I sent this to headquarters. If anyone wishes to support me great, if not well at least I tried

Hi there. It seems there is a certain amount of online bullying that happens on your website. Certain posters seem able to make very offensive comments and then either get away with it or if challeneged, they are viciously defended by their 'supporters'. I am sure this is not the culture you would wish to promote on your website and I feel tempted to report this elsewhere. I still believe that to say 'women who give up career choices they are stupid aren't they' should not be encouraged on your website where many SAHM post and do not wish to be labelled as stupid collectively. I would not make such sweeping generalisations about any group. Thank you for your time

isnt this the second thread you have started about that comment? give it a break!

BrownPaperBagOnMyHead · 03/11/2010 10:04

meh

muddleduck · 03/11/2010 10:04

yawn...

rainyrainy · 03/11/2010 10:05

actually, as someone who was bullied in work so badly I couldnt function, open my post or answer my phone I will tell you this, bullying is dreadful, its about power and control, its something as the victim, you are powerless to control and cant walk away from.

Comparing a stupid comment on a website you dont have to visit to the pain bullying causes just shows your total lack of understanding of the word, and its impact.

notwavingjustironing · 03/11/2010 10:05

Seriously, let it lie. If you don't like a thread, then don't post on it.

Starting numerous threads trying to round up non-existent support isn't going to make you feel any better.

You have your opinions, others have theirs. You've made your choice as the best one for your family. We all do the same.

We don't all have to agree. MN would be a very dull place without opinion.

PortoTreasonAndPlot · 03/11/2010 10:06

I didn't see the other thread. Surely the done thing is to put forward a valid argument for why you, for one, do not agree with this opinion - and that's what it is - an opinion, rather than run crying to MNHQ.

Can't imagine what MN poster Xenia would have said such a thing....Hmm

Chil1234 · 03/11/2010 10:06

If you post anything on a public message board you have to develop a thick skin & expect as many brickbats as bouquets. YABU to expect otherwise.

scottishmummy · 03/11/2010 10:07

wont support you nope.stop banging on you beligerent iracscible ole drone

QwertyQueen · 03/11/2010 10:07

I would think you would have to give exact examples...
Some people vehemently agree or disagree but I wouldn't call that bullying?
Sorry to hear that, rainyrainy, must have been hideous :(

notwavingjustironing · 03/11/2010 10:07

The "Hide" button is your friend. I am going to use it now.

WhyHavePets · 03/11/2010 10:07

So you are telling HQ that, if they don't change the way the site is managed (presumably by having it moderated to hell), you will "go elsewhere" (I am guessing the press or some kind of complaints commision [not sure one of those exists])? Hmm

Good luck with that!

gorionSPARKLERS · 03/11/2010 10:08

Op has your other thread been deleted? I cannot fingd it anymore. I agree with you. I do not understand why it is ok to make a sweeping genreralisation but not OK to pick people up on it if you desagree with said generalisation.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 03/11/2010 10:09

What's best to put on chicken pox spots? I was going to slather dd in calamine but someone told me that makes it worse and can cause scarring? Any thoughts?

ChickensHaveNoLips · 03/11/2010 10:09

Bullying is not tolerated on MN. You have not been bullied.

scottishmummy · 03/11/2010 10:10

not calamine, sudocreme works wonders and has antiseptic properties too

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/11/2010 10:10

BASTARD
CUNT
FUCKER

Take that, punk

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 10:10

No i cant support the twisting off someone elses differing opinion into online bullying

upahill · 03/11/2010 10:10

Blimey wishIwas I've just trawled through the other thread.

Let it go . I know you said you were sensitive but not precious but you are looking like both here as well as being a bit daft.

There a thousands of posts were I have thought 'daft cow' or ' WTF?' or 'Hmmm you may have a point' but to keep hashing something like this up is making you look bonkers tbh.

( BTW I don't give a toss if people are SAH or not)

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 03/11/2010 10:11

Is it bicarb or baking powder your meant to put in the bath?

muddleduck · 03/11/2010 10:11

It is absolutely fine to "pick people up on it if you desagree with said generalisation"

but it is unnecessary to while about it later.

muddleduck · 03/11/2010 10:11

or even whine Blush

scottishmummy · 03/11/2010 10:11

listen up,being vociferiously disagreed with isnt bullying.and genuinely if you feel so attacked and got at,what are you getting out of this

BrownPaperBagOnMyHead · 03/11/2010 10:11

hobnobs - eurax cream is best

E45 cream a close second, pop it in the fridge so that it goes on cool and soothing

oat bath (handful of oats in a pop sock, tie it to taps when you are running the bath so that the oats are in the running water) can also help to calm the itching

calpol if a fever

HTH matey

MaMoTTaT · 03/11/2010 10:12

huh what did I miss - who said what to who?
