saw one today and poor child had no view , it was just looking at the cover of the child up stairs iynwim
why would you put a child there, and has anyone ever forgotton and put shopping on top of the child?

My kids used to fight over who went on the bottom.

Tehy are sooo much easier to use than side by sides..believe me, I've owned a fleet of various side by sides. I truly believe my P&T saved my sanity.

And as a plus, the DC can't pull each others hairor poke each others eyes.

LynetteScavo · 23/11/2010 19:11

Oh, and I think it's than a newborn can been cocooned and safe, and lying flat.

onceamai · 23/11/2010 19:14

Has anyone checked to see if these buggies made the grumpy old women thread?Grin

LightlyKilledCrunchyFrog · 23/11/2010 19:16

I love the P&T, both boys are happy enough and the one in the lower seat can see me easily so plenty of interaction.

One of the best things is that the main seat has one of the highest weight limits for a normal buggy on the market, much as I love my Mac Major, it is logistically not great with a 5 yo and 23m old. The P&T is perfect for long days out on the bus, and holidays etc.

Mine is nearly dead, poor thing. I think I have replaced almost all of the parts. Which might mean it isn't the same buggy any more. Grin

5DollarShake · 23/11/2010 19:19

There is a reason that there is more than one type of pram/pushchair on the market, and that reason is because there is more than one requirement from prams and pushchairs states the bleeding obvious.

There is no law that states we all have to have, use and love the exact same pushchair, but this point does seem to be beyond some people's teeny tiny little minds.

Honestly - hating on a buggy...! An inanimate object which has zero impact on your life if you choose not to part with your own cash on it. I've heard it all now. Grin

Laquitar · 23/11/2010 19:35

I wanted one and my mum put me off!

I used sling and single buggy, side by side double buggy, single buggy and buggy board.

Are they ok for stairs and escalators?

i had a p+t and its ok. but since moving here i can use one as the bottom seats catches on our front step. have got a cheapy tandem for dd4 and ds1.

emmie31 · 23/11/2010 20:04

A friend of mine had one, I always thought they looked cruel, but when I actually looked at her baby in it she looked so snuggly.

NormalityBites · 23/11/2010 20:08

Laquitar I thought stairs and escalators were a no-no for people choosing to use a buggy?

AngryPixie · 23/11/2010 20:11

I was looking into double buggies when I was pregnant with dc2 (6ish yrs ago) was shown P&T in the shop and promptly burst into hormonal tears about putting my precious baby practically on the floor etc etc

Confused DH looking on (who thought it looked great)

Bought a side-by-side with the capacity to have a carrycot on one side for the baby (mountain something) LOVED it and took it everywhere (museums, southbank, parks, etc)

You find what works for you.

lovechoc · 23/11/2010 20:14

I would never buy one, personally. I think I'd end up chucking the shopping in and forgetting about the youngest one being in there! But that's just me....Blush

ClenchedBottom · 23/11/2010 20:19

I don't like them - have seen a dad bump one down a high kerb and bash the baby's head - thought his partner might attack him! - and have twice seen people accidentally kick the baby (underneath) when running across roads pushing one Shock
So that put me off a bit. Not used by any of the thousands of sets of twins round here either, although I know they're aimed more at those with siblings close in age but not twins.

However, each to their own.

PrematureEjoculation · 23/11/2010 20:19

i chose against this style of double because i am a cheapskate and they -are even expensive on ebay i thought it didn't look sturdy enough, and the newborn would be on the ground where he'd get trod/kicked/ weed on ..

i have a massive Bertini with bucket seat and ride-on stair attachment for DD1. We call it the Ninky Nonk and it weighs a ton.

Laquitar · 23/11/2010 20:22

Normality i used them quite a lot.

NormalityBites · 23/11/2010 20:26

Oh - how does that work then? Is it not dangerous to use a buggy on an escalator? I'm not sure how you would manage stairs - maybe some steps but a full flight of stairs? I would imagine the weight is on the front, do you do it backwards?

I'm sorry, I've never pushed a buggy and I don't know how these things work.

Laquitar · 23/11/2010 20:33

I dont use buggies now because all my dcs walk now.
When i did i was going downstairs forward (you keep the buggy straight line and roll down softly the back wheels). Upstairs is harder, i was going backward (same way, keep buggy straight with front wheels on air but you have to lift the back wheels up-good exersice Grin)

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 23/11/2010 20:35

Hve been thro' maclaren side by side, and Jane tabdem before trying a phil and teds.

For all those who "just don't like the look of it" don't disregard what you haven't tried. It was the best by far of the three, just wish I had bought it when I had dd1 as it would have saved me £££.

My two argues over the lower seat. The newborns are not particularly low but cocooned, which lets be honest at that age is quite soothing!

I sold mine second hand for not that much less than I paid for it..... there is a reason they hold their price!

NormalityBites · 23/11/2010 20:38

Ah OK I'm sure I must have seen people doing similar but I don't pay much attention. The only place I go to with any regularity that has escalators has those flat ones - but buggies are banned regardless and people with them have to use the lifts.

Actually that's another reason I have never used a buggy - I am terrified of lifts!

Morloth · 23/11/2010 20:38

Wot chibi said

Feelingsensitive · 23/11/2010 20:39

Don't diss the Phil and Teds till you've tried it. That's all I am going to say Wink

babyicebean · 23/11/2010 20:40

I loved my P&T's but the youngest when he won the fight for the back seat used to use it as an opportunity to stroke peoples ankles in queues - he had a preference for ladies in skirts. He seemed to think it was funny when they looked around but couldnt see him underneath.

Laquitar · 23/11/2010 20:42

Some tube stations didn't even have a lift!

But i still don't get how people with p&t go on the bus or other big steps?

LightlyKilledCrunchyFrog · 23/11/2010 20:42

Normality, I used to bump my P&T up to my first floor flat with 2 sleeping goblins in it. And keep them asleep. I was quite smug about that. Wink I would go up escalators but not down them with a buggy - I would bump down the stairs. It's doable, which 3 under 2's wasn't without a buggy. The other one was on my back in a MT Smile

WhatMayWantsMayGets · 23/11/2010 20:54

Mine comes in very handy.

3 year old has cerebral palsy and can't walk.

1 year old sits underneath.

Silly me, I never thought about the 1 year old having a crap view.
