This isn't a joke. Since having 3 huge babies,(last one was nearly 11 lbs), my inner fanjo lips have turned a hideous grey/brown colour and hang down about 2 inches outside the outer ones. I just think they look vile. I have only just realised that you can have an op to have them "trimmed". On the same day that I read about this, I read a description in the novel I was reading of a woman's bits, describing "the dark red bud enclosed by the pink petals". It was such a contrast with the way mine look. It's not as though I go about flashing my fanjo at everyone but I have to see it in the shower, going to the loo etc and I hate it. I mentioned the possibility of getting it "fixed" to a friend who plans to have surgery done to everything - boobs, face, tummy etc and she gave me this lecture about how it's totally misogynistic etc. I find this really hypocritical. What's the difference between a boob job and a fanjo job? I probably won't ever actually go through with it but just wondered what people thought.

I think if you took 100 women all of our lady bits would look different.
However if they really disturb you and is bothering you day to day then I would absolutely go ahead and speak to your GP to see whats available.

I have botox, no one notices, except me, and thats fine because I only do it for me so I dont see lots of lines when I look in the mirror which depresses me. DH didnt even know I was having it until I told him when I was drunk Grin

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 14:24

BalloonSlayer - Just clicked on that link. Thanks. Have always thought mine was pretty hideous. Now realise they are all pretty hideous Grin

mrspear · 30/09/2010 14:25

my inners have always hung outside my outers - so your not alone. As this has always been the case i have accepted it however if you can't then do something. Although i think talking it about it with a professional should be the first step

Iggi999 · 30/09/2010 14:29

I've just thought of an after-dinner activity for the mumsnet xmas meet-up...

bobs · 30/09/2010 14:37

Oh God this is why I love MN - it always makes me ROFL. I hasten to add that I empathasize - I've always had hangy-downy flaps and used to be worried that no man would be able to find his way "in" Shock
Om Emb. Bodies they made a really good job of that woman and it looked really neat afterwards - just a bit of local anaesthetic and a knife/scissors I think (ouch!!!!!) and some discomfort after.
I'd say if it's a priority for you, go for it! Smile

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 14:42

Why the hell, if you had an issue with your flaps, would you go on Embarrassing Bodies and show the whole country??? Confused
Mind you can't understand how they get anyone on that show...

bobs · 30/09/2010 14:43

Prob 'cos they get it done for free???

Squitten · 30/09/2010 14:43

I can't think of anything worse than takng a scalpel to my lady bits (a tear during this birth is so much scarier for me than my previous c-section!) so I wouldn't do anything unless I was in physical discomfort.

Saying that, I think if you are feeling uncomfortable, can afford to fix it and are willing to take on the subsequent pain/discomfort and the potential risks then do it!

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 14:44

Is it private treatment then? Surely they would also be entitled to NHS treatment? Without the public humiliation.

mosschops30 · 30/09/2010 14:47

surely you can have it done on the NHS if its affecting you psychologically, much like a tummy tuck

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 14:50

You can definitely get it done on the NHS. Not sure what the criteria are but would have thought if its bad enough to be on Embarrassing Bodies then its bad enough to qualify.

bobs · 30/09/2010 14:51

I really don'r know - but I get the feeling my doctor wouldn't be too keen on me having it done on NHS, bur then it's not affecting me psychologically! Tummy tuck instead pls, so I can get jeans to fit Grin

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 14:54

Tummy tuck, lipo, boob lift...
Would never be brave enough to do any of it though!

scaryteacher · 30/09/2010 15:00

I think, when 6500 UK girls undergo Female Genital Mutilation each year, that worrying about what your labia look like is a bit precious.

HalfTermHero · 30/09/2010 15:00

And yet men are not beating themselves up about cock girth size and length; penis extensions did not really catch on, did they? At least they are nowhere near as mainstream as say boob jobs.

MollysChambers · 30/09/2010 15:04

I think cock size is an issue for some men tbh. Women don't care though, do they? I think men are the same. Don't care about size of boobs or appearance of fanjo - just want to get their hands on them!

diddl · 30/09/2010 15:06

"I've just thought of an after-dinner activity for the mumsnet xmas meet-up"

Pin the piss flaps on the MNer?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/09/2010 15:08

I must say I don't like the look of mine - never have - but, just as I wasn't born with the right attributes to make a supermodel, I wasn't born with the currently desired attributes of a porn star either.

Who would I be able to show the results of this risky and hideously painful operation to? DH certainly isn't bothered, although I've never hinted that he should be.

It wouldn't affect what I wear or anything I do. I suppose I'd be able to admire them in the mirror but what other benefit would there be?

Feeling proud when I go for a smear test (like the nurse cares anyway)?

HalfTermHero · 30/09/2010 16:20

It's funny how big tits and big cocks are desirable but not big flaps! Confused

BigOfNoorks · 30/09/2010 16:27

Big tits not desirable to own as the welts on my shoulder will tell you Grin.

AnyFucker · 30/09/2010 16:29

hth...who says big flaps are not desirable ??

is it only a pornified culture where it appears they are not ?

proper men understand that having a fanjo like a 6yo is not real, nor even something that we women should be aspiring to !

I rather think men like (in a real woman) a good, proper, lusty fanny Grin

ditavonteesed · 30/09/2010 16:31

well I have to thank you, I now know what my fanny looks like and it is hideous, I was happy in the illusion that it was amazing (dh seems to think it is) and now I have bloody well looked, there was no need for me to ever do that Angry
now i want a pretty fanny.

HalfTermHero · 30/09/2010 16:31

I agree,AF. I quizzed my dh on flap fashion and desirability lat night and he commented that he has not yet seen a fanny that he doesn't like, lol. He also added that even with flaps to the knees it would be fine with the lights off!
