Obviously not to playgroups etc, but I've got a baby at home and don't think I can cope otherwise. Is there anywhere we can safely go where there won't be lots of kids/pregnant women?

removing ss's posts from that thread seems pointless and cruel tbh, regardless of the validity of the poster.

LadyBiscuit · 02/10/2010 20:14

If SS is making it up (as MNHQ are not that sure about, given all the previous not-entirely-true personas), then is it not hugely offensive to the genuinely bereaved to leave them standing?

I suspect that's why they've deleted them - erring on the side of caution.

And I have no idea if her grief is real or not. I really don't know what to think, am just a bit WTF about this whole thing.

mumbar · 02/10/2010 20:14

I've asked MNHQ as well - its your safe haven, your special place of understanding and empathy and it once made sense for you - all it is now is another thing that makes no sense to you all Sad

Please MNHQ, could we have an update?

PrincessFiorimonde · 02/10/2010 20:15

I have read several of SassySusan's posts, e.g. in bereavement, in feminism/women's rights and in Aibu, and I thoroughly disagree that she had a different 'voice' across different threads.

I have never doubted her story.

I agree with the posts here from ladies from the bereaved mothers thread. Peterpansmum - I am so sorry for any suggestion that you have in any way invented your personal knowledge of SassySusan. I am so sorry for your distress, for Shabba's, and for others'.

Deemented's post today at 18.24.06 summed up a lot.

MNHQ says: "we are just sure that she [SassySusan]'s been banned four times by us for causing trouble over the last year or so. Each time she has come back with a new persona and started inflammatory threads". Can I just ask this - having banned a troll, why would you allow someone using the same IP etc. to re-register and use the site again? Don't you automatically flag up those details and so automatically ban the person from re-registering with the same details? If the person concerned is not using the same IP etc., how do you "know" it's the same person?

This all just becoming more and more bizarre. Huge unmumsnetty hugs to all on the bereavement threads. None of you deserve shit like this.

Tootlesmummy · 02/10/2010 20:33

I've not been in the god awful position of losing a child and I feel for all those that have.

However, tonight I feel very sad.

QOD · 02/10/2010 20:33

I'm confused, I thought an IP address located where you are eg your home??

Portofino · 02/10/2010 20:34

Here

mumbar · 02/10/2010 20:36

Please can someone tell me what an IP address is and how its traced and then I have something interesting to point out.

Thanks in advance from a technophobe

Pixie that's it. I think the whole point of CP has now been lost and people who have lost children have been hurt.

mumbar · 02/10/2010 20:43

So I don't get how the WWC and Sassysusans IP are the same when according to her blog shes been in France.

"An IP address locates where you are, but if a poster has more than one account on the same computer, then the IP address for both accounts is the same."

I am a technophobe and do not understand IP adresses etc. However, I frequent another forum. To cut a long story short, a poster had started to post a story in installments but then stopped short. I was approached by moderator to ask if it was me as I had the same IP address - it wasn't me (and this was a specific forum) and no one who had access to my laptop could have made those posts as they didn't have knowledge of the subject discussed.

BrianAndHisBalls · 02/10/2010 20:49

aren't ip addresses dynamic though??

pixie - i agree with you - i feel totally sad tonight, have been following thread from the start and can't now get this whole mess out of my head.

Regardless of trolling or not from ss, solidgoldbrass your posts were disgusting.

Im really sorry for all of you from the bereaved threads, I hope you can all still find comfort together.

mumbar · 02/10/2010 20:50

Oh OK that answers it thankyou Pixie. I really didn't want to cotemplate her blog being fake as her being a troll but was confused about how the 2 things could be true iyswim. Sad Confused

So if you take your own computer abroad or use a mobile with internet the IP will remain the same??

nameymcnamechange · 02/10/2010 20:50

Did she say anywhere else other than on this thread that Catherine's death was attributable to chicken pox?

No, namey, I don't think she did. It's described as an 'overwhelming infection' on the blog.
