Right, I am only on MN as my DP has forbidden me from mentioning it!

He told me that one of his best friends (26yo) has his hair washed by his mum when he goes home. Now, is it just me or is that just f'ed up!?

Apologies for overuse of word weird in my previous post. I do have a wide vocabulary, honest

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 17:48

onceupon it just felt wrong for me,it might be ok but to see my MIL's legs on top of my husband's legs felt wrong, she has millions and can afford to have her feet rubbed by someone else, anyway i didn't stop him,he didn't like it in the first place and told her it had to stop, its along story really,

Asteria · 15/11/2010 17:50

does she give him "Bittie" and a cuddle in front of the fire afterwards?

BitOfFun · 15/11/2010 17:51

Deeply strange.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/11/2010 17:52

er, no. WHY fucked up??
I just don't get it....

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 17:52

no 'bittie:o but she complains if i get flowers,be it for my birthday or annivesary

ModreB · 15/11/2010 17:53

My adult son asks me to wax his back for him Confused

Apparently I am the only one he will trust to do it.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/11/2010 17:56

I quite often do my mum's hair for her.
I also have been known to give pedicures/shoulder massages to friends/family members.
sometimes I even HAVE PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH OTHER ADULTS :-0
is THAT weird???
I can assure you that it isn't in the least bit sexual.

huddspur · 15/11/2010 18:02

I washed my brothers hair after we went to a bonfire the other week

harpsichordcarrier · 15/11/2010 18:03

bleigh huddspur that's GROSS and WEIRD
^apparently6 Hmm

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 18:05

:o harp nothing wrong at all, where i come from to see a man rubbing his mother's feet, with the said feet on his lap,,aaahh, they will say very bad things about that relationship i tell you, nomatter how innocent some cultures see it as being wrong to have such contact, hugging is ok,the rest won't do,,however i still think its ok to have physical contact with other adults:o

harpsichordcarrier · 15/11/2010 18:07

but only if you're married to them??

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 18:08

huddspur that doesn't count as weird in my opinion,,sister washing brother's hair or vice versa is ok,,even a massage, painting toenails and such,

sheeplikessleep · 15/11/2010 18:09

YANBU.

After giving birth, my mum showered me and washed my hair and dried me off afterwards. Was lovely, as I was shaking after giving birth 30 minutes previously. BUT, it did remind me of being a little girl again and being 'looked after'.

mummyloveslucy · 15/11/2010 18:09

My husbands brother is 45 years old and his mum washes his hair over the bath. Shock

It does look very strange but then she does everything for him. I doubt her could make himself something to eat even.

cumfy · 15/11/2010 19:00

Maybe he has 2+ broken limbs ?

Would it be OK if she was cutting his hair ?

Shammalamma · 15/11/2010 19:01

its rather caring
but odd

ShanahansRevenge · 15/11/2010 19:02

What freaks me out is the other two people on this threawho know men who'se Mum washes their hair!

I can't believe it's so common!

Cumfy...of course a haircut would be ok...but washing...no, that's personal and very intimate...sensual too!

booyhoo · 15/11/2010 19:14

for thsoe posters who are saying it is very sensual (sorry, can't remember all who said it) do you think sensual = sexual? because it doesn't. a sensual experience is something that stimulates your senses. be that your sense of touch, smell, sight, taste, or sound. i had an aromatherapy massage and it was a sensual experience. it stimulated my sense of touch and smell. i was not sexually aroused in any way.

TryLikingClarity · 15/11/2010 19:17

KurriKurri Shock

Your MIL has issues!

harpsichordcarrier · 15/11/2010 19:19

it might be a sensual experience or even a sexual one
EXCEPT when your mum's doing it
SURELY?

Rebeccash · 15/11/2010 19:21

YANBU its totally fucked up weird

narkypuffin · 15/11/2010 19:30

A bit bizarre and definitely surprising.

I'd find it really odd if my mother offered to wash my hair unless I needed physical assistance or she was a hairdresser. More because I wash it in the shower in the bathroom with the door closed. So she'd have to go out of her way (and into the cubicle)to offer. I wouldn't think pervert but I would think future MIL from hell.

Treeesa · 15/11/2010 19:35

Is he called Norman?

stressheaderic · 15/11/2010 19:39

I went on hol with a friend, offered her my straighteners, to which she said "no thanks, I don't know how to do it". When asked why, she said her mum does it for her, every morning before work. She's 31, I thought this was fucked up,

But mother washing adult son's hair? Weird. Would send me running for the hills.
