A good job there aren't many men on MN

Truckulent · 22/11/2010 08:00

I think men would be shocked at the level of resentment leveled at them on MN. Almost a seething mass of contempt at times.

I'm a man, been on here for years. And I was surprised by it.

AIBU to think it's a good job there aren't many men on here, or would more men posting help men and women understand each other better?

Stacey - men debate and discuss. Women bitch and gossip.

Ha! Janos...yess..Hmm

Beachcomber · 24/11/2010 20:32

And what irritates me is that everyone knows feminists are humourless and yet they have been practically the only ones cracking the odd joke on this thread.

And none of the laugh a minute non-feminists have been laughing.

BelleDeJure · 24/11/2010 20:34

Thank you for your expressions of Shock. I'm ashamed to say I was so Shock I did report to the police but not until a good few days after and nothing came of it (apart from receiving a witness support letter as a victim of crime.)

LG - I was hoping it was an Amazon delivery! Thankfully Amazon are yet to send racist aggressive spitting men round to your house, even if you ordered one! I couldn't not have said anything, not because I'm brave, but because I feel I have a duty to my son to show him that he must always speak up when he encounters these kind of views (even at 4 months but start as you mean to go on and all that). I spent a childhood asking other children not to tell me Paki jokes on the schoolbus. I knew I couldn't stop them but I could state my views and register my disgust as loudly as possible so other people knew just because I was white I did not hold the same views.

Wonder where DP's gone to?

Damn. I quite liked my name. Now have to think of another one.

scottishmummy · 24/11/2010 20:36

may i recommend you peruse a scottish theme!

BelleDeJure · 24/11/2010 20:37

And in my experience men drone and usually drone over you but if you try and put your point across you are of course, being shrill or the archetypal shrieking harpy. I've been known to use flashcards in board meetings before along the lines of: Will you allow me to speak soon? That usually gets you a bit of airtime in between the droning.

Beachcomber · 24/11/2010 20:37

"I am a woman by the way, but I know my place faults."

Limara · 24/11/2010 20:41

enjoyed that! Smile

scottishmummy · 24/11/2010 20:42

kind of agree BDJ but reverting to sterotypical descriptions of men are dis woman are dat isnt true picture either
in past i have worked with equally abominable men and women.both shrill, irksome.particularly when i was junior

aye ah've had a fair snigger on this thread

Beachcomber · 24/11/2010 20:50

I take it back TSH - you made a dungaree joke too.

I'm not taking the rest back though.

Mumcentreplus · 24/11/2010 20:54

That's the point..you can work with arses be they men or women...how you deal with them now...

Beachcomber · 24/11/2010 20:56

My beef with nonfeminsts, be they male or female, is the blardy high heels and corsets and silicone tits and that. Plus those porny pop videos and porny yoghurt/car/perfume/aftershave/add in product as required adverts.

I know not everybody has 'em/produces 'em but one is expected to at least condone them - non?

Janos · 24/11/2010 21:00

I am hugely offended by the dungaree jibes.

To be serious for a moment Belle, that is absolutely shocking and how awful that happened to you.

Brings it into focus just who and what the BNP really are, despite all their 'spin'.

scottishmummy · 24/11/2010 21:01

cant spin bnp, cant polish a turd either

Agreed there sm. Not even Malcolm Tucker at a spin doctor's spin off for champion spinner of the world could spin 'em good.

scottishmummy · 24/11/2010 21:10

love the thick of it,has some great profanoties

CommanderDrool · 24/11/2010 21:26

Is it unfeminist to fancy Malcolm Tucker?

(Nicola threatens to resign...) "You resign now; you'll be up there with the fucking shaggers. And expenses fiddlers, and the guys who asphyxiate themselves having a wank in a Travelodge."

That was the cleanest quote I could find.

Like most women I like men.
Like most men I believe women and men should be treated equally under the law (and that works both ways) and treated fairly at home. Most people in the UK share those views.
