It is Christmas right?!

DS feeds at 7 before bed and I just fancy a relaxing glass of vino (or 2) but he wakes for his morning feed between 4 and 430am.

I wouldn't drink any later than 10pm so 6 hrs to clear 5ish units??? DS is 10 months so it's not like he's a newborn (or am I just making excuses to persuade myself it's ok)

oh and it's no good saying give him a bottle of formula at 4am, he rejected every type of bottle at 5 months which is a whole other story!

Hurry! I have the corkscrew at the ready!!

Fill your boots. 5 units should take 5 hours plus one to clear... Makes 6 hours. Perfect! Only problem I can see is if there is an emergency and someone needs to drive. Make DH stay sober!!!

SummerRain · 20/12/2010 19:08

Don't worry, it's fine Smile

alcohol metabolises out of the milk at the same rate as your blood stream so by 4am it'll be mostly gone... besides which hardly any of it gets into the milk in the first place.

ElbowFan · 20/12/2010 19:08

FFS - what goes through is not going to make tiny an alcoholic!! Happy Christmas xx

AnnOnimous · 20/12/2010 19:08

I think if you give your DH the lion's share you will be fine.

I seem to remember, going back 17 years or so, my son slept all night for the first time ever when I had my first wee red wine session when he was about five months old.

spidookly · 20/12/2010 19:10

Drink as much as you want, it's not going straight into you boobs.

The only consideration is not being too drunk to care for your child should she wake, but half a bottle shouldn't render you unable to function.

chrimblycompo · 20/12/2010 19:13

I'd try a bottle again if you haven't tried for 5 months btw

but it's fine

call a cab in an emergency

TheOldestCat · 20/12/2010 19:14

YANBU. I have a beer (just the one and two on special occasions) most nights and am still feeding 10-month-old DS.

scottishmummy · 20/12/2010 19:15

have a drink and do enjoy it

Ormirian · 20/12/2010 19:16

No.

If you were my babies would all have been pickled.

DaydreamDolly · 20/12/2010 19:16

YANBU and you deserve the wine. Enjoy Xmas Grin

LadyBiscuit · 20/12/2010 19:17

Go for it :)

HalfTermHero · 20/12/2010 19:17

I would say that it is absolutely fine! Congrats on bf for 10 month plus and enjoy your wine Xmas Smile

yama · 20/12/2010 19:20

When I drink wine I have a glass early on (usually making dinner) so that in theory I'm alright to have one later on. I never feel like one later on though. Just knowing that I can makes me feel better when I'm draining the last of the first glass.

Enjoy.

plainjanesuperbrain · 20/12/2010 19:24

Emergency??

Do people really make sure one person is sober at all times just in case of an emergency???

AliBellandthe40jingles · 20/12/2010 19:26

Enjoy :)

I was far too uptight about drinking when BFing for too long, shan't be making that mistake this time around Grin

Katey1010 · 20/12/2010 19:30

Weeks old, PFB so yes to the emergency question. Ask me again in a few months!

QueenStromba · 20/12/2010 19:33

Only a hundred years ago it was common practice to get babies off their faces on drugs to keep them quiet and the human race survived.

scottishmummy · 20/12/2010 19:34

still common practise in lanarkshire

AnnOnimous · 20/12/2010 19:35

To make you feel better in my mothers grandmothers generation in Ukraine they were still giving babies poppy seed 'tea' to make them sleep.
