Nursery are having a 'superheros & princesses' themed dressing up day next week for charity.

DS (3.10) wants to be a princess. AIBU to agree that he can be? Grin.

I think it's rather sweet personally. DH not convinced.

A 3 year old in a princess dress, how cute, my DS (4.1) loves his cousins dress up pretty shoes/their fairy wands/tiaras etc. Fortunately at his age everyone (accept my DH) smiles and ahhhs at him. YANBU let him go and enjoy it.

At 10 I do believe that if he went out in a tutu he would not get such a nice reception. It is a sad but true fact that children can be hideously cruel and it would mark him out above most for bullying. I would not WANT my DS out in a tutu at 10, specifically because I adore him and don't want his feelings hurt, and because the other 10 year olds would tease him and who knows how many years they would remember and taunt him over it.

Sorry but that's my opinion, I don't care what he wears or what he becomes, I just want him to be happy. I am embarrassed to admit that I don't think I would have the same worries about DD (18mths) going out in an equivalently male outfit at 10. It's so wrong but society does sort of brainwash you... I feel helpless and have nothing more to say Blush

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:59

I know HELP ME FOR FUCK SAKE Grin
WEAR YOUR TUTUS YOU CRAZIES JUST WEAR THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 19:59

What if he was happiest wearing things like tutus though sasha?

BearCrimble · 01/12/2010 20:00

But should circumcised dogs on benefits be allowed to wear tutus?

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 20:00

Bye Sasha. Enjoy. Wouldn't wanna be ya Grin

Not really

TiggyD · 01/12/2010 20:00

I would have liked to have been able to wear a tutu (Or nicer dress) when I was younger. I'm TG by the way. I think it would have been a bad idea to let me go out in public like it though. Hopefully society will change to be more accepting but there's still a long way to go before all GBLT people can feel confident that they are safe.

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 20:01

Hehehe !

MistsAndMellow · 01/12/2010 20:01

Xmas Grin at "CAT me you cunt!

"PM me you cunt" just doesn't have the same ring does it?

thisisyesterday · 01/12/2010 20:02

but how will society change and become more accepting if we cling to the idea that it's not acceptable to let anyone do it?

Caoimhe · 01/12/2010 20:02

Oh dear Spikey at least get the spelling right. That wasn't my first post on this thread by the way.

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 20:02

Only if they buy the cheapest version bear Grin

Tiggy I thought I'd seen your posts before! Hi!

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 20:02

Its a sad fact of life that while MNetters seem quite liberal, not every one else is ....

Sasha02 · 01/12/2010 20:02

Then I would obviously support him, he's my boy!!! But I'd worry about what he'd have to face over it.

DirtyMartini · 01/12/2010 20:10

Totally get what you mean spikey

TiggyD · 01/12/2010 20:12

Hi Kaloki!

frgr · 01/12/2010 20:13

Does spikey have her own fanclub? Hmm

I genuinely withdraw my comment about you being a troll, I think this post has shown that you have your own weird little following fanclub on the go here.

You're all as mad as one another, though Wink

frgr · 01/12/2010 20:14

pft strike out not working

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 20:16

frgr you have to do it after every word or put the whole sentence together iloveyoualwayshave like that. OK

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 20:17

DirtyMartini · 01/12/2010 20:18

I have never actually encountered spikey before, so I am not in a clique or fan club.

I stand by my comments at the start of the thread and think spikey is saying substantially the same as me, thassall.

frgr · 01/12/2010 20:18

dog cat rabbit

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 20:18

frgr · 01/12/2010 20:18

SuePurblybiltByElves · 01/12/2010 20:19
