BNP on facebook......should be responsible for the photos on their page

Friend of mine on FB has requested that I report the BNP's facebook page for the most vile language and content. Which I have, I implore everyone to do the same. The photos are disgusting, pictures of dead or dying Africans/Afro-Caribbeans with captions like Funny looking N*er underneath.

It's shocking, you may be able to report it without looking at the photos.

DP -

I'm sure many people including christians, jews, muslims etc complain about homosexuality being 'promoted' in school. I'm sure many muslims actually are gay, drink alcohol and have sex outside marriage just as many catholics do the same - they follow their conscience and don't necessarily follow every aspect of their religion. Muslim is a blanket word in the way catholicism, christianity, judaism is - there is no 'one size fits all'.

daftpunk · 17/11/2010 17:29

List me the Muslim countries where homosexuality is tolerated.

i don't care about the 'country' - i care more what individual muslims think and many of them do tolerate and partake of many things that might surprise you DP. Many also want to see their countries take a much more tolerant view in general. Just because they live there, doesn't mean they support all the policies.

Define 'tolerated' and 'Muslim country'.

daftpunk · 17/11/2010 17:40

Muslim country = country where Islam is the major religion ..... Do I have to spell everything out for you?

begonyabampot · 17/11/2010 17:41

Turkey, perhaps then?

daftpunk · 17/11/2010 17:47

Just list me all the Muslim countries where homosexuality is tolerated and gay Muslims are allowed to openly express their sexuality like they are in western countries.

TheFeministParent · 17/11/2010 17:47

I'm not sure arguing about one groups intolerance is a good reason to be intolerant. Any prejudice is vile, I have issues with aspects of faith (all faiths) but understand that for some people the good stuff about the faith can wipe out the bad. so if, as a Catholic, you are asked by your faith to be homophobic you may believe that a benevolent God would not hate people for loving the same sex.

You can pick apart the Muslim faith, there's much to pull at but 'hating' all Muslims for these things is weird.

Mmm Turkey then, again. And there are many places in the Uk where a gay couple would not be openly tolerated.

begonyabampot · 17/11/2010 17:53

DP - you sound like you just hate muslims, full stop. Many muslim are probably more tolerant than you.

SantasMooningArse · 17/11/2010 18:06

Begonya DP is fairly well known for this- don;t even go tehre!

I don't care what the leaders of a Muslim country believe; not in this context anyway. I care about what the Muslims in my own neighbourhood and country believe. you can;t accurately guage what the devotees of any one faith would beleive in a single-faith country anyway as they will not have access to the same experiences and education that those of us from more secular nations have.

Islam is not the only faith where gay people are regarded as inferior- neither is it the only cultural set up where that happens. But in the 'free' and relatively educated society that is the UK, most Muslims I know are moderate and don;t care if someone is gay or not.

Likewise most Christians and most Hindus.

begonyabampot · 17/11/2010 18:15

agreed SMA. My experience also. Was raised Catholic and hate it when you see comments like 'well you must be against contraception, sex before marriage, homosexuality etc' People are individuals and you can't judge them all on what religion they happen to be born into - think a guy called Hitler tried this once.

The thing is, I don't have friends who are extremists. So no fundamentalists of any nature, be that religious or otherwise.
Besides, the people I surround myself with are from many faiths and beliefs, but all are moderate. They do not have these nonsensical prejudices that you purport. The people that you are rabbiting on about, DP, are the extremists, and they are in EVERY religion.
I recently had the worst homophobic experience in my life in America, for example. From a white Christian.

daftpunk · 17/11/2010 19:20

BTP;

I didn't look at the site tbh. I'm not on the "official" BNP site either - ( as I said earlier - I'm trying to cut down on the time I spend online - deregistered from twitter last month - ha ha ha. ). having said that, I'm on f/b, and have a few high profile BNP people on my friends list - along with Muslims and homosexuals and politicians from other parties....I'm more than able to get along with everyone y'know.

I do not, and never have, supported any form of racism or intolerance of any kind. I am respectful of all religions and tolerate homosexuality ( just keep it out of my schools) ...
I'm a very nice person.

TheFeministParent · 17/11/2010 19:22

DP...It would be very powerful for you, as a supporter, to object to this sort of BNP supporter activity.

S'ok BTP...

I actually like you and agree with some of the things you say - ( not much - but some of it Wink)... And yes, I am open about my political beliefs - but that shouldn't be a barrier to having a friendly chat with me on here now & then... I talk to lefties all the time.

& G40 - I'm sorry you had that experience.

"Hmm, if only you'd challenge the BNP supporters with the same vigour, then, MQ."

Well a few points on that note.

Firstly on this thread there has been no cause to challenge BNP members as it has had nothing to do with the BNP as was quite quickly discovered.

secondly here is only a few of the descriptions which I have reserved for BNP members in this thread alone :
-just the normal moronic shit that I'd expect from bnp.
-I loathe the BNP
-FWIW I think the majority of the BNP are racist morons
-There's plenty of things you can berate the BNP on and use as proof of their racism

etc.etc.

And finally the BNP being moronic racist dicks and you being wrong on this specific matter are not mutually exclusive. I've only pursued you with any vigour because I can't comprehend your complete abandonment of logic and your complete refusal to address any of the points I've made about these contradictions and illogical arguments and your blind adherence to your beliefs without any shred of evidence or supporting facts.

You could just say: I hate the BNP and all they stand for, but there's no evidence that they had anything to do with this FB page. All this proves is the mentality of a lot of their supporters which is a fairly accurate representation of the party as a whole in my opinion.
But instead you've said
I don't care if it was them or not. (when the question of the thread is if they should be held responsible for the page) even though later you assign them complicity.
This complicity is at first based on their silence, but when their silence is broken their complicity is based on "I reckon...."
It just makes you look reactionary and not too bright.

begonyabampot · 17/11/2010 22:12

Jesus MQ -

I've enjoyed some of your informative posts on other threads but enough please! stop picking on BTP in this manner - it's starting to come across as quite nasty and bullying. You've made your point.

Asteria · 17/11/2010 22:21

DS's father is a FB supporter - suffice to say that he was a violent alcoholic who had some pretty horrific views. I would hate to make sweeping generalisations....
