Mitchum, smart solid deodorant for men (what's the difference for women?)

I bought two of these stick deodorants, the deodorant part fell off both of them, making them unusable, when I rolled it up, and no I didn't roll it up too much.

Anyone else?

I love the idea of a washing machine travellingg under a flag of convenience.Grin I know what you mean though - I hate it when different names are given to basically the same thing - you have to be uber-detective everytime you buy something.

jafina · 14/10/2010 09:45

Absolute crap:

  • dust buster, dh just laughs when I try to use it,
- Annabel karmel ice cube tray things for freezing baby food, not dishwasher safe FFS
  • Dualit toaster and kettle, both binned, toaster wouldn't turn off and was a fire hazard, kettle blew fuse too many times
  • replaced by magimix crap toaster and crap kettle which has to be turned on about 10 times for one effing cup of tea
  • touché éclat, total waste of money
  • tresemme shampoo, bought a massive bottle and it turned my hair to straw, back to good old pantene!
  • eliz arden 8hr, total waste of money, I now use it on the children, stick with Vaseline

Not crap IMHO :

  • gap pj's fit my long skinny kids perfectly and are fab quality
  • ecover washing up liquid, love it!
  • clarions beauty flash balm, fab and the eye one is genius
ornamentalcabbage · 14/10/2010 09:51

Yes, I had forgotten about dust busters, I threw ours away a long time ago. And 8 hour cream! There ought to be a case for misdescribing that as cream!

FetchezLaVache · 14/10/2010 21:27

Loving this thread- have had a crappy day and it's cheered me right up! Grin

I would like to add Boots washable breast pads. They cleverly incorporate absolutely no contouring, which means they make great drinks mats or mini frisbees, but rather poor breast pads. It is perhaps because of my early experiences of these that I rather like supermarket value-brand disposable ones.

Any unnecessary kitchen gadget in the manner of stabby things for cooking baked potatoes in a microwave, or stupid silicone things to make the onerous task of boiling eggs that bit more manageable, or any of the other hideous tat that DH comes home with on a regular basis. Fortunately, he forgets about it as soon as he's bought it, so I quite often manage to wrap it up and give it to one of our ever-diminishing circle of friends as birthday presents without him noticing.

ChocolateMoose · 14/10/2010 22:10

ELC water slide toy. Doesn't actually work at all. Should have read the reviews first.

missmiss · 14/10/2010 23:30

Thanks Spooky and Pineapple, I'll try your suggestions.
Mostly because I would like my loo to smell like coke rather than wee, as it dos currently despite the overpriced toilet duck rim-block I bought last week.

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 15/10/2010 10:36

We had that one too ChocolateMoose. It never worked.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 17/10/2010 13:29

1001 carpet mousse with a scrubby head thing, utter rubbish. kind of removes marks if they aren't any longer than say, an hour old and apply any amount of pressure to said scrubby head thing it just pops off.

Think I've given myself an RSI in my hand from holding it so tightly! Angry

washngo · 17/10/2010 13:42

SAGEM freesat digibox - oh why oh why did we get rid of Sky? Sometimes I think i've recorded something really important and worthwhile like Strictly Come Dancing, and find that the box has decided, in it's superior wisdom that I should not be watching that crap. So when i sit down with my hot chocolate, ready to press play, i am very disappointed. And don't bother looking at the TV guide unless your favourite words are "No Information Available".

Flatliners · 28/05/2013 22:50

All 3 White Company jumpers I purchased in late 2012 turned into rags, with masses of bobbles/piling, at the first hand wash. One stepped hem ladies wool jumper (£80) and two childrens wool jumpers (£26 and £18 respectively). I complained and their response was to send a piling comb. This proved useless. The White Company sells the only jumpers from which I've had to painstakingly remove pilling at every single wash-grr!! I was deeply embarrassed that my child's grandmother asked me why I had dressed him in a ragged cardigan and could I not afford to provide him with proper clothing?

quesadilla · 28/05/2013 22:56

Young's fish fingers. Literally inedible. I couldnt cut them with a steak knife. i prepared them for my dd as a last resort when had no other food in the house and they were so disgusting I opted to let her go without. Am frankly amazed they are on sale.

Flatliners · 28/05/2013 22:58

Yeah, you get the 12 months 'guarantee' waved in your face when your Mamas and Papas Prairie wardrobe breaks apart front and back 2 years after purchase (back separated from main body after 7 months of 'service'). Ours is teetering and in perfect condition to fall on top of a hapless toddler (kept in place to show to trading standards who will question the safety of the cursed thing).

Bluebell99 · 28/05/2013 23:03

Ooh zombie thread :) I agree about Mitchum stick deodorant, I complained and got sent some vouchers, think their customer service was in the USA, very friendly service. I do like the roll on deodorant though, just the stick one is pants and breaks off.

mum47 · 28/05/2013 23:08

Our tin kitchen food bin - I was seduced by the lovely sage green tin, much nicer than the practical plastic one we had. In reality it is far too small, the inside plastic bin gets stuck inside it, the only disposable plastic bags we can get for it are far too big and have to overlap the edge of the bin, which looks really untidy - it is a right palavar and DH is often heard to be muttering about the bloody bin that I bought..

mum47 · 28/05/2013 23:09

Ooh just noticed the dates too Bluebell , wonder why it has reappeared again after so long. A good, fun thread though!

meddie · 28/05/2013 23:14

shark steam mop. worked for about 2 weeks, stopped working then the tank exploded showering my legs with steam and hot water.....

nosleeptilever · 28/05/2013 23:18

Great thread!
Can I add Munchkin brand anything. We bought the suction cup bowls which were supposed to stop ds from chucking his food on the floor. Useless as tits on a bull they were. What made it even worse was that it resisted just enough so that when you pulled it off it flung the contents even further. Grrr.

threerings · 28/05/2013 23:32

good thread, The Meep Kids Tablet last christmas was a pile of shite and was brought back to Argos. few days after Never again

mrdarceych · 28/05/2013 23:42

The belveva bra... JML again i think... Seriously crappolata!

foreverondiet · 29/05/2013 00:04

Re: mitchen - roll ons better if use stick can only roll up 1mm at a time or breaks.

Slow cooker essential to buy one with "low" setting - fine then all day.

SignoraStronza · 29/05/2013 00:54

She-wee. Think you can probably guess why. Although in its defence, I was slightly inebriated and standing next to my friend, who was giving hers its maiden festival usage - right next to the fence (where the boys wee) and cackling loudly. Blush

alltoomuchrightnow · 29/05/2013 01:56

All Mitchum's deo's gave me a rash.
All Benefit's mascaras
Any Asda / Iceland own brand food
Touche eclat
Air purifier thingy meant to suck in dust
Lipstick pens
Spanx (grrr)
All gel eyeliners (pencils and non) ...meant to last longer. Bollox.
Revlon lip butter
Ped Egg (never looked back after discovering Soap & Glory file)
Advantix cameras.. who remembers those?! Actually i never bought but had to sell them. They were SHITE! (at least I got commission at Christmas)
That Waitrose baby cream (tub of grease, break out central) that was raved about on MN

alltoomuchrightnow · 29/05/2013 01:57

all rock crystal deodorants (do NOT work, might as well rub a lump of flintstone in pits for all the good they did)

alltoomuchrightnow · 29/05/2013 01:59

Iglu (for mouth ulcers) I can't get Adcortyl anymore

ChubbyKitty · 29/05/2013 02:37

Catnip drops. I've met a lot of cats and none of them showed the slightest interest, they all prefer the Good Stuff in leaf formWink

Not that I encourage cats to use drugs.
