Hot drinks at soft play?

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 12:18

There is only one soft play centre near us.
I am surprised to see hot drinks carried by staff in among the mob romping children.
Do other soft play centres do this too?
My daughter wasn't allowed a hot meal on the maternity ward in case it was spilt on a baby

Do you not have hot drinks or meals at home in case they get spilled?

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 12:26

I see :)
thanks thesecondcoming

PMSL @ TSC :o

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 12:28

Yes, I do have hot drinks at home, but there aren't so many people rolling on the floor and chasing each other.

We have hot te and coffee at our playgroup, but I don't drink them (the coffee doesn't look strong enough for tired me).

Was pretty alarmed when a lady ran over to DD whilst carrying a hot coffee and tried to help her up when she fell over (she gets herself up all the time - quite independent, so does not like/need help, unless hurt then its kisses etc). Probably sound like over anxious mother, but prefer DD to get herself up than some random spill a hot drink on her.

My favourite soft play near us does costa coffee. I love it.
I don't take it into the ball pool though - just have it at my table.

DanceOnTheDarkSide · 28/10/2010 12:42

Presumably the hot drinks are not being drunk while on the equipment?

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 12:48

No, no hot drinks on the play equipment, but the children play among the tables too.
The bottom of the main slide comes out between the cafe and the tables iyswim.

Agree with TSC - if I'm going to suffer soft play then I need compensation - surely the children remain the responsibility of their parents? Not that I have ever followed any of mine around, but as no food or drink is allowed on the play area bits then surely if the kids are mucking around in the seating area where parents are carrying drinks then their own parents would see them and intervene

There's a soft play half a mile away but the one the opposite side of town sells wine so we always go to that one Grin

colditz · 28/10/2010 12:52

Children need to be taught not to play under tables. Tables are for eating and drinking. It's not a safe place to play.

PaisleyPumpkin · 28/10/2010 13:06

"The bottom of the main slide comes out between the cafe and the tables iyswim"
Well that is just silly. What a bad design.

thelunar66 · 28/10/2010 13:09

Agree completely. Stick to wine or vodka at soft play - tis the way forward.

LittleMissHissyFangs · 28/10/2010 13:12

lol lunar! That's the solution! :)

MamaVoo · 28/10/2010 13:15

Why doesn't my softplay hell hole sell wine? Envy I demand wine!

Yes please! Wine? At softplay? Genius!

hystericalmum · 28/10/2010 15:06

They sell alcohol at one close to me! Grin

PrettyPirate · 28/10/2010 15:09

Oh yes, wine here tooSmile Once I saw french grandparents sharing a little bottle at 11am!

Doha · 28/10/2010 15:10

Alcohol at soft play---no no no

i have seen too many people go to a local soft play and get pissed while their DC's are playing on the equipment.

Soft play is for kids.

But what gives me the boak is the ball pools....
How many kids wee /poo/are sick amongst these balls , and they never get cleaned, so unhygenic .

Mishy1234 · 28/10/2010 15:17

Soft play is for kids, not for parents to drink alcohol. I also don't agree with hot drinks around children's play areas.

YANBU OP.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/10/2010 15:56

i NEED a cuppa/hot chocolate and a biccy if at a soft play place

agree children need to be told NOT to play by tables tho the slide sounds silly

if only they would sell wine .......

Worth travelling to Northampton for - clean soft play for littlies - laser quest for olders next door and wine for adults
