To not like BIL snooping around our house

At ds's birthday party last month (dh's) BIL refused to use the downstairs guest bathroom & kept going upstairs to use the main bathroom - found this odd but fair enough , everyone else was happy to stay downstairs & use the bathroom . Later that night when everyone had gone home i noticed the attic door was fully open Hmm now this door is high up in the ceiling with no stair access so difficult to open (you would need to stand on the stair banister to get up there or get a ladder and the spare bedroom door was also open (junk room always locked )
We said nothing to Bil but now its DD's birthday party on Thursday & BIl will be here again & i am sooo tempted to bring it up in a jokey kind of manner ( something like "oh we must have some v strong mice in the attic as they are able to open the doors") but dh doesn't want me to .
What do you think ?

My SIL is such a snooper - she and my bro stayed over in ours once, well lots of times, but this one time sticks in my mind!

Dh & I were called away to see his gran who was dying and they said not to worry, they'd look after the children for us.

Long story short, I came home, got into my bed that night & SIL's big false nail was below my pillow!!!

They were totally unmistakeable as we had all been admiring their sparkliness the night before... a big huge false nail with 3 diamonds on it, right below my pillow!!!! What the hell was she looking for under my pillow???

I text her saying: "found, one fingernail!! Under my pillow???????? what's that all about?" She replied "I wondered where it had got to!"

That was it.....

Monkeytoo · 30/12/2010 19:17

Wanting to know the outcome of this too!

Ewww on the nail!

OP: what's up?????

Yuck ew vomit re finger nail under pillow.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 30/12/2010 20:40

I know!! Dh was worrying because we had been misbehaving having fun the night before & there was may have been some evidence that hadn't been stashed into a drawer!! Blush

But my attitude was that if she hadn't been in our room she wouldn't have seen it!

Bed sheets were washed & the nail was kept to show to my sisters later

taintedsnow · 30/12/2010 20:44

Get back here RIGHT NOW OP! I demand to know what happened. Grrr.

Pretty please?

Ooh well done OP.

SarahStrattonsBaubles · 30/12/2010 21:09

Hah! Actually I was starting to worry wonder where you were biggirl. I think you could let him sneak upstairs have a breather from being followed now as we will never find out what he's up to otherwise.

ChaoticAngel · 30/12/2010 21:15

I'm with Sarah, you need to let him sneak upstairs then send dd to find him Grin

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 30/12/2010 21:29

So funny

Numberfour · 31/12/2010 14:51

did you go upstairs to find him in your under wear?! Grin

onmyfeet · 01/01/2011 08:08

Well, that was a great idea to keep him away from upstairs....but I was dying to have you catch him doing something shocking!

NetworkGuy · 01/01/2011 10:08

Fairhaired and Frustrated - " What the hell was she looking for under my pillow???"

Maybe she was checking for a 'vibrating friend' you might keep hidden there :)

NetworkGuy · 01/01/2011 10:13

Yes, it was too inhibiting to have DD act like she was joined at the hip... really ought to have been a different approach - perhaps sending DD to hunt for BiL (2 minutes after he had gone upstairs) so she could say "Mummy sent me to find you because you seemed to get lost upstairs last time you came over... she just wanted to be sure you would not be lost in the attic".

If he had been given a line like that and had a guilty conscience, he might have returned red as beetroot! Of course he may have been trained by MI5 and could get through a lie detector test so he would not show any signs of embarrassment even if he had been in the attic the previous month.

biggirlsdontcry · 01/01/2011 14:39

Well the dc's went to bed at about 9.30pm but Bil & Sil were the last to leave at around 11pm . He probably didn't want to go snooping while knowing the dc's were upstairs in bed . So we are still none the wiser as to why he was up in our attic last month Confused I'm almost tempted to invite them over again just to try set him up Grin .
When DS had a few drinks on her she did mention attics a couple of times in conversations & at one stage Bil looked a little uncomfortable & red faced Grin
so the mystery remains unsolved
