Nursery are having a 'superheros & princesses' themed dressing up day next week for charity.

DS (3.10) wants to be a princess. AIBU to agree that he can be? Grin.

I think it's rather sweet personally. DH not convinced.

No, I was called a homophobe. I don't like nonsense. Simple as. If all the people flaming me would take their boys out in tutus at that age then I'm the Queen of Sheba

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 19:37

Seriously Spikey, I'm not trying to get at you. Your post on my thread earlier made me smile, so no grudges. But having suffered because of daring to stand out I am honestly interested in why you feel the way you do? And let's face it, with a pair of eccentrics for parents, chances are any children of mine are likely to be a little eccentric too (though knowing my luck they'll rebel when they are teens and wear beige). I hate the idea that they'll be judged badly, and potentially harmed because of this idea of what is and isn't acceptable clothing.

Can you understand at all why some of us hate the idea of little boys being told that they have to conform for fear of violence?

I don't care if people disagree, I've had it all on a previous thread, where make up was fine aswell apparently. I just can't take everyone seriously. As you can't take me seriously.

Caoimhe · 01/12/2010 19:41

Well then why keep posting about it spikeycow?

Asteria · 01/12/2010 19:42

FFS - what is wrong with boys wearing make-up if that is what they want to do?

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:43

I understand your points Kaloki. But you haven't been rude and unrealistic. People did mention homophobia and being gay, not realising they were perptrating stereotypes in their attempts to flame.
This is not an ideal world. In fact it's a complete shithole. No point pretending otherwise.

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 19:43

My teenage ds has worn eye-liner and nail varnish Grin

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:44

See? More people jumping on the bandwagon. Complete stupidity.

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:45

Is he a goth US? I used to love black eye make up

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 19:46

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 19:50

he is an emo/rocker type yes ...his favourite type of music atm is Japanese visual kie Grin

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:50

Just idiots who don't have an opinion, they just fancy flaming someone. Pathetic. That's one thing I don't do

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 19:51

True Spikey, but shouldn't we challenge that? It was less than a century ago that we would have been in trouble for wearing trousers, and I don't know about you, but I'm wearing them now with no fear of reprisals.

Even less time ago you'd have been in trouble for being bi.

But because people stood up and said "actually, people should be free to do what they like" (without harming others, of course) we get to live freely. I want that for young boys too. And for that, more of us have to continue standing up and saying things like "boys in tutus and/or makeup? Fine by me"

Oh I challenge all sorts. If I saw that sort of bullying I'd be all over it, without a doubt. But I'd still wonder why the parents allowed it like it was no biggie

Kaloki · 01/12/2010 19:55

Why is it a biggie though? It's a bit of fabric, just arranged differently to a pair of trousers. That's all.

Asteria · 01/12/2010 19:55

are you refering to me as a keeva (whatever that is?) for my comments?

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:55

No Keeva asked why I was still posting. That was it. No opinion, just a snidey comment. I don't like that sort of shit. It's rife on here.
I'm posting because The Apprentice hasnt started yet, and people keep going Spikey Spikey Spikey. Why do I do it every blasted time

spikeycow · 01/12/2010 19:57

No Caiomhe. I was just being lazy spelling it Keeva cos that's how it's said in Irish.
And no I'm not anti Irish either

usualsuspect · 01/12/2010 19:57
ShirleyKnot · 01/12/2010 19:57

God spikey.

CAT me you cunt, let's take this outside.

injoke

Anyway - To be totally honest, I would have steered my DS's towards a superhero costume TBH - but if they'd stood their ground and told me they wanted to be a princess? uh, no biggie.

(DS2 has been wearing my boots for the last two days - he's 10 - it's fine)
