just wondering what age you left your baby for first time over night? ive left my 4.5mth dd with my parents or his during the day before when working, but never over night and on the 29th my oh sisters party is a hours drive away and we would have to stay over night and leave my dd with my mum, i think we going to go but still feel little bad about leaving her all day and night, going to miss her laods and its not like im that near, so was just interested to see when evryone else left their babies over night for first time?

Mine was ten. Years.

No-one to leave him with.

Butterbur · 13/12/2010 21:23

I still haven't, except for when I was in hospital having the next one. The oldest is 16.

CuddlyNotFat · 13/12/2010 21:24

5 and 3! for 1 night!

(Now 7 1/2 and 6 and we have a 2 1/2 y.o too - still have fond memories of our 1 night away!)

RockinRobinBird · 13/12/2010 21:24

2.11 years, last week!

DiscoDaisy · 13/12/2010 21:25

My 1st was 8 months old . My 5th was 5 weeks old. My 3 other children were somewhere in between

theyoungvisiter · 13/12/2010 21:25

sorry should have clarified mine was years - not months!

It is kind of weird thinking about it that I've had one night away from my kids in 4 and a half years. But good weird Grin

Caz10 · 13/12/2010 21:25

DD is 3 and we still haven't done it Blush

To be fair, she still doesn't sleep through, so seems a lot to ask of someone else!

OctaviaOstrichJollster · 13/12/2010 21:26

Still haven't - and he's 2y6m.

But I'm a control freak I don't have any available family to do so.

theyoungvisiter · 13/12/2010 21:28

scuse me - why all the blushy faces when people haven't left their kids?

It's nothing to be ashamed of. I feel really cross when people are made to feel like clutchy control freaks for not wanting to leave their children early.

If you want to do it fine - if you don't want to do it, there's no need to feel defensive.

Francagoestohollywood · 13/12/2010 21:28

We left ds when he was about 9, maybe 10 months old with my parents.
Dd, our second, I can't remember how old she was. Maybe 12 months.

scottishmummy · 13/12/2010 21:29

4wks left with dad,me at work do.tofeel normal and not mumsy

Mists · 13/12/2010 21:29

3.7 - still waiting Xmas Hmm

SantaIsMyLoveSlave · 13/12/2010 21:29

DS at about 18 months (both of us leaving him -- I had left him with DH overnight while I was away with work before that).

I'm not entirely sure whether we have ever left DD; I think we did for a night when she was about 18 months too, but am a bit hazy (Neglected Second Child vs. PFB there, I think...)

MumNWLondon · 13/12/2010 21:30

DS2 7 months with DH, when I was on a work trip. Would have left him before then but I was BFing (and on maternity leave). Haven't left him with anyone else yet.

I left DD (PFB) with MIL at 9 months.

I left DS1 for 2 nights with SIL and BIL at 11 months.

loonyrationalist · 13/12/2010 21:34

dd1 - 2.5 - in hospital having dd2 - dd1 was with my dad.

dd2 - 22months - last wednesday as I was in hospital after a badly fractured ankle :)dd2 was with dh though so not sure if this counts for your purposes

Sorry not helpful to hear but I just don't like leaving my children.

If your dd is happy in your mum's care you can be fairly certain that she will be fine :)

loonyrationalist · 13/12/2010 21:35

grr first :) should be a :(

beastoftheforest · 13/12/2010 21:37

Ds1 is almost 4 yo and still haven't done it.

As soon as I feel ds2 is old enough I'm leaving them both with dh and going off for a night's sleep by myself!

On current form it will be in 3 years' time though...Hmm

hellymelly · 13/12/2010 21:38

I'm anticipating about 25.

BikeRunSki · 13/12/2010 21:38

No family nearby, DG works away a lot

17 months - when he was in hospital and DH stayed with him.

2.2 - my mum had him when we went to New York for my 40th, her present to me.

Not through PFBishness at all, just lack of people to leave him with,

StarExpat · 13/12/2010 21:38

DS is 26 months and we haven't done it yet Blush. He's at a cm while I work daily but always home by 4.15pm. Dh and I don't even go out together in the evenings. He's not a brilliant sleeper. It would be a big ask of someone else and no family nearby or even in the country.

Mumcentreplus · 13/12/2010 21:41

7 mths - DD1...we had our honeymoon in a very posh number (hotel) on parklane...I caught a cold from the air con ..spent much of my time hand expressing into the sink and calling my mum to check DD1 was ok..but otherwise twas lovely Grin...I have now realised that they totally survive without you and sometimes all the better for you not being there..now I enjoy my dirty weekends knowing they are having fun with their grandma/grandad and not missing me at all actually Wink

ceebeegeebies · 13/12/2010 21:45

I haven't left either of mine yet other than with DH and they are 4.5 and 2.

The first night I spent away from DS1 was when in hospital after having DS2 when DS1 was 2.4! Have spent about 4 nights away from them both since for a combination of being in hospital, work, party - but they have always been with DH.

Having said that, have been invited to a party in January - party is just round the corner from my Dsis' house, DH has tons of hotel reward points so we can have a free night in a hotel very close by...so have decided that is the perfect time for us to have a night away together whilst my boys stay with their aunty - am looking forward to it (me and DH have not had a night out together since DS1 was born Shock) but also not looking forward to it at the same time iyswim!

fluffygal · 13/12/2010 21:46

6 weeks with my oldest- I have a DD who is 2 months today and I still can't leave her for longer then a couple of hours so think it will be a long time until I could leave her overnight.

missmoopy · 13/12/2010 21:47

My dd is 6 and I have only ever left her with dh. Not particularly for any reason, just haven't.

SantarissaCripslock · 13/12/2010 21:47

My DS1 was 2 - My DS2 died so my parents took my DS1 as I was in hospital.

My D23 is 3 and hasn't been left with anyone overnight. TBH it wouldn't be fair on them as he is wild. Xmas Grin
