DW will wear clothes a few times then put them in the wash so I take them out of the basket and if they are not dirty I will put them on the line and she is none the wiser
I Have enough to do around the house without washing clean clothes

I have 9 every day bras (mix of black & white) - they last a long time - I last bought new ones about 2 years ago, but some are older than that. They go in the machine with all the other washing. They are all more t-shirt style bras and not fancy lacy jobs, but even the ones that are just get put in a washing net and washed with the others and last a good long while.

I once worked with a girl (she was only 18) who never, ever washed her bras - only sprayed them with fabreeze! She absolutely didn't believe us when we told her what she was doing was so wrong and she needed to wash them! What was worse was her and her friend who lived with her swapped/shared bras.... Envy

Assuming this is a genuine thread.

You dont need to wash wool that often. It has some natural antismelling property and self cleaning shite built in.

My dh wanted to test the merino hypothesis, that it never smells, on holiday in sunny Poland last year. He wore his merino wool t shirt EVERY day for three weeks, and he can sweat for the olympic team. It took 3 weeks to become smelly......

I am so sick of that beige and red tshirt by now.... I have still not recovered.

PatFig - I am sure you are a friendly troll - but if you aren't, then you deserve to not get your Friday Shag!

Weirdly I don't think of bras as underwear (that is pants and socks). I realise that might make me a bit odd though.Blush

QS - I was just going to post something similar about wool, as a few years back, at a craft show, a bloke selling mohair yarn said that you never needed to wash it - washing spoilt it and the dirt tended not to stick anyway. He reckoned the same went for wool although I might dispute that as spills would be more obvious.

Anyway, whilst the thought of never washing your wool knitwear is a step too far, I definitely wash it as little as possible because washing ruins it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2010 11:04

very odd lol

not sure how many bras i have but guess roughly have 10 sets of matching bra/nicks in reds/pinks/blues etc

as well as normal white and black, so prob 20ish

i know when i go ona fortnights holiday i am anal make sure i have clean underwear for all those days and throw in a few spare pants as well (you never know)

30 bras Shock

NordicPrincess · 25/11/2010 11:20

if hse wouldnt mind you not washing her clothes every time then fine. I wouldnt mind you only washing my clothes every couple of days. I certainly dont wash my bras everyday-what a waste of water! only do washing once or twice a week!

Niecie · 25/11/2010 11:45

30 Shock

Blondes - Actually I think the bra thing is because I live with 3 males so if I talk underwear to them it is only pants and socks.

Plus, if I do an 'underwear wash' I put my tights in because they are dark colours too and not my bras which are mostly white or skin toned and they would snag the tights anyway. So bras not included in the underwear category there either.

So not quite as odd as first appearances might suggest. Maybe. Grin

Blondes - me too Grin and I still travel lighter than all my friends!!

CamillaBKM · 25/11/2010 12:39

We have a rule in our house. Jeans and jumpers or cardis get worn more than once unless actually dirty, everything else that is worn directly next to the skin gets washed after one wearing.
If it's because you have too many other chores, can you ask them to put a wash on themselves.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2010 16:31

i do 3 loads of washing a week

darks, lights and then dh work clothes (need a wash of their own)

2rebecca · 25/11/2010 17:37

If you shower or bath daily and aren't in a manual job then stuff next to your skin shouldn't get that filthy though.
I go more on length of time on plus the material of the garment, tightness of garment and dirtiness and smelliness of garment rather than just how many times on.
