In our kitchen drawer is a mushroom brush. What the hell are they all about?
I find it easier to peel them
I suppose it is just more crap to fill a kitchen drawer with

"WTF is a mushroom brush??"

*MadreInglese" your question reminds me of my own wondering as to why "wedding cake" is in the dictionary, viz if you know what a wedding is and what a cake is you should be able to work it out for yourself. Grin

Surprise · 24/09/2010 14:23

LadyWellian Lidl are very good for avocadoes. Lots of flavour and you can often get ripe ones. Cost about 50p too.

Chil1234 · 24/09/2010 14:26

Second-place nomination. Those rubbery-bung vacuum-pump wine-stopper things so that the unused half bottle of wine will stay fresh for several days....

'unused wine'... now there's a novel idea.

MadreInglese · 24/09/2010 14:29

lol BalloonSlayer

yes the clue's in the title but why on earth would you need to brush mushrooms? Confused

cyteen · 24/09/2010 14:38

Yes, throwing them directly into the bin is a much more effective method of mushroom management.

Riddo · 24/09/2010 15:17

I threw my pizza wheel away years ago - scissors are the best thing

Galena · 24/09/2010 18:05

Scissors wouldn't work well for the deep pan I`ve just troughed my way through savoured.

euphrosyne · 24/09/2010 18:17

what about those boil watchers?

grumperina · 24/09/2010 19:00

Chil is a "giant cupcake" not just a normal-sized cake? Confused

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 24/09/2010 19:10

No, it comes in two parts -- one shaped like the base of the cupcake and the other like a giant swirl of frosting, thus.

missedith01 · 24/09/2010 19:12

You misunderstand. It's in case your mushroom wants to clean the floor. Grin

Vallhala · 24/09/2010 19:18

o: PMSL Missedith01.

ericshen · 24/09/2010 19:22

Pizza wheels are fantastic so I will not hear a bad word

About boiled eggs. Peel them while they are still hot then you can gently squeeze them into a rectangle block.
I do this when we have geusts for a salad tea
The look on there little faces when I tell them we get our eggs from a man who has chickens that lay square eggs

What about pastry brushes? They are crap and tend to leave the bristles on the pastry

hobgoblin - is it this??

wannabesybil · 24/09/2010 19:25

Lakeland, the home of kitchen p0rn.

When I dislocated both shoulders OH compensated by gadget shopping. We got...

Food processor
Bread maker
Ice cream maker
yogurt maker
sandwich toaster (used the least, and that is saying something)
mini chopper
steamer
pie maker
slow cooker (used the most, wouldn't be without it)

And more stuff I can't remember. The microwave bacon crisper was the most recent useless gadget. The chip maker was pretty poor as well.

I am desperately trying to avoid buying the Lakeland cupcake maker. I'll cave before new year.

I have very full gadget cupboards.

alemci · 24/09/2010 19:26

i like ice cream scoops. spoons may bend.

ericshen · 24/09/2010 19:29

DW has just informed me that she uses her mushroom brush for cleaning celery

I used to eat dirt as a child but there is something about the dirt on mushrooms that I find off putting

Too clean, ericshen?

IsThatTheTime · 24/09/2010 21:05

(sorry for killing the thread - if it helps, I have a cherry stoner, a honey dipper and I used to have one of those Lakeland pineapple corer thingies)

BusyMissIzzy · 24/09/2010 21:54

I have a mushroom brush! It was a wedding present. I also got a potato brush, which is a bit more useful. The mushroom brush has never been used.

thelunar66 · 24/09/2010 22:08

alemcii 'like ice cream scoops. spoons may bend.'

Are you Yuri Geller or how touch is your ice cream? Hmm

thelunar66 · 24/09/2010 22:09

Tough... i mean tough...

MrsRhettButler · 24/09/2010 22:11

is it wrong to secretly pine after that massive cupcake thing? Blush

sooo gonna do that square egg trick! i can't wait to see dd's face!! pmsl

pizza wheels are amazing! you can't use a knife on hot pizza, it drags all the cheese to one side...

JaynieB · 24/09/2010 22:18

No mushrooms brushes here, but we do have a strawberry huller which looks like a pair of tweezers and is regularly used.
The mini-chopper was ditched recently though.
Least used gadget though was an omelette maker - never came out of its box.

IsThatTheTime · 24/09/2010 22:26

Isn't an omelette maker just, like, a frying pan?
