To enjoy a wee joint every night to unwind?

Alcohol makes me feel like crap, but having a small joint helps me relax and sleep. I don't smoke cigs, do coke, e's, crack etc and generally lead a healthy lifestyle. Work p/t, have 2 DC.

Think I would have grown out of it, gave it up easily when TTC, pregnant and when breastfeeding x 2, but still enjoy the feeling it brings! AIBU?

OP posts:
Olifin · 15/10/2010 15:42

YANBU, if it's under control.

I really miss it but had to leave it alone as I got really dependent on it. That's not the drug's flaw but mine. I do everything to excess and find it really hard to moderate so have to stay away from booze, spliffs and cake for the most part.

SuzieHomemaker · 15/10/2010 15:42

One of the few sources of pride in my life is that when DH and I are asked by DCs if we ever took drugs we can both say honestly that we didnt.

OP, it's time to grow up I'm afraid.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2010 15:43

God cannabis abusers always think they are so cool and they pally up with one another and validate how cool they all are, for being part of the 'Pot Club'. This thread is a classic example of this. Seriously grow up.

booooooooooyhoo · 15/10/2010 15:46

of urse her dcs will be exposed to it. it will be in the house and on her clothing/her/skin etc. and what happens when her dc start staying up later? will she suddenly stop. me thinks not if she is needing to have a joint everynight as it is.

Marjee · 15/10/2010 15:46

Yanbu, I used to like the occasional joint before I started ttc. When I've stopped breastfeeding I'll probably have some weed to celebrate/commiserate. Its been so long since I had a joint, I really miss it!

booooooooooyhoo · 15/10/2010 15:47

agree with others that say grow up.

Lotster · 15/10/2010 15:47

Ha ha, "Pot Club" Grin

If you are in Pot Club, are you allowed to talk about Pot Club?

Olifin · 15/10/2010 15:47

Which comments here make you think that Purple?

NerdyFace · 15/10/2010 15:51

purplebuns

Coming into a thread with nothing but some passive aggressive nonesense smacks of immaturity, why dont you grow up?

RandomMusings · 15/10/2010 15:51

yeuch

thanks for the explanation Frightnight

honestly, I am just not down wiv da kids at all

Purplebuns · 15/10/2010 15:52

Anyone that comments YANBU A classic example being 'actually smoking is very old skool - you need a vaporizer!' HAHA so witty. NOT.

Lotster- not a clue.. take up some smoking and I am sure one of these idiots will embrace you into their 'hood' man.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2010 15:53

Nerdyface in my own time, thanks for the advice though :)

Olifin · 15/10/2010 15:55

Well, not all of the posters saying 'YANBU' are or have been pot smokers so I don't agree.

Your comments are quite aggressive.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2010 15:58

Maybe so but I am intensely irritated by pot smokers. I probably shouldn't have posted really. I have been personally affected by people who smoke pot and have a very jaded view of people who do it.

GoreRenewed · 15/10/2010 16:00

It doesn't bother me. The worst thing about pot is it makes me eat too much, giggle like a loon or alternatively fall into deep and thoughtful (stoned) silences, and then snore.

I prefer red wine myself these days.

GoreRenewed · 15/10/2010 16:01

BTW is a wee joint another name for a public loo?

wukterWOOO · 15/10/2010 16:01

Just because some people agree doesn't make them a Club. How silly.

Anyway this whole thread is just a windup.

ByTheSea · 15/10/2010 16:03

IMO, YANBU.

TorcherQueenie · 15/10/2010 16:04

furryfungus would you like to come meet my intelligent well behaved and well rounded DD? We smoke in the garden and DD is still top of her class and well ahead in her reading as to have been termed by her teachers at various times as "a very gifted little girl" "an absolute joy to have in class" "The most intelligent child I have had the luck to work with".

I know the risks of cannabis I choose to smoke it not you. You might partake of a glass of a wine, don't worry I'm not like you. I won't judge you for damaging yourself with all those evil toxins. Grin

earlymorningwaking · 15/10/2010 16:04

I have been personally affected by people who drink alcohol.

Doesn't give me the right to put my judgey pants on and point the finger at everyone who has a glass of red to wind down.

Olifin · 15/10/2010 16:06

Fair enough Purplebuns.

Sadly, alcohol wrecks families and lives too.

Doesn't make either ok, nor does it automatically make them reprehensible activities since the vast majority of people can control their usage of alcohol and/or pot.

YunoWhatYouDidLastSummer · 15/10/2010 16:10

I realise that the plural of anecdote is not fact (hee hee I love saying that) but my personal experience of pot smokers has been to watch them amble happily to the bottom of the pile.

Intellegent, hard working people just sort of giving up. They'll do everything manana. This is HUGELY damaging to your life. It is such a fucking waste. And I'm buggered if it is what I would want for me or anyone I loved.

Does anyone know any together, high achieving pot smokers? I don't.

Thingumy · 15/10/2010 16:11

Fright-am not going to argue with you but my 'whitey' experience with my last ever intake of dope was not one that was mixed with alcohol.I'm stupid but not that bloody stupid.

I just felt like utter shite after 3 puffs-racey thoughts/paranoia and puked. and then felt sorry for myself.

I learnt my lesson folks.

ByTheSea · 15/10/2010 16:12

Actually, I know quite a few together, high-achieving pot smokers.

Olifin · 15/10/2010 16:12

I do Yuno!

A guy who smokes very regularly and has a fantastic high-earning job in IT. Drives a very nice Audi and has a lovely wife and 4 children.

Just an anecdote though!
