to think Mothercare are threatening MNHQ ?

cumfy · 04/10/2010 17:12

There is a current AIBU thread which originally had the title:

to be absolutely furious with c&&&ing mothercare?? (sanitized)

Within an hour or so after I emailled their PR dept highlighting the poor customer service detailled therein, the thread title was changed to:

to be absolutely furious with &&&&&&& mothercare??

My interpretation is that Mothercare tried to get the thread pulled, but instead MNHQ agreed to amend the title
Coincidence:o

Note there are many <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/+intitle:cunting&num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=opera&hs=EvS&rls=en-GB&prmd=v&filter=0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">AIBU threads with cunting still in the title; so seems unlikely this was simply a "language" issue.

Thanks for passing this on Geraldine.

But why do MNHQ need to act as Mothercare's mouthpiece ?

These are a multinational and An Award-Winning PR & Social Media Consultancy, with a specific brief to:

develop a positive narrative for Mothercare in these important parenting blogs, forums and social network groups

Do they really need MNHQ to hold their hand ?

They, as I understand, have a "Mothercare" account here and could have joined the conversation if they so chose.

This approach has now facilitated them conveniently avoiding any awkward questions about their customer care in general or what arrangements have been arrived at regarding LacyLeggins freedom to speak further about this matter.

DanceInTheDark · 07/10/2010 17:54

They pride themselves on their customer service.....what customer service??!!

They should have joined here and posted like the Asdabot did.

ProfYaffle · 07/10/2010 17:58
Hmm

Shoddy.

Friend of mine has just found out she is pg. I've copied the other thread to her and told her to avoid Mothercare.

edam · 07/10/2010 18:52

V. good point, Cumfy.

scottishmummy · 07/10/2010 21:37

i dont shop mc since they delivered broken incomplete order...and blamed me.had real jip off them

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/10/2010 21:45

Gah that is such a bullshit response from Mothercare - typical of them not giving a shit.

WhatTheWhat · 07/10/2010 22:34

I love it when so many people share my hatred of Mothercare.
Let's list the reasons we hate cnuting Mothercare:
1 - 'service desk' = long queues, no service
2 - expensive
3 - ruined the ELC when they bought it
4 - stereotyping in their clothing and products that goes beyond even remotely 'sweet' and into the realms of social engineering, to say nothing of the omnipresent pink/blue divide
5 - terrible, and I mean terrible nursing bras
6 - messy shops
7 - disorganised displays - where the HELL is that product...?
8 - staff that (with occasional exceptions) just do not give a stuff about anyone
9 - too few staff = too long queues
10 - nowhere for pg women to 'sit-n-queue', no queue system for (the one or two) assistants (for about 50 people) and no ticket system, so everyone ends up hovering and eyeing each other up
11 - terrible reputation on MN
12 - that sinking feeling when you walk towards a store
13 - that sinking feeling when you leave a store, knowing something in your bag will prove to be crap
14 - terrible quality on the clothing - straps that break, buttons that are too small for the holes so the clothes gape open, elastic that isn't, etc etc
15 - "Mothercare" - what about the poor Dads???
OK, that last one was stretching is but 14 reasons not to are enough!
(Or are they.....)

PS - cumfy - I just love your posts.

lets also add broken incomplete order the nursing chair broken and incomplete cotbed...and blamed me

threat of a solicitor letter and sale of goods act soon sweetened their demeanour

and and they threw my neighbours order into my garden.it got water damaged as it rained all day

tattycoram · 08/10/2010 08:54

Whatthewhat - may I add to your list.....

capable of building a big brand new out of town store with no toilets

perfect for someone shopping at 37 weeks pregnant with a three year old in tow

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 08/10/2010 09:00

Come on folks mn are not on a mission to teach mothercare a lesson or to be their mouthpiece (op you asked if they had resolved the issue)

I hate mothercare but for the one simple fact that for a shop for babies and families why can't I drive my pushchair through the shop without getting to a bit that is too narrow and having to turn around. Totally proves they are not cusotmer focused.

ReadMyLips · 08/10/2010 09:29

We're saving them a fortune in focus group work!

