"Anyone else finding it absolutely fucking hilarious that a grown man cried because he got stuck in a car?"

Yes Grin. Sobbing out of sheer terror of his wife more like I would think having read all op's stern posts.

lottiejenkins · 03/01/2011 12:09

gf??? he has a girlfriend as well as a wife???Confused

furiouswife · 03/01/2011 12:09

Im finding the whole situation bizarre also, however he was stuck in the car, and couldn't get out, wife's just been on the phone, the car has a cracked windscreen, and the doors are all kicked in, and busted, etc... dh has told friend to send the bill Angry for the repairs.

OP posts:
SheWillBeLoved · 03/01/2011 12:10

Unless someone saw/heard him cry, I'd be inclined to believe that the crying was fabricated to gain some sympathy points Wink

Well, I'd hope so any way Grin if I was that pissed and stuck in a car, I think I'd just crawl into the back and fall to sleep hoping that somebody found me before I turned into a dribbling ice sculpture.

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 03/01/2011 12:11

I wondered about the GF too. I decided it was GrandFather. Of course GirlFriend would add a whoooole new dimension to this thread

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 03/01/2011 12:11

GF?

furiouswife · 03/01/2011 12:12

"he was supposed to take his GF to his hospital appointment this afternoon"

Granfather!!!!

Anyway dh knows he was completely being a wanker by his action!, and tbf, if I was stuck in a car in the pitch black I would be crying and being panicked also.
