5yr olds peeing in the bushes

Yesterday on the walk home from school my friend's ds stopped for a pee in the bushes. A mother and her dd came by and really had a go at both mum and her ds. She basically said he should not be exposing himself to her dd. I was shocked and thought she was seriously overreacting, AIBU?

i took ds to football training the other week and stayed throughout (normally i don't).

i TOTALLY had a catsbum face! their training pitch is a bit of a jog to the clubhouse BUT ALL of them, at various intervals over the course of 90 minutes, went off for a pee in the hedge at the edge of the pitch. they are 10 and 11 year oldsShock!!

ds looked at me as if i was unhinged when i asked him if this was part of their regular training regime, but when i asked dh, apparently this is totally normal and happens all the time Hmm Hmm Hmm

i think it is a weird man thing...possibly like dogs and lamposts...

I think most mothers would encourage their child to hang on. But if the choice is wet trousers or a pee in the bush, it's hardly the crime of the century. What a lot of fuss over nothing.
It's not as if you saw children peeing everywhere all the time...

OP: YANBU - the woman is clearly barking.

In general I don't like it when you see kids over the age of about 5 peeing in bushes in parks. In my local park there are public toilets and people (mostly young boys but not always) still pee in bushes! The best one was when I saw someone encouraging their son to pee up a wall - It was the wall to the public toilets! Hmm I know that if they are desperate it is much better than they wet themselves but if it happens regularly (ie every day after school) then that isn't on IMO unless there is a medical reason. They need to be taught to wait or that they must go before leaving school.

Wee is sterile: Fact.

That would be the least of my worries, think of all the other animal faeces that could be on the wheels of your buggy- pigeon poo etc. Now that's disgusting. Not human wee.

BonniePrinceBilly · 08/10/2010 15:40

Not a fact actually. Wee is sterile when its inside, however on its journey through the equipment it can pick up bacteria, anything, before it gets to the destination. So not so sterile then.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 08/10/2010 15:57

Oh I like "wash the wheels". That's fab Grin

Mumcentreplus · 08/10/2010 23:20

Most parents dont want to allow their children to pee in public but sometimes you get caught short..dont get the outrage..talking of 'washing the wheels'..apparently its lawful for a male to urinate in public, providing its on the rear back wheel of his car.Grin dunno how true that is tho..

chipmonkey · 08/10/2010 23:35

OP that woman was barking and some people on this thread are not a whole lot better! FGS it's only a bit of wee!

spiritedaway · 08/10/2010 23:43

I'd rather mine pissed in a nice clean bush than the shit encrusted public toilets found in some parks. That woman sounds sick btw.

I don't know if a child can urinate in a policeman's hat but i know that legally a pregnant woman can, so that may be an option worth looking into.

Oh come on thesecondcoming - crack a grin, see if you can! Wink

salizchap · 09/10/2010 16:14

YANBU- the woman was being totally OTT.

I don't like seeing kids peeing outside in the bushes or wherever, but in an emergency most parents have had to chose between letting DC pee on a tree or wet themselves. In this case it's ok.
