To call the police and tell them I had a "vision"

I'm not crazy...I'm not someone who believes in phschics or ghosts...I'm the most basic and sensible person ever but this is too weird now and I need to get it out as much as get opinions.

About a year and a half ago I had an idea for a short story or play...and there were some very specific ideas and scenes which came to mind. The story, the characters and certain happenings were vivid. I kept trying to write it...I have had some success already with short stories and a play...so I thought ooh great...this one's a good one!

But I couldn't seem to do it justice. It haunted me...I would see the same scenes over and over and one of them was of a young woman who had been killed and was lying undiscovered between a fence and a wall near some wasteland. I knew it was in Manchester.

I know...it's grim. She'd been killed more than twenty years ago and I could see details in my mind right down to her clothing and I "knew" who had killed her....the names...and under what circumstances. I thought it was my "voice" developing as a writer. It may in fact be just that...

Then about...I think 6 months ago, a news story broke that the skeletal body of a woman had been found inbetween a wall and a fence in Manchester and there was a photograph of the clothing found as it had an unusual print....which whilst not the exact same print I "saw" in my idea, was very similar...It totally freaked me out.

I toyed with the idea of telling the police what had come to me...but I looked up how the Manchester police deal with so-called "Psychic evidence" and it didn't look like they would take it seriously. It said they did not take the calls seriously as they could waste precious time. I undestand tat so haven't called...but it's still unsolved and they don't know who she i and it niggles me! What shall I do? After a while I kept googling to see if they had found out her identity...or any other info...but no. I feel like it could be a coincidence...but what if it's not? I can't say the names that came to me on here incase they are real...what shal I do? Try to foget it?

I have had other occurrences which could be considered a bit phychic but I have always dismissed them as coincidences...they were not really "big" like this.

But the Police have to follow up on all lines of enquiry. Checking out a couple of names won't kill them, I am not a believer in this stuff either but.....

Giddyup. You're right. I got an A in physics and a lot of old godd it did me too. Well actually it did do me some good I think. It installed a bullshit detector on my head and enabled me to think rationally. And although I haven't really read the OP post, don't you believe the empiricists when they say that things are as they say,, because they have issues too (usually ego based)

I also think psychics are peddling twaddle. I have, however, had a few dreams in the distant past which then came true. Weird. But I sort of like to think this might be connected to string theory, and that I've somehow briefly entered another dimension. Which neatly links physics to psychics .

Oh FFS, people claiming to have psychic powers are either con artists, nutters or well meaning idiots. THe OP is probably in the latter category and would be best advised to forget about it.

Awful Mary - all you have here is coincidence. There are some really remarkable tales of coincidence but looking at them rationally, mathematically, the only truly remarkable thing would be if conincidence didn't exist.

OP, I know somebody who has vision type things apparently.

They saw a vision regarding a news story, a very famous one at that. Shre 'saw' names, places the lot.

Like you OP, the person I know found out that the police doesn't take this psychic stuff seriously and also if it was wrong it'd be a huge waste of police time.

So what they did was write it all down as they 'saw' it and keep it in a drawer somewhere. Then if the case is ever solved (it is still ongoing) they can check their details and know theywerewrong whether it was correct or not.

At least this way, OP, you are getting off your chest. Write it down and lay it to rest.

I think you should hire a PI. If it turns out to be a waste of time and money, at least it's a waste of your time and money.

I would call crimestoppers and leave it at that, it is after all what they are there for. You wont be wasting police time unless they think it may be relevant.

Don't do it

Every time a child disappears the police have to take 100s of phone calls from time wasting loons who've had visions and dreams and are convinced they know where they are.

OP, i bet you wish you'd never asked lol!

i really hope that you can manage to write it all down as you remember and hand it in or ring it in to crimestoppers/police.

you need closure for yourself - this has been going on for a long time, and your still in a limbo state of what is the right thing to do...

if you don't, you're always going to be wondering 'what if', and for someone whose not even linked to the crime itself must be horrible for you!

I would keep it to yourself but I am very sceptical that psychic powers exist. Of all the things that have happened over the last 20 years it would be unusual if you hadn't had thoughts that bore some similarity to a few of them.

I would tell police/crimestoppers because maybe just maybe the fact you had these vivid dreams is maybe you possibly overheard something without really realising it? And it was all there in your subconcious and came through in your dreams. That wouldn't be impossible, so based on the tiny tiny tiny tiny chance it's anything like that, I'd pass on any details.

I would contact the police with the details you think you know.

I dont believe in psychic-ness at all, but you could well have heard information somewhere in real life and subconciously ignored it until it popped up in your dream. If theres a chance that anything you know is accurate, it wont hurt to pass it on to the relevant people.

I'm a little sceptical about 'psychic powers' but don't think it will do any harm to pass this information on.

It will hopefully do the op some good too and she may be able to move on from this.