ILovePonyo · 08/10/2010 15:29

WhatTheWhat Your point 15 was the same point my dp made when I was telling him what a bad reputation cunting mothercare have here on mn! Grin

angelberry · 10/10/2010 00:49

Netmums love them...I think they're sponsored by them or something.

LacyLeggins · 10/10/2010 09:17

omg only just came accross this thread! i had no idea mothercare had contacted mnhq and asked for the 'cunting' to be removed!!!

it is infuriating that they have the time to respond to this thread, to ensure the 'cunting' is removed but can not spare time to resolve this issue with me and replace my pram!!!!!!!!

mothercare have still not given me a replacement and i am still left without my pram. it is currently being repaired as a matter of priority! (for the third time!!!) and already it has been over a week!!!

mothercare if you are redading this you absolutely disgust me! never ever again will i be shopping in any mothercare and im saying this as a mother of 3 dc under 5!!!

vbusymum1 · 10/10/2010 09:22

Thanks for updating us LL. I hope MNHQ are reading this as well, maybe next time they won't be so quick to be courteous.

I hope you eventually get some satisfaction

nannynick · 10/10/2010 09:58

They are still only offering a repair - FGS Mothercare... that isn't the way to resolve a problem. It's been repaired already, so that's the one chance gone... if the repair didn't sort it, aceept that it's a faulty product and return it to the manufacturer.

Does sale of goods act allow them to keep doing repairs? Anyone work in legal?

LacyLeggins · 10/10/2010 10:14

thankyou vbusy and nanny. i too hope mnhq are reading this.

tbh for me this has gone beyond the point of a faulty pram now. this has caused myself and my children much distress and money! my life is hectic enough with my 3 dc and i purchased this pram on the belief it would help to make our life that much easier. how very wrong i have been. the hours i have spent in mothercare, on the phone to them and the money regarding the phone calls, petrol ect has caused me so much unneeded stress.

i spent alot of money on this pram, believing it would last me until dc3 is at least 3. it didnt even manage the first two months!! mothercare you have a lot to answer for. basically i feel i have been robbed.

mothercare do not want to know about replacing the pram. i have tried every avenue possible. the only option i am left with now is to take them to the small claims court, but this could cost me more time, money and stress and to be honest i really dont have the money!

PavlovtheCat · 10/10/2010 10:15

I am so pleased that Mothercare feel that lls treatment is what they pride themselves on. I hope it won't be too long before they start noticing it in their pocket. am sure the papers will be interested eventually.

Oh and don't forget, those who really have had enough with MC, they own ELC too. I shall not be forgetting this when i get my christmas presents. As they did not take my own concerns seriously about a faulty product that damaged my child.

RubberDuck · 10/10/2010 10:20

Oh good grief.

MNHQ - can you PLEASE reinstate the 'cunting' it seems appropriate. Tell them it'll be removed only once they've given LacyLeggins a full refund for pram AND accessories.

Rindercella · 10/10/2010 10:25

LL, I am so shocked that Mothercare have failed so badly to recitify the situation.

"Mothercare prides itself on the service it offers to customers, but in the case of LacyLeggins we have not met those standards, for which we apologise.

"We have contacted LacyLeggins directly to deal with her complaint and rectify the issue."

Hmm Not really doing that are they?

Just confirms to me to avoid like the plague in the future. I bought a new pram yesterday, and thinking of this thread I went to John Lewis as I know if I do have any problems at least I will get decent customer care.

nannynick · 10/10/2010 10:31

Reinstate Cunting. Maybe then Mothercare will start to care.

I already try to avoid ELC given their toys are mostly all plastic. Pity sometimes well meaning people send a Mothercare/ELC giftcard.

thebrownstuff · 10/10/2010 10:44

It's just downright unreasonable to shop at mothercare. Overpriced, poor service etc.
Best to stick to John Lewis (I love how fantastic their service is)and the many other great parenting brands out there.

MC is certainly not living up to its name. Sorry for you LL, I hope it gets sorted soon.

I'm very disappointed that MN have seen fit to change the thread title. Not least because of the slippery slope of censorship, but also because they don't see fit to change the same type of swearing in thread titles when what should be more important stakeholders (MNers) complain. Hmm

ilovesprouts · 10/10/2010 10:47

"cunt" is a horrible word Grin

Brollyflower · 10/10/2010 11:47

MN Mothercare boycott anyone?
