Obviously not to playgroups etc, but I've got a baby at home and don't think I can cope otherwise. Is there anywhere we can safely go where there won't be lots of kids/pregnant women?

OP posts:
arses · 02/10/2010 16:43

The outed person didn't use her real name AFAIK.

fizzledrizzle · 02/10/2010 16:44

Shabba - I would have thought mn would have told Sassy why they banned her? What was their explanation to her?

DirtyMartini · 02/10/2010 16:44

I mean, I know there were people who met Dizzymare(sorry to sound like I am comparing Sassy to her, not really my intention). I suppose it is possible for people to meet trolls in RL and be taken in.

But if people have met her and know her properly and have been to her child's grave ... Jesus. I can't believe all that could be fabricated, surely not.

There must be some more to this. I don't, though, think it is just MNHQ trying to "shut her up" for no reason. I can't believe they would do that.

DirtyMartini · 02/10/2010 16:45

xpost sorry

zeno · 02/10/2010 16:45

Oh My God. MNHQ you really need to come up with some backup for your seemingly slanderous accusation, or apologise fast.

I'm gutted, upset and really astonished that for stating some strongly held views you can find yourself in a position of being publicly labelled a troll. Out of nowhere!

So much for being able to speak freely.

Maybe, just maybe, you may have felt like banning sassy for going over a line with some point, but stating that you have evidence she is a troll without explaining more fully is quite beyond comprehension.

I'm one of the bereaved parents who use the safe haven thread. I absolutely don't think that there is any possibility that she is not real and true and fucking broken hearted. You should have seen the rage I posted, in far less appropriate places, when my sister died, never mind when my dd died.

This is completely fucked up.

MN is the one single place I have found with a group of people who get how it is, and talk about it in safe place. MNHQ you have gone way beyond hurting sassy with this. You have holed us below the waterline - our little ship of souls trying desparately to keep one another from drowning.

I can't say anymore, am far too angry.

sethstarkaddersmum · 02/10/2010 16:45

I was almost wondering whether they have been too easily convinced by poor evidence because it would be lovely if bereaved parents didn't exist and none of their stories are true Hmm

arses · 02/10/2010 16:45

Me too, BalloonSlayer. Though sadly, unless everyone who posted here about losing a child due to chickenpox was also trolling, it doesn't change the fact that children can and do die of this illness. So the troll accusation may undo some of the good that was done by this thread Sad

I think she felt she was very easily identifiable, and so using her name over on SS's blog upset her.

I have said before and will say again, I don't think Avril was deliberately cruel or offensive here - clumsy maybe, but she did apologise - others didn't - especially SGB.

But this pales against the storm that has just broken here.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 02/10/2010 16:47

Also, given the info about Avril's PTSD etc, I am worrying about her, and hope that she is OK - does anyone know?

tholeon · 02/10/2010 16:47

I find this really upsetting just as someone who has read many of SS's posts and felt for her. She writes so eloquently about grief I can't believe she is making it up. I can't imagine how the bereaved mothers who know her better must feel. I am going right off Mumsnet...

It would be good of MHHQ could launch a campaign to educate the majority about the potential dangers to the vulnerable (or very unlucky) of common infections, not just chickenpox, but viruses which can cause common cold symptoms in the vast majority but prove life threatening or even fatal to others. RSV is one, which is dangerous to vulnerable babies. DS ended up in intensive care with the paraflu as a little baby, so I have done my germ research since... People won't stay in with cold symptoms, but if more of them washed their hands more often viruses would have less chance to multiply, and if they made an effort to stay away from the vulnerable that would also help. Then some good would come out of what started as an innocent question, and seems to have turned into something very sad.

arses · 02/10/2010 16:48

No, not the same person because I know Avril.. and will contact her to see how she is.

BalloonSlayer · 02/10/2010 16:49

Oh yes I know arses, I posted above about my friend's son.

shabbapinkfrog · 02/10/2010 16:49

Martini - nobody met Dizzymare as far as I can remember...she re-appeared a couple of times under different names, but nobody ever met her!

Just wanted to answer a poster who said earlier that Sassy changed her style of writing over different threads. My two threads I am on daily are the bereaved mums thread and the multiple births (D'ya ever) - on the bereaved mums thread I talk about my children and other peoples children and on the multiples thread - well Im a total loon!! Think we all post in different styles on different threads dont we?

fizzledrizzle · 02/10/2010 16:49

Maybe Sassy could enlighten people on her blog.

I do not think MNHQ are in the business of censorship without a valid reason.

fizzledrizzle · 02/10/2010 16:50

Shabba - did Sassy have any idea from MN as to the reason?

shabbapinkfrog · 02/10/2010 16:51

Fizzle up to the time we talked on the phone she hadn't had an explanation.....that may have changed since our conversation.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 02/10/2010 16:51

Thankyou for that, arses.

arses · 02/10/2010 16:54

Shit, I can't. She has vanished from fb Shock. I knew her from another forum.. How do you know if someone has deleted you or if they have deleted themselves from fb?

Good god what is going on? How awful

electra · 02/10/2010 16:56

I haven't read the whole thread but YABU - especially because chicken pox is so contagious. I kept all 3 of mine in the whole time until the spots had crusted over.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 02/10/2010 16:57

God - I just hope that Sassy and Avril are OK. Sad
