Hot drinks at soft play?

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 12:18

There is only one soft play centre near us.
I am surprised to see hot drinks carried by staff in among the mob romping children.
Do other soft play centres do this too?
My daughter wasn't allowed a hot meal on the maternity ward in case it was spilt on a baby

thesecondcoming- I like (ok love!) wine as much as the next person, but I really don't think a children's soft play area is the place. I think if people can't wait to drink alcohol somewhere appropriate, it says more about them than about me needign to 'loosen up'! In any case, a glass of wine here and there is probably ok, but there are always those who push it too far. I don't want my kids around a load of drunk adults who can't stick to a reasonable limit.

of course hot drinks are permitted.need caffeine to endure noise and yakk of children and adults

if they didnt sell tea and cake i coulnt cope

scottishmummy · 28/10/2010 16:48

i always do plenty wine when i do kids party, and by god all the noise and squashed cake i need it

whoever suggested wine at soft play-yes yes

BuntyPenfold · 28/10/2010 16:51

Its not that they are in the same building though, its the way freshly made coffee is carried over heads of toddlers that worries me.

I understand the need for caffeine and sugar. I think an earplug dispenser is needed too....

yes the nanny wears brora, cant be seen to be working class.need to differentiate oneself

MaMoTTaT · 28/10/2010 17:20

haha - I read TSC's first post as Jesus, coffee and cake were the only things to get you through the hell Grin

Mishy1234 · 28/10/2010 17:22

Oh fgs sake ScottishMummy...you know, you're quite right. Too many years wasted on an alcoholic I'm afraid. No children of our own, but his brother had two and lets just say it wasn't a great environment for kids.

Can't believe all that came from a post about hot drinks at soft play!

Mishy1234 · 28/10/2010 17:25

Jesus, I can't even get people's names right now my knickers are in such a twist. Sorry ScottishMummy, I was replying to thesecondcoming.

carocaro · 28/10/2010 17:25

YAB so U

what will they think of next!

forks at teatime so children can stab themselves!

stairs for getting into bed that children call fall down!

sweets children can choke on!

you need to get a grip, be responsible with your child and stop imagining many horific "what if" senarious.

MaMoTTaT · 28/10/2010 17:26

so adults must never drink alcohol while children are having fun Confused

Hulababy · 28/10/2010 17:27

I wouldn't go to soft play if I couldn't get a hot drink!

scottishmummy · 28/10/2010 17:28

as i said i always do wine&food at my kids parties.is the civilised thing to do.and a useful distraction

GoreRenewed · 28/10/2010 20:11

DH and I have been discussing hot play and we have concluded it definitely requires wine or champagne, not soft drinks.

And no kids.

gomummygo · 28/10/2010 20:24

LOL at some of this thread! Grin

However, OP, YANBU - where I live there are no hot drinks allowed at soft play centres, nor any unhealthy drinks or snacks of any kind.

When I was first told about this wonderful centre with excellent staff I was so excited to take DS. And then utterly devastated on our first visit, as they took my precious morning coffee away!

We only visit in the afternoons now. :)
