KeithTalent · 22/10/2010 11:42

We have tiny flat and I hoover every day.

We are in the house a lot though- sahm and 4 dc.

largeginandbloodpunch · 22/10/2010 11:46

I am always bloody hoovering.

At least twice a day.

Children. Make. A. Mess.

Grrrrr

DomesticG0ddess · 22/10/2010 11:46

YANBU - I run the electric thing round every day (I would recommend this if you have wooden floors instead of having to use the hoover everyday). Cats + small child + white wooden floors = lots of visible mess.

But only in the kitchen and dining room. The rest gets done twice a week if I have time.

LetThereBeRock · 22/10/2010 11:50

What's the electric thing?

I vacuum the living room and hall every day. The whole house is cleaned every 4 days.

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/10/2010 11:50

Have got parquet flooring which shows up dust and dirt, so has to be swept or hoovered every day. And bloody mopped a lot. Really shows the dirt.

Mind you it is better than carpets, what with 2 black cats and a builder DP who trails sand everywhere.

thefirstmrsDeVeerie · 22/10/2010 11:52

AIBU for getting all excited at the title of this thread?

I hoover therefore I am.

Twice a day if I can manage it. Including under sofas etc

I am looking for a cheap 'upstairs' hoover. I live in a small three bedroom house Blush

In my defence

DS2 has very severe eczema
DD was very sick and had no immune system

Before all this didnt even own a hoover.

I also have a steam mop that I love because it sterilizes as it cleans

My house is not all tidy. Its a shabby chic (hahaha) missmash with tons of toys and stuff.

But there is NO DUST.

JinnyS · 22/10/2010 11:55

I have a Henry Hoover too which is why I have to hoover every day.

I think I got a bad one

gibbberish · 22/10/2010 12:01

purplebuns Grin Don't feel quite so much a freak now!

Jinny, my Henry has been injured in the course of duty. He has lost a castor but still dutifully hobbles around hoovering every day without fail.

If only I could find a man who is so willing and reliable.

JinnyS · 22/10/2010 12:17

Oh I am so envious. I though my Henry would be the solution to my problems but he's just added to them as now I have to find somewhere to keep him.

He doesn't suck and has a wobbly hose. He is useless

gibbberish · 22/10/2010 12:19

He needs to be put into a retirement home by the sounds of it.

Sad
thefirstmrsDeVeerie · 22/10/2010 12:21

I have a Henrietta cos its pink

I will probably be hounded off MNs now

mumeeee · 22/10/2010 12:21

I hoover downstairs about 3 times a week at the most and upstairs once a week. Although I do often more often if the it looks like I ned to.

JinnyS · 22/10/2010 12:23

He's only 6 months old. I bought him because I was sick of my dyson being used inappropriately. Dyson's don't like DIY

Henry quite likes DIY but hates cleaning anything below the surface of a carpet.

The perfect appliance is out there somewhere

FindingMymOOOOOOOOjo · 22/10/2010 12:27

you sound like my sister - she's OCD though.

When I stayed there recently I had to hoover whenever DD & I left the house, so there wouldn't be a speck to stress sister out when she got home from work. She also has a rug where all the fringing has to be in straight lines. She also has stress related alopecia though it's been better the last year or so.

I was there once when the vaccum cleaner broke - I thought she was going to have a heart attack. Shock

I do love my sisters house though - wonderful to walk around in bare feet Smile

Yummygummybear · 22/10/2010 12:35

YABU & making me feel like a slut Grin

SerendipityAlways · 22/10/2010 12:37

Hoovering a house twice a day is excessive in my opinion, unless you have lots of dogs and cats indoors.

FlumpetMum · 22/10/2010 12:37

What do you want, some sort of medal? Hoover or not, who cares really? It's your filth.

Sidge · 22/10/2010 12:41

I love to hoover [hblush]

I have an upstairs upright vac and a downstairs cylinder Miele. I hoover upstairs 2-3 times a week, and do downstairs every day. No pets but I have 3 long haired daughters that shed more than any animal!

I can't sit and relax in the evening until everything is tidied away and I've hoovered and cleaned the sticky fingermarks off the side/TV/tables. We have a sort of open plan lounge-dining room-kitchen so everything gets walked through.

I tut when the girls make crumbs or drop food but I'm secretly pleased that I have something substantial to hoover up [hgrin]

Sassybeast · 22/10/2010 12:44

Downstairs every day but I have wooden floors and they REALLY show up the gruff. Stairs and upstairs - not as often Wink My mum used to hoover the whole house every day - even rooms that hadn't been used and the house was bloody huge Confused

sue52 · 22/10/2010 12:48

I hoover everyday, upstairs, downstairs, the stairs, I even hoover after the cleaner has been in case she missed a bit. I'm a bit hoovering ocd.

Tiredmumno1 · 22/10/2010 13:08

We usually hoover twice a do aswell.

sometimes its 3 times, when i follow ds2 around if he is eating something with crumbs Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 22/10/2010 13:09

a do Hmm i obviously meant a day Grin

thefirstmrsDeVeerie · 22/10/2010 17:29

Damn this thread! Made me have a look for a cheap upstairs hoover and I ended up buying a toy Hetty and matching cleaning trolley for me DS3 for Christmas.

Which then obviously made me have a look on the Cath Kidson website and I just bought a few bits (bits, Icant afford actual big stuff) too.

For Christmas you understand.

BaggyCoconut · 22/10/2010 17:55

I seem to hover endlessly, one rabbit, three little mess monsters and the big destroyer of tidyness (yes that would be DP), and I dont seem to have a blooming choice in the matter!

mistletoekisses · 22/10/2010 18:12

Once a day in the main rooms downstairs...looks mucky otherwise and only takes a couple of mins! Have two young DC, youngest puts everything in his mouth so am even more fastidious than normal.
