5yr olds peeing in the bushes

Yesterday on the walk home from school my friend's ds stopped for a pee in the bushes. A mother and her dd came by and really had a go at both mum and her ds. She basically said he should not be exposing himself to her dd. I was shocked and thought she was seriously overreacting, AIBU?

no don't think you are
massive over reaction

emmie31 · 07/10/2010 11:15

When you're little and you've gotta go, you've gotta go... My 4 year old son was playing in the park the other day must have got carried away , then shouted " oh no, wee wees! " He then pulled his pants down and wee'd on the grass in front of everyone.. thankfully the mums and dads either laughed or said "at least he didn't do it in his pants" the children on the other hand didn't bat an eyelid .

Exposing himself? What a disgusting woman. Exposing oneself is classed as a sexual crime. She obviously has a very warped mind and needs to get a grip pronto.

DooinMeSizers · 07/10/2010 11:17

I wonder what this mum will do when her child starts reception, if she is worried about children 'exposing' themselves to her Hmm

I'm sure my child is not only the one who gets involved with 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours'?

YANBU btw.

deepheat · 07/10/2010 11:20

YANBU. Simple as. Have sympathy for her though, as it would appear she lives in a perpetual state of fear, anger and anxiety. First its peeing in the bushes, she is probably now concerned that your sone will escalate quickly to armed robbery.

Got to worry for her daughter as well. From this age she is being bought up to think that willies are terrible. Would love to listen in on their birds and bees chat.

mumeeee · 07/10/2010 11:27

YANBU. That was a big over reaction

duchesse · 07/10/2010 11:29

Massive overreaction. Woman has issues.

MyMamaToldMe · 07/10/2010 11:34

YANBU - what a loonie

Rocklover · 07/10/2010 11:35

Crikey what an idiotic woman. I take my 5yo dd to swimming lessons every week and in the female changing rooms there are always boys in with their mums getting changed (ranging from toddlers up to around 6yo).

Dd never bats an eyelid and most kids wouldn't unless parents tell them it's wrong to see the opposite sex naked. How on earth does this woman cope with taking her dd swimming, or letting her change for PE at school?

IMO she is taking her child's innocence away herself by making such an issue out of a little boy's bits and pieces. Barking!

BleachedWhale · 07/10/2010 11:37

YANBU.
Anyone who thinks in terms of a 5 yo child as 'exposing themselves' has ishoooooooos. And is a loony.

Giddyup · 07/10/2010 11:41

YABU When my son and his friends were about 3 or 4 years old (still at pre-school) they spent alot of time in the bushes at the park having a good old nosey in each others pants. A woman came up to me and said that she wouldn't let it happen and she would be seriously trying to find out who put these ideas into their heads and why! She was young with a pre-schooler herself...

NordicPrincess · 07/10/2010 11:44

theres nothing wrong with 5yr olds willy, theres something wrong with her mind for thinking that way. my children wee in bushes and i hope they always do!

colditz · 07/10/2010 11:46

She has issues. Anyone thinking of a five year old boy's penis in a threateningly sexual manner is a fruitcake. A five year old's penis is the size and shape of a Wotsit.

fragola · 07/10/2010 12:03

YANBU. "Exposing himself"???! What a vile woman. Are only girls allowed to wee in bushes?

msbear · 07/10/2010 12:04

Thanks lovely sane peeps!:)

pinkmagic1 · 07/10/2010 12:06

I agree she has issues. He is 5 years old for gods sake!

scaryteacher · 07/10/2010 12:07

Tell her to come and live in Belgium where I saw grown men pee in the car park outside the restaurant I'd eaten at the other day. I'd had sausages....

SeaTrek · 07/10/2010 12:07

YANBU
Woman sounds quite nasty and more than a little odd.

lollymad · 07/10/2010 12:14

Wally with big ishooos!! She'd never cope in France with blokes stopping cars at the side of the road to use a convenient gateway/tree/anything else!!

SweetKate · 07/10/2010 12:14

DS is five and in year 1. I have to take him to the loo as soon as he finishes school otherwise he needs to have a wee on the way home. He has pretty poor bladder control. I would rather he wees in the bushes than wets himself - which is the other option!!

Hedgeblunder · 07/10/2010 12:30

Does she not have boys herself??
What a weirdo! Ime girls can hold it better than boys but little boys have to go!

I got a bit pissed off a while back with a dad letting a little boy pee on the front of a house (not his own!) when there's little alley ways behind every row of houses.

melikalikimaka · 07/10/2010 12:34

I saw a full grown man in broad daylight having a wee in a hedge on our road, now that is worrying. There are not enough public toilets around. [and I am scared of those automatic ones, aren't you?]

Parents who have a piss anywhere attitude have children who aren't good at controlling their bladders. I let my 4 year old piss anywhere vaguely outside because he cannot wait more than 20 seconds.
