I was crying too

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse · 31/12/2010 16:51

Oh is it on tv now?

ilovesooty · 31/12/2010 16:51

I'm usually crying before she's reached the top of the hill and burst into song.

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse · 31/12/2010 16:52

I could watch it while moving mouldy things around the floor (which is called 'tidying up for beginners and the domestically impaired')

SpringHeeledJack · 31/12/2010 16:52

that's what it's for

...just wait for the bit where Christopher Plummer sings Edelweiss

GrimmaTheNome · 31/12/2010 16:52

There's something wrong with you if you don't cry (or at least get a bit damp-eyed) watching The Sound of Music.

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 31/12/2010 16:52

Oh no, definitely not. I am happily singing to the Lonely Goatherd now that I have the house to myself. I will cry again later though, I love crying in films Xmas Blush

galleyslave · 31/12/2010 16:52

Oh god thank you for this thread

Sobs

Bucharest · 31/12/2010 16:53

lol- was just about to say, the Baron hasn't sung Edelweiss yet.
It's that little break in his voice....Wahhhhhh.

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse · 31/12/2010 16:53

IMPORTANT THING IS NOT TO WATCH IT ON iPAD

As that doesn't look even slightly like tidying up

Not that anyone is watching me

I hope? Hmm

RockinRobinBird · 31/12/2010 16:53

Am watching but my voice has gone so I can't sing :( Have you ever heard Louis Armstrong singing the Lonely Goatherd? Hmm

Bucharest · 31/12/2010 16:54

This Christmas has been a fab tear-fest though.
ET, Dances With Wolves.....Sound of Music.

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 31/12/2010 16:54

He's singing Eidelweiss now

AlexaMulberry · 31/12/2010 16:54

Edelweiss :,(

galleyslave · 31/12/2010 16:54

ohhh singing it now...passes round the tissues

DuffyMoon · 31/12/2010 16:55

its fab - until Rolf and the Nazi's come for the family....have on subtitles and doing my best to embarrass dd2 Xmas Grin

Bucharest · 31/12/2010 16:55

Not with the Nazis watching though.
It's that version that kills me.

Bucharest · 31/12/2010 16:56

Of course Johnny Boden would never have come up with Hotchpotch had Maria not had at those curtains with her pinking shears....

oh and now they are dancing and you can see they are falling in love......sigh.....

SpringHeeledJack · 31/12/2010 17:01

ooh, can I piss on the thread's chips a bit?

I saw the "x years on"- can't remember how many- when they got all the von Trapp kids back together again, and it was heartbreaking

I particularly remember Liesl- when the interviewer asked her "why do you think Maria fall in love with Captain von Trapp?" - she answered "money". "Why did the Captain fall in love with Maria?"- she just shrugged, and said "young"

bwwwwwwwhhhhhhaaaaaaahhhhh

SpringHeeledJack · 31/12/2010 17:01

tsk

fell in love

BitOfFun · 31/12/2010 17:01

Oh, I think the Baroness is about to gracefully bow out...
