It is Christmas right?!

DS feeds at 7 before bed and I just fancy a relaxing glass of vino (or 2) but he wakes for his morning feed between 4 and 430am.

I wouldn't drink any later than 10pm so 6 hrs to clear 5ish units??? DS is 10 months so it's not like he's a newborn (or am I just making excuses to persuade myself it's ok)

oh and it's no good saying give him a bottle of formula at 4am, he rejected every type of bottle at 5 months which is a whole other story!

Hurry! I have the corkscrew at the ready!!

I used to partake in the odd glass or five...I would try and time it so DS was sleeping for a few hours, but I do remember feeding him whilst a little merry on occasion.

It didn't hamper his sleep pattern in any way and had no effect on his mood and he's a bright, tricky little thing 2 years on.

I say fill your boots OP...and if you're only having a couple of glasses make sure it's a right good one.

My god, if I'd had to give up drinking while bfing there is not a chance I would have clocked up the very large number of months breastfeeding that I have (worked out the other day that it's nearly 84 months over 4 children)

There is no better way than wine to get through all the trials of parenting.

My first lovely HV recommended that all mothers drink a glass of wine a day. Happy mum= happy baby was her motto.

Infinitisimal amounts of alcohol reach the milk anyway, and what there is will largely be gone by 4am. Cheers!

scottishmummy - surely it is safer to breastfeed when drunk than make up formula though? Dealing with boiling water, the right amount of powder, getting the correct temperature for the baby is all much trickier than sticking a nipple in their mouth.

I often have a G&T while feeding DS of an evening, it's a nice part of his bedtime routine Grin

No Scottishmumy, I said it's safer to breastfeed drunk than give a bottle drunk, we were at the time discussing EBM. Formula never came into it until YOU brought it in.

YANBU the only thing putting me off drinking more than one glass is the effect it would have when waking up at 4am, especially after months of such little drinking.
