How dare they go on holiday and be allowed to have christmas presents etc
They should live on bread and dripping.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 03/12/2010 21:59

Work out the fucking bill you TWAT!!

LifeForRent · 03/12/2010 22:01

Why am I despicable? Because I don't believe people already rinsing the goverment for money that isn't received elsewhere in the world are getting EXTRA for a season/celebration they may or may not celebrate?

Don't you think people who actually work who drain their wages on mortgages and bills might like an extra tenner come December? How do you think working people manage in the winter with heating bills?

I happen to know how much DLA pay out and with free mota-bility I hardly believe an extra tenner is worth a hole in the Govts' pocket.

LifeForRent · 03/12/2010 22:02

Why am I to work out your bill? How am I to know how much you pay per unit? (and by "you" I mean the tax payer).

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/12/2010 22:02

Life, you clearly didn't understand my post about education and the NHS.

tribpot · 03/12/2010 22:03

Free motability - excellent Woo ho hoo!

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 03/12/2010 22:03

TooBusyBakingFuckingCupcakesToPostADecentArgument, or whatever your name is, I'll post you a tenner if you shut up and keep your nasty opinions to yourself.

Happy Christmas. [fsmile

Desiderata · 03/12/2010 22:03

I love the Daily Mail. It's my favourite paper.

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 03/12/2010 22:04

And you LFR.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 03/12/2010 22:04

Out of interest, lovely posters of this fine thread - what's cheaper on the public purse? DLA or carers allowance and that tenner or t'government paying agency full time care rates?
Just wondering Xmas Wink

expatinscotland · 03/12/2010 22:05

'How do you think working people manage in the winter with heating bills?'

We are working poor, working. I'd not trade my lot for being disabled any day. If and when I get cold I can get up and move around and generate heat, bake something, grab another blanket.

Someone like Riven's daughter cannot.

So yeah, I think it's low-down and despicable to to begrudge someone who cannot work through disability, especially a child, a fucking tenner.

People who feel that way should think black burning shame of themselves.

Ormirian · 03/12/2010 22:05

I hope those are organic eggs and the tomatoes comes from free-range Italian tomato farm.s

Do you know what, maybe disabled people shouldn't be allowed to have Christmas at all. They should probably have to all go to a workhouse together to pay penance for the drain they are on society. Or something. Pesky scroungers, I bet half of them go and get disabled just for that tenner.

salizchap · 03/12/2010 22:11

What is this ranting repeatedly about school books got to do with anything!

From personal experience of working in a secondary school, the main problem is that too many kids do not value what they have, as it is all given to them on a platter. They get free books, and they trash them, lose them, and do not replace them. They don't bother coming to school equipped with the basics, like a pen and pencil, let alone a calculator.

On the other hand, the school has links with another in Kolcatta, where the kids are so poor, they get one pencil and they look after it like a precious gift, until it is a tiny stump. They don't have new books and they most certainly don't have powerpoint presentations.

Personally, I would rather see someone who is disabled get £10 extra per year for a well-deserved little splurge on themselves that otherwise they wouldn't get, than see it spend on overpriced books that aren't appreciated or valued by the vast majority of our school kids.

tribpot · 03/12/2010 22:12

I've managed to create a moment where my dh can see my ds sledging down a hill. I thought he might never see this moment and he's only managed it from afar and only because the snow conditions are precisely what they are right now. In his entire childhood this is the best it will ever be.

Can you think about that?

pagwatch · 03/12/2010 22:12

I think the measure of a person is clearest viewed in their attitude to those less fortunate.
Always a good rule of thumb.

huddspur · 03/12/2010 22:12

LifeforRent is totally wrong and showing an a real lack of empathy but theres no need for people to get abusive

Desiderata · 03/12/2010 22:13

In China, baby girls are left to die, because the government only allows one child, and hard pressed parents would favour a son.

There are photographs of dead children in the fucking gutter. People just cycle past, without a second glance. More caring parents leave them to die on mountain slopes.

I fucking despise scroungers, but I equally despise people who look down their noses at everyone who claims a benefit, for whatever reason.

I doubt that you return your universal £81.50 child benefit every month on the grounds of morality?

And if your fine, 6ft 4" son gets paralysed in a rugby scrum, would you be so churlish about claiming benefits then?
