to think new posters shouldn't be ridiculed?

I'm not being unreasonable in any way, I'm just getting sick of new posters who aren't sure of the way the land lies getting ripped into by threads full of frothing "I'm better than you because I can spell" up their arse Mumsnetters. Being able to spell or not means nothing. Do people really think they are superior over someone just because they can spell better? Newsflash: you aint.
Now froth away, I'm not wrong so don't give a shit

KindleTheSky · 02/01/2011 15:57

whats sladding?

ilythia · 02/01/2011 15:57

I once started a thread called the 'bad mood thread' specifically for me to have a rant and a rage as I was having a crappy time, and got told off and 'advised' on how to deal with my 'anger issues' and that I shouldn't be posting if I couldn't say nice things.

ZZZenAgain · 02/01/2011 15:57

sladding is a whole lot worse than LOL

KindleTheSky · 02/01/2011 15:58

we have straw on the floor in my house ... don't ask. It really wouldn't be sanitary to roll on it though.

ZZZenAgain · 02/01/2011 15:58

kindle you numpty you are responsible for the sladding

go back and check your posts

lol (and yes the LOL stands)

NewYearNewPants · 02/01/2011 15:58

I haven't particularly noticed new posters being ridiculed, tbh.

so YABU.

spikeycow · 02/01/2011 15:59

Well I'm going to start LOLing aswell. Fuck it

KindleTheSky · 02/01/2011 16:00

ilythia · 02/01/2011 16:02

I did not tell them to piss off kindle. NO way was my language so refined.

ilythia · 02/01/2011 16:02

Is a slad a sad slag?

ZZZenAgain · 02/01/2011 16:03

lol at being told to only post something nice or not post on a "Bad mood thread"

he he
I missed that one

ilythia · 02/01/2011 16:04

I like it when I namechange for no real reason and start getting picked on, and then people who click it is 'me' defend me, and point out my previous name, and then everyone is lovely.
Sycophantic nobbers.

Newbies can be treated like shit on here.

KindleTheSky · 02/01/2011 16:06

I get that as well. I have name changed recently [twirl]

spikeycow · 02/01/2011 16:06

"If you don't like it you don't have to post here"

There is an awful lack of respect to others on here, particularly when someone doesnt agree with another persons views and feel they have the right to become downright rude and aggresive to said person.

usualsuspect · 02/01/2011 16:09

Ah but that all depends on the other persons veiws

ZZZenAgain · 02/01/2011 16:10

some people's views though....

ilythia · 02/01/2011 16:10

have a snurk

ZZZenAgain · 02/01/2011 16:11

a-ha we are thinking on the same lines there usualsuspect

Some people can rile you with their manner/views so much though, so very much. Offhand I can't think of a specific example (as uusual) but it happens.

Cheese for instance. Some people are so distaining of cheese. Not all cheese is bad

Tangchi · 02/01/2011 16:11

I am fairly new to MN and have such mixed feelings about it. On one level it was welcome company in the lonely world of being at home with a little one. But the very strong felt opinions about the correct way of looking after a baby Made me feel that I really didn't fit in (I ff, dd in her own room from 6 weeks, weaned at 20 weeks ect). Normally wouldn't dream of posting in AIBU despite loving reading it. I also think you see the best and worst of human nature. My Dh thinks it's addictive quote tittle tattle but something draws me to it on a daily basis

jugglingjo · 02/01/2011 16:12

I discovered MN a few weeks ago, and couldn't possibly just lurk - just not in my character, it's all too tempting ! Have been addicted to another forum for a couple of years, but as it's a New Year time to take up a new bad habit Wink

I got a bit of a flaming on a thread about a dog hit by a child, when someone said what if it was DH hitting DD. And I said, yes but it wasn't. And a dog wasn't a human etc. Some people hated that !

Really no need for anyone to hit a dog or a child !

As a new poster there are a lot of things I haven't necessarily got my head around yet. Including accessing old threads etc. But really, why shouldn't I just dive in as the mood takes me. It's more of a living, continuously evolving thing I feel.
An opportunity to engage with people as well as issues.

I don't really want to read what someone said last year about parking. If it's bugging me, I'd rather talk to someone else who's bugged by it now !

Hope we get some response from the BBC regarding their Christmas Eastenders offering, as it's offended many on here.
Hope MNHQ will take up the cause.

I know I can be terrible at going off on tangents, but that's partly because I don't really see the problem. To me everyone's post is equally as valuable as the OP's !
But, OK, I guess you need some line of discussion !

By the way, what does a biscuit mean ?
I thought to start with it might be a boob Hmm

ilythia · 02/01/2011 16:17

biscuit means 'I have nothing to say to you'

Which is weird, as you could also just not say anything...

Began after Brown was in fr a webchat and people started demanding to know what his favourite biscuit was (shallow? us?) and he 'woudlnt' answer. When it turned out he hadn't seen the question.

But I thought it was a BFing boob as well.
