if you have pets, yanbu.
if you have small children yanbu

mumblechum · 22/10/2010 11:19

What, the whole house?

I clean the whole house once a week, which takes a whole day. I hoover the hall probably every other day as people always trail mud in, but I certainly wouldn't be hoovering guest rooms, other unused rooms regularly.

PlasticinePolly · 22/10/2010 11:19

If that's how you want to spend your time them it's totally fine.

I vacuum once a week

SheWillBeLoved · 22/10/2010 11:19

Every other day at a stretch. Wooden floors which show up every little speck of dust/hair/crumbs. Apparently I'm odd for hoovering wooden/tiled floors though, my mum was baffled as to why I wasn't using a brush Hmm

forpitysake · 22/10/2010 11:26

i do everywhere upstairs once a week but downstairs everyday. one hairy cat+a dog+a dislike for hairs in my food/cuppa=daily hoovering

i used hoover on wooden floors in old house. only way to stop it floating about everywhere

i hoover twice a day- i hoover the playroom 3 times a day!!! i love hoovering Grin

PaisleyPumpkin · 22/10/2010 11:28

I guess it's the downside of having pets.

AuntiePickleBottom · 22/10/2010 11:30

i hoover downstairs once a day (in the evening), but i get the dustpan and brush out at least 4 times in the day

SeaTrek · 22/10/2010 11:30

YANBU

I either do it once or twice a day (what it really needs I guess) or once a week (what it usually gets)!

YABU to refer to it as 'hoover' though. It is vacuum Gin.

forpitysake · 22/10/2010 11:30

blimey rdmommy - i thought i was bad Shock Grin

OP posts:
mumblechum · 22/10/2010 11:31

Hmm, I have neither pets nor small children. Please don't judge me for only hoovering once a week!

SeaTrek · 22/10/2010 11:32

Gin = Grin. Must have something on my mind...

Anyway, I am off to miele the carpets.

shinyshoes · 22/10/2010 11:33

I hoover through the house once a week but hoover downstairs everyday.

There are 5 of us in this house and a dog

YANBU

forpitysake · 22/10/2010 11:33

ooh get you with your miele Grin

gibbberish · 22/10/2010 11:33

I hoover downstairs every day (no pets or toddlers) and upstairs once a week.

Can't stand seeing 'bits' on the floor. Even if the whole place has been tidied and cleaned, it looks awful if the floor isn't hoovered.

That's just me though!

MarshaBrady · 22/10/2010 11:35

Do you put the hoover away each time?

The hoovering isn't as bad a lugging the thing out of the cupboard hete..

ayjayjay · 22/10/2010 11:35

I hate hoovering do you want to come and do mine too :)
We only do ours once a week but then I have very low domestic standards.

MarshaBrady · 22/10/2010 11:35

um here

ZombiePlan · 22/10/2010 11:35

[hblush] I only hoover once or twice a week...

forpitysake · 22/10/2010 11:35

i like you shinyshoes! i know i could have a cuppa at yours without hair floating into my drink. some people i know dont seem to notice it in their house (including my mum Hmm) and id hate to think thats what folks would think about mine

Nefret · 22/10/2010 11:36

rdmommy - do you want to come round and Hoover my house too? Wink

I do a really good Hoover once a week. In the living room, where we have a dark blue carpet that shows up everything I either get the big Hoover out and give it a quick going over or the little hand held one if it isn't too bad.

SeaTrek - I have a Dyson but I still call it a Hoover Wink

gibbberish · 22/10/2010 11:37

I have a Henry hoover and talk to him as I hoover round the house, telling him off when he bumps into doors for example...

stressSeveredHeadOnaStickEric · 22/10/2010 11:38

I don't, but I really should. Damn cream carpets...

This is clearly a middle-class thread though, and I've no business here. All this talk of "playroom", "other unused rooms", "guest rooms" ... hahahahahahahaha

Purplebuns · 22/10/2010 11:41

Gibbberish all of us at work regularly tell Henry off, and accuse him of being drunk. :)

GreenasJade · 22/10/2010 11:41

I do the living room and hall twice a day, morning and late afternoon after I have done a big tidy up. I have to, live in a small flat and it would descend into chaos if I didn't keep on top of it.

Bedrooms only get done once a week though.
