To call the police and tell them I had a "vision"

I'm not crazy...I'm not someone who believes in phschics or ghosts...I'm the most basic and sensible person ever but this is too weird now and I need to get it out as much as get opinions.

About a year and a half ago I had an idea for a short story or play...and there were some very specific ideas and scenes which came to mind. The story, the characters and certain happenings were vivid. I kept trying to write it...I have had some success already with short stories and a play...so I thought ooh great...this one's a good one!

But I couldn't seem to do it justice. It haunted me...I would see the same scenes over and over and one of them was of a young woman who had been killed and was lying undiscovered between a fence and a wall near some wasteland. I knew it was in Manchester.

I know...it's grim. She'd been killed more than twenty years ago and I could see details in my mind right down to her clothing and I "knew" who had killed her....the names...and under what circumstances. I thought it was my "voice" developing as a writer. It may in fact be just that...

Then about...I think 6 months ago, a news story broke that the skeletal body of a woman had been found inbetween a wall and a fence in Manchester and there was a photograph of the clothing found as it had an unusual print....which whilst not the exact same print I "saw" in my idea, was very similar...It totally freaked me out.

I toyed with the idea of telling the police what had come to me...but I looked up how the Manchester police deal with so-called "Psychic evidence" and it didn't look like they would take it seriously. It said they did not take the calls seriously as they could waste precious time. I undestand tat so haven't called...but it's still unsolved and they don't know who she i and it niggles me! What shall I do? After a while I kept googling to see if they had found out her identity...or any other info...but no. I feel like it could be a coincidence...but what if it's not? I can't say the names that came to me on here incase they are real...what shal I do? Try to foget it?

I have had other occurrences which could be considered a bit phychic but I have always dismissed them as coincidences...they were not really "big" like this.

Oh lord where to start, write them a note including the names and leave it. If you carry on you are going to look mad.

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:10

Do you really think I should? What if they waste time looking up some rubbish that's just my imagination?

MoralDefective · 01/10/2010 22:11

Oh good grief.................

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:11

I probably already look mad to come on here about it! Confused

WhatsThatDuckDoingThere · 01/10/2010 22:12

I wouldn't if I were you. They'll probably arrest you because you know too much Wink

scurryfunge · 01/10/2010 22:12

Just phone in the name anonymously.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 01/10/2010 22:13

Have you tried googling the names yourself?

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:13

Well what? MoralDetective...it's bothering me! I can't ask people I know can I? I just want opions...so I have yours...and Hedgeblunder thinks I may be mad...so...probably if I get more opinions like this I WILL forget it! Is it just a coincidence?

OP posts:
DuelingFanjo · 01/10/2010 22:14

who killed her?

Hedgeblunder · 01/10/2010 22:14

Just stick a note in their letter box and forget about it. But seriously, drop it. You'll end up upsetting people and coming across as an attention seeking nutter

BitOfFun · 01/10/2010 22:14

I would send them a note. Up to them if they go on a wild goose chase follow it up.

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:14

OldLadyKnowsNothing

I have tried...but they are not unusual...one of them did come up a lot in the area though.

it might be an idea to contact people who have more experience in things like this - am having a goole for you.

MissDolittle · 01/10/2010 22:15

Do you have details about the dead woman or just the killer?

Hedgeblunder · 01/10/2010 22:15

I didn't sag you are mad- just if you keep on about it you will look it

bigstripeytiger · 01/10/2010 22:15

You could let the police have the names? That should be easy enough for them to look into or know if it is anything they have encountered previously.

Is there any possibility that any of this could be remembered from something rather than imagined?

madonnawhore · 01/10/2010 22:15

I remember seeing that on Crimewatch. Didn't they figure out the victim was French or something?

Alikersh · 01/10/2010 22:15

Google... sorry, I hate laptop keyboards!!

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:15

Drop what? The thread? I'm not seeking attention...just opinons! I never thought I would have a dillema like this!

OP posts:
Concordia · 01/10/2010 22:16

i agree just give the names and leave it.
i hope you get a a bit more of a sense of peace about the whole thing too.

edam · 01/10/2010 22:16

Yes it's just a coincidence but if you really want to get this off your chest, then write them a letter. Then it's up to the cops whether they check the names you mention or put it on the nutters pile. (Sorry but YKWIM.)

AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:17

Miss Dolittle...the killers. More than one.

No Madonnawhore...this one is unsolved.

OP posts:
AwfulMary · 01/10/2010 22:19

Lol Edam! The Nutters Pile! Oh well...I probably will drop them a note then...at least then if the names are in their radar they may check...if not...no harm done. I will hide my nutter thread soon....dont want to be a pain.

MoralDefective · 01/10/2010 22:19

Please..the word is psychic

Armi · 01/10/2010 22:19

FFS. You do not know who the killer is (unless you have a guilty secret which you have unconsciously (or otherwise) repressed). It's entirely possible that you are experiencing retrospective falsification, a non-voluntary altering of a memory to make it fit a particular circumstance. It's possible you had a dream that was similar to this situation but it's also possible that it wasn't quite as similar as you think it was, because your mind - which loves creating links and patterns because that's how our minds are - has adjusted itself accordingly.

Do not approach the police. They have enough to do.
