to be on the verge of a breakdown after 3 days of single-parenting...

DH has been working long shifts for the last 3 days and as such, has not seen DS at all. I am KNACKERED.

I would like to take my hat off to single parents who do this day in day out. UTTER RESPECT.

Pass me the wine.

oh I'll bring the lemon and salt !!!!

cordonbleugh · 21/09/2010 20:33

cheers harimo. Everyone is entitled to moan. I was being pedantic about the wording. I shouldn't have been. I mean everything I have said, but I've apologised if I've come across the wrong way.

I love how people are complaining about the "roasting" the OP has had, and yet do exactly the same thing to me for daring to object to something, and to then continue to defend my reasoning.

And for the record, not once, not once, have I said that parenting as part of a couple is easier, and that non lp's have it so much easier, I've just said that it's different.

God knows, I'd find co-parenting a damn sight harder than being single! So I take my hats off to those of you with DP/DH's! Grin

mumbar · 21/09/2010 20:35

PMSL - I don't drink and yet here I am with virtual wine and tequila feeling pleased with some empathy from a stranger and getting virtually pissed Grin

Now I'll never call that a hard life Wink Grin

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 20:36

Sorry Xstitch - but I don't think your story is the norm.. (and thanks about DD... she is hardly ever ill, so I'm a bit concerned about her)

Ody - I have kids to look after, so will stick to the wine Grin

MistsAndMellow · 21/09/2010 20:37

These threads are well-meaning and always go pear-shaped in my considerable Grin experience. Don't worry OP.

xstitch · 21/09/2010 20:39

harimo is she managing to drink sips of water and skill going to the toilet ok? Sorry to hijack. Its horrible when dc aren't well isn't it?

mumbar · 21/09/2010 20:40

Thats a shame mists as I thought it was a lovely OP. Any insight into why they go pear shaped??

poshsinglemum · 21/09/2010 20:40

Ok. The advantages about being a single parent;

No compromises about parenting, no rows, no mil (!), no extra washing etc, no sex !

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 20:42

Yes, Xstitch, she has drunk some water and some milk tonight and has done a gazillion dirty (cant tell if they are wet or not) nappies. Yes, it is horrid when they aren't well.

I love threads when we share virtual wine (and tequila!) and nibbles (sooooo good for the figure!!) and agree that, while we all have different perspectives, we all can empathise... Grin

nameymcnamechange · 21/09/2010 20:42

Not harrassing you. I am just daring to object to something (your posts) and then defending my reasoning. I'm sure its irritating for you.

cordonbleugh · 21/09/2010 20:43

lol Grow up namey

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 20:45

EMPATHISE EMPATHISE EMPATHISE Grin

and share wine. Grin

nameymcnamechange · 21/09/2010 20:46

Lol bollocks.

xstitch · 21/09/2010 20:47

Just keep an eye on her harimo if she looks dehydrated like dry lips seems particularly unwell then call the Dr.

cordonbleugh · 21/09/2010 20:47

I started empathising a while ago harimo!

Namey just seems insistent on hanging around not letting go. Do you do this to all posters you disagree with namey?

I have pizza on the way, who wants some?

LadyBiscuit · 21/09/2010 20:47

Shut up you two and have a tequila slammer (on a Tuesday Shock :o)

Glad DD is OK too Smile

mumbar · 21/09/2010 20:49

Oh no Ody, I think in the virtual pub of emapathy you can drink twice as much while BFding - its the unspoken rule Grin

Morloth · 21/09/2010 20:49

I have very expensive tequila that aforementioned husband picked up on his last business trip - there are advantages to this semi-single parenting! Wink

mumbar · 21/09/2010 20:51

Well next time tell him to get 2 bottles!!! Tell him you need more in case you dare offload on MN Wink

cordonbleugh · 21/09/2010 20:51

semi-single parenting, that's what it should be called Wink Grin

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 20:55

What sort of pizza is it? Grin

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 20:57

ANd, out of interest, DD is sleeping soundly Smile Thankyou for all the comments / thoughts. I shall keep an eye on her during the night.

Morloth · 21/09/2010 20:58

Thinking of it, I get the best of both worlds. As DH is away so often I get sole possession of the remote control and we do things MY way around here. But he makes lots of money and then comes home and I get a good shag as well.

He does put his plate on the bench above the dishwasher though...
