It is pure cheese, the guides do quizzes and everything. Its great fun. Salzburg is stunning as well. Everywhere you look it's Mozart or nuns!

DuffyMoon · 31/12/2010 17:35
  • oh stop it......sounds perfect
SuePurblybiltbyElves · 31/12/2010 17:36

SIgn me up for the trip and DD, we love SoM. I'll be the one dressed as a nun.

GabbyLoggon · 31/12/2010 17:37

Its a very impressive film of its kind I seem to remember that played for a whole year at a cinema in London. I saw it with the lady whobecame my wife many years later...Cry if you feel like crying. Laugh when your tears have dried. (its almost poetry) HNY "Gabby"

ilovesooty · 31/12/2010 17:39

It played for years in Birmingham. I used to go every year on my birthday. Later I lived in London and went every week on my day off.

RoseMortmain · 31/12/2010 17:40

I walked up the aisle to this when I got married.

Hassled · 31/12/2010 17:41

It's the moment they're doing the folk dance outside the ball and it goes all misty and she realises she's in lurve that gets me every time. It's a great great film.

Christopher Plummer hated it though - called it The Sound of Mucus.

BitOfFun · 31/12/2010 17:42

"How do you solve a problem like Maria"? Shock

I went to a SingalongaSoundofMusic once. It was great - the costumes were amazing. There really was someone as a brown paper package tied up with string and assorted wild geese etc.

TheSingingNun · 31/12/2010 17:43

Best Film Ever.

Here come the Nazis...

pink4ever · 31/12/2010 17:45

Been blubbing right from the start! One of my fave films ever.Kids walked out of room in disgust(8 year with cry of "this is garbage!"-philistines!).

ilovesooty · 31/12/2010 17:47

When I went to SingAlong three people went all joined together as the hills are alive...

BitOfFun · 31/12/2010 17:48

Why did he rip the nazi flag up? Maria could have made an attractive playsuit from it...perhaps not Grin

DuffyMoon · 31/12/2010 17:51

I played Marta (the second littlest one) in a production of the Sound of Music when I was 7. I was gutted when that was over and I had to give my sailor suit back, the curtains one, not so much.
