To enjoy a wee joint every night to unwind?

ganga · 15/10/2010 14:13

Alcohol makes me feel like crap, but having a small joint helps me relax and sleep. I don't smoke cigs, do coke, e's, crack etc and generally lead a healthy lifestyle. Work p/t, have 2 DC.

Think I would have grown out of it, gave it up easily when TTC, pregnant and when breastfeeding x 2, but still enjoy the feeling it brings! AIBU?

Depends - do you have a DH or DP? If so, YABU. My DH smokes a joint a few nights a week and it makes him very very dull company.

Example - 2 nights ago, sat together avidly watching The Apprentice. It ends...

Me: Oh my god that was so unfair, she should nnot have been fired. She was a scapegoat

DH: Who?

Me: What do you mean who? The one who just got fired!

DH: Oh is the Apprentice on?

There is probably more proof of Alcohol
causing "Under Achievement" and "Mental Illness" than weed.

furryfungus · 15/10/2010 15:07

So do neither to excess then. Children don't get a choice when exposed to this.

HalfTermHero · 15/10/2010 15:08

What you are doing is MADNESS. Everyone knows that weed is a 'gateway' drug. You will be fast on the way to hell in a handbasket with a crackpipe before your feet get a chance to touch. Also it was documented in the news a while back that someone once smoked a joint, thought he was a ninja turtle and went out murdered a milkman. For the love of God, reign it in now before it is too late.

DuelingFanjo · 15/10/2010 15:08

what do you smoke it with?

Hedgeblunder · 15/10/2010 15:10

Grow up.

NordicPrincess · 15/10/2010 15:12

she hasnt said her children are exposed to it. theres nothing wrong with smoking a bit of weed, a joint a night is hardly much. You have probebly come to the wrong website to voicen these views, most people on here will believe anything that they get told enough times.

Some people will develop mental illness after they have started smoking weed, however they may have deleloped mental illness without the weed wel just never know. Cannabis is not a gate way drug, alcohol is but most people in this country still drink.

Do what you want to as long as you are safe. Its your life, my dad smoked weed all his life he is successful and normal and did not abuse me. I have never smoked anything and never felt differently towards him because of it.

enjoy it and let be!

MrsC2010 · 15/10/2010 15:14

Yawn

GetOrfMoiLand · 15/10/2010 15:16

Oh god I loathe potsmokers.

My mother has to have 2 joints every night. She is a feckless wastrel, and it has affected her life. It has affected her mentally, she is paranoid and a depressive.

I do understand that for most people an occasional puff doesn't mean a slippery slope into drugs hell, but my experience of it has made me zero tolerance with pot.

I don't think it equates with wine/beer of an evening. If you have a glass of wine at least you know what it is. Pot has changed over the years, some of it is now bloody strong. What my mum smokes varies from month to month. This (amonsgt other things) is what has contributed to the breakdown of my relationship with my mother. I don't think it is harmless stuff at all.

furryfungus · 15/10/2010 15:16

NordicPrincess...her children will be exposed to it...the same as smoking. Haven't been to any websites to express these views....there is good reason why these drugs are illegal.

Lotster · 15/10/2010 15:17

Ahhh, missed Fridays on MN...

Ganga look what you've done to AuntiPickleBottom, she's all in a frenzy! You should be ashamed.

p.s. if you are in any way for real.. putting the word "wee" in front of things doesn't make them less bad for you Grin

earlymorningwaking · 15/10/2010 15:20

Anything to excess is damaging - booze, weed, etc but in moderation can't see why it's a prob. If I ate 3 cream cakes a night it would have negative effects.. Which is why I don't.

And please.. smoking cannabis normally (ie not all day!) doesn't cause mental illness. Government scare tactics. Designed to make us stick to alcohol - taxable.

Blaze away OP!

scotsmuminengland · 15/10/2010 15:22

I used to smoke weed and yet I am not a mad heroin junkie.

It is not a gateway to more dangerous drugs. It is the person, not the drug

earlymorningwaking · 15/10/2010 15:22

Oh, and varying strengths is a very good reason to legalise and therefore regulate strength.

expatinscotland · 15/10/2010 15:23

I don't see any problem with it, tbh.

I think that idea that everyone who smokes pot will become a raving lunatic and junkie is a total fallacy.

RandomMusings · 15/10/2010 15:23

What is a whitey, Thungumy?

NewTeacher · 15/10/2010 15:26

Its ganja not GANGA! LOL

furryfungus · 15/10/2010 15:27

earlymorningwaking....wonder where you got your paranoia from?

NordicPrincess · 15/10/2010 15:27

how will her children be exposed? open a window or have it in the garden like you might a ciggerette, its not rocket science. Weed isnt taxable, and why do you pay more attention to the beliefs of gov who are just bowing down to certain news paper pressures rather than the views of the scientists and doctors who actually know what they are talking about.

furryfungus · 15/10/2010 15:28

Time to leave druggie fuckwits to their own little world.

earlymorningwaking · 15/10/2010 15:34

Paranoia? I'm not paranoid at all! I'm amused that you are drawing conclusions about my personality from a few lines on an Internet forum.

But I will continue to enjoy my own world, thankyou!

NerdyFace · 15/10/2010 15:36

furryfungus

I don't do drugs or drink, however I would rather be around the "Druggie Fuckwits", than "Clueless Moronic Fuckwits" like yourself M'kay? Smile
