PatFig · 23/11/2010 15:48

DW will wear clothes a few times then put them in the wash so I take them out of the basket and if they are not dirty I will put them on the line and she is none the wiser
I Have enough to do around the house without washing clean clothes

What Beta says, although I'm not a man. DP does most of the laundry because we both work full time and he's more adept.

Having said that I think washing things after every wear is madness (knickers, socks etc excepted, obv.).

plasticface · 23/11/2010 16:54

I wish I had enough bras to wash them every day! I'm certainly not spending any more money on nursing bras though.

2blessed2bstressed · 23/11/2010 16:55

Can't help feeling that you're not saving yourself much work if all you're bypassing is putting them in the machine.
It's all v passive aggressive is it not? Feel like you're getting one over her?
I don't think I like you. Have a Biscuit

Diamondback · 23/11/2010 16:55

My DH doesn't sweat as much as me, so his clothes don't need washing as often, but if I've worn a top once (next to skin) or twice (with a t-shirt underneath) then it definitely needs washing, or I'll be niffy!

It wouldn't be noticeable when I've just put something on, but once my body warms up, I'd be reeking of BO if I didn't wash my clothes this regularly!

Maybe your DW just thinks you're not doing the washing right, but doesn't want to nag. Or possibly she thinks that she has a BO problem that she didn't have previously and is too mortified to mention it to you. But she's a grown woman, used to the way her own body works (how much she sweats, how often she has to wash her hair and, yes, how often she needs a fresh top) to put her clothes in the wash when they need doing.

You are sending her out into the world smelly and open to ridicule.

YABU!

onepieceoflollipop · 23/11/2010 16:59

Pat you are wrong!

However, I would say that sometimes I make more of a "big deal" about washing jumpers etc, but actually it is less hassle than all the pants and towels and boring stuff that there is so much of.

Just as someone else said do a delicate/wool wash once a week with that stuff in.

Possibly you could mention it to your dw for example if you think she might wear a t-shirt under a jumper during the winter and the jumper might be able to do an extra day or two? But don't try to cheat her.

fel1x · 23/11/2010 16:59

I wash bras every 2 days

RunawayChristmasTree · 23/11/2010 17:14

Do you have a washing machine OP or do you just was them in the stream?

nickeldonkeyonadustyroad · 23/11/2010 17:19

Greenshadow - no, i don't - they usually have two or 3 wears.
but you're supposed to wash your bra after you've worn it once - like others have said about under boob sweat, and they've been under your armpits too.

JustaNickname · 23/11/2010 17:22

Thats gross, your poor wife!

Just wash the clothes because when she finds out there will be hell to pay and not only will she be utterly humiliated but she will also be less likely to do things for you she might find unnecessary!

Just wanted to add that I was bras everyday as I have quite a lot of them seeing as I went through a bit of a bra buying faze a little while ago. jeans I'll wear more then once, certain jumpers such as hoodies and what not but tops, underwear and so on I wash after one wear.

WeeScotsLass · 23/11/2010 17:27

Pat - I hope you've read nickeldonkeyonadustyroad's posting. It's spot on. If you believe otherwise, you don't know women. You may get two days or more out of your underwear - but we don't!

2shoes · 23/11/2010 17:29

I would give the op a Biscuit but he sounds so lazy he probably has had loads already

AnyFucker · 23/11/2010 17:35

Oh, this thread is just another terrible example of bullying by Mumsnet Mafia bitches

You should all be ashamed of yourself

This guy is a good guy and he is doing his best. Talk about kicking someone when they are down !! Shame on all of youse.

amijee · 23/11/2010 17:36

i dont wash my clothes half as much as some people on here! ESp not jumpers over other clothes or bottoms. Or bras!

I guess everyone is different and i dont sweat much and shower daily.

But i do think society is far too sanitised and needs to relax a little.

So YANBU IMO

JustaNickname · 23/11/2010 17:42

I would just like to point out that when I trained to be a hairdresser part of out training was about personal hygiene. I shower everyday and was my clothes as I stated above but sweat and such produces bacteria which get onto clothes and make them smell. The longer this bacteria is left on clothes the worse it gets and basically the bacteria rots and gets worse and worse so thinking of it that way its not an appealing thought at all.

AnyFucker I don't think that was a fair statement. He asked for opinions and thats what he's getting.

fruitful · 23/11/2010 17:43

I keep seeing this thread in active convos and reading the title as "after only 2 years" Grin

arfasleep · 23/11/2010 17:43

YABU, I would never do that to DP, I am SAHM & so do most of housework, if something is in washing basket or 'on the floor' for any period of time it has to go in the wash. If you think she's putting stuff in the wash when it could be worn again, tell her but be prepared for her to go into detail about smells/sweat info that you might rather not know.

arfasleep · 23/11/2010 17:45

JustaKnickname, I may be wrong but I don't think Anyfuckers post was serious

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 23/11/2010 17:45

You're the same guy who was obsessed with excessive showering, aren't you.

nickeldonkeyonadustyroad · 23/11/2010 17:47

AnyFucker's a blimmin party pooper anyway.

[raspberry]

TheFeministParent · 23/11/2010 17:47

No hook eating for me thanks.....SAHM moaning...is that supposed to be a sure fire way of pissing everyone off?

Donkey.

JustaNickname · 23/11/2010 17:48

arfasleep you may be right. Sometimes I miss sarcasm, which is weird seeing as I have mastered it myself :)

So if your post was sarcastic AnyFucker my apologies :)

Seona1973 · 23/11/2010 17:53

I have clean pants, bra and tops every day. I wear jeans for 2 or 3 days and my cardi until it start to smell a bit (maybe 4 or 5 wears). It must take longer for you to sort them out than it would to just put it in the machine so I think YABU.

AnyFucker · 23/11/2010 17:56

I am serious

This site is a nest of fucking vipers

A seething, hissing mess of man-haters
