I had forgotten how long this film is. I tried to watch it with the dc's when it was on at Easter- they were unimpressed. Not enough pixar animation[heathens]

20 years ago we were laughed at in a video rental shop for wanting to rent this on a bank holiday (was at uni in Wales at the time). Shop owner thought we were mad, and let us rent it free.

(This was at a time when it was on EVERY bank holiday- apart from Wales, it seems!).

They'll be throwing balls at the Baroness and driving her back to Vienna soon.....

Oh yes- you could remake that part as a horror film

SoM was 2nd film I ever saw at the cinema, my abiding memory is being terrified of the bit with the Nazis. Much worse than the first film I was taken to, somewhat oddly, A Man For All Seasons

Lots of old curtains here. Due for the bin recycling. You are welcome to them BOF. Should warn you that most of them seem to be violently patterned and green seems an enduring theme throughout the house.

I've done the coach tour, it is FAB! Lots of singing on the coach as you drive round all the locations. You spend very little time at each place though. The last place you visit is the cathedral where they get married and there is a fantastic cafe opposite. Everyone goes to the cafe for strudel and hot chocolate and eats it while looking out of the window at the church. The cafe owners know when the coach is due in and they have it all ready because they know that everyone will order the same thing! :o

YADNBU - I alway cry buckets at it, shamelessly . Have to watch it every year and swoon at Christopher Plummer as the divine Captain. Alas, he ashn't aged as well as one might have hoped, but he is frozen in perfection in Sound of Music, so all right with the world

it is truly brilliant. But DS has just made me turn it off and put on In the Night Garden instead. Very unreasonable of him.
