Right, I am only on MN as my DP has forbidden me from mentioning it!

He told me that one of his best friends (26yo) has his hair washed by his mum when he goes home. Now, is it just me or is that just f'ed up!?

YANBU. Its a dumping offence. Warning bells going off and everything. The mother is weird for wanting to do it and the son is weird for not stopping her.

AbsofCroissant · 15/11/2010 15:59

YANBU. It is totally bizarre. I applied the "how would you feel if DP did this test?" and the answer was:

  • grossed out and concerned
curlymama · 15/11/2010 16:01

Wierd. On every level.

MumInBeds · 15/11/2010 16:02

Very odd unless (and this sounds unlikely in this case) he has and illness or disability that makes it difficult for him to do it for himself.

Are you sure she doesn't dye it for him? He's gone grey early and she's helping him cover it up so the gf doesn't see or something?

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 16:03

YANBU, my MIL used to ask my DH for a foot massage, because she was competing with me for his affection,i had 'stolen 'her son,she still hasn't forgiven me coz when he refused to do it anymore, she blamed me..its weird..

cupcakesandbunting · 15/11/2010 16:08

"my MIL used to ask my DH for a foot massage"

doodlebug113 · 15/11/2010 16:09

YANBU - really very creepy indeed!

FindingMyMojo · 15/11/2010 16:38

one of the first thing my sister trained my niece to do was massage her feet & back!

re the hair washing - I don't know about that one. I'd prob have to meet them before deciding, over lunch perhaps. Smile It could be weird, it might be cute.

overmydeadbody · 15/11/2010 16:42

YANBU

She clearly has control issues.

ShanahansRevenge · 15/11/2010 16:51

Ew no...YANBU it's very weird. Booyoo it IS odd...havng your hair washed is a very sensual thing...it's a scene featured in films...where one lover washes the others hair...Sex and the City even had a thiing on it with Miranda and Steve trying to be sexy together!

ODD!

funtimewincies · 15/11/2010 16:53

My MIL cuts dbil's toenails for him Confused.

Ormirian · 15/11/2010 16:57

No it's not fucked up. Who made the rules that have been broken here? I've clearly not read the rule book Hmm

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 15/11/2010 17:01

I don't think it's weird because hairwashing is tantamount to sex. I certainly have no desire to shag the teenage girls who wash my hair at the hairdressers. But it is odd to hand such an aspect of personal bodily care to another person, when you are completely able to do it yourself. Plus hairwashing is not something you can just do in passing (as some mothers might whisk a comb through their DS's hair in seconds if they considered him scruffy), you have to go off to a room with hot water and shampoo in it.

I just don't understand why you wouldn't feel like an idiot having your mother wash your hair. Because presumably it doesn't need doing - he washes himself too right?

motherinferior · 15/11/2010 17:02

I think it's really quite....odd. To be polite about it.

diddl · 15/11/2010 17:05

Also think it´s odd.

Because you usually wash your hair whilst showering.

Dando · 15/11/2010 17:09

I agree, i think it is odd. For either sex, unless you are at the hairdressers and your hairdresser is your mum.

ChippingIn · 15/11/2010 17:10

I need to know if she's going it over the kitchen sink (vom) or while he's in the bath ...

Bloody weird if you ask me...

(sorry Orm)

diddl · 15/11/2010 17:11

So when he´s not at his mum´s, what does he do?

alemci · 15/11/2010 17:14

i find it a bit weird. He must go home alot or is it occasional or does he still live there.

i know my m in law used to cut my DH hair when we were first married. i didn't really like that and remember thinking it was a bit odd and he should get his hair cut properly.

I also didn't like it when my son went to stay at my in laws. he may have been about 11/12 and she was still going into the bathroom with him to wash his hair. he did it himself at home and had a shower in private.

Firawla · 15/11/2010 17:14

YANBU its very weird!! He's probably got 'mommy issues' - dealbreaker!

Mowiol · 15/11/2010 17:35

Does she blow-dry it for him too?

OnceUponA · 15/11/2010 17:40

I think it is weird because he is capable (I presume) of doing it himself. Not that it is weird because he wants to shag her or something.

But tooblessed, when you said it was weird that your MIL used to ask your DH for a foot massage...YABU. That isn't weird, you can't give yourself a foot massage can you? I seriously can't understand why you find that weird.

expatinscotland · 15/11/2010 17:43

That's warped and fucked up.
