to believe some if not all of the 9/11 conspiracy theories

NOTE: This is not meant to be offensive and if you suffered as a result of 9/11 you have my deepest sympathies it was a terrible event however it was caused.

Having watched a few documentaries on the conspiracy theories I am partially if not completely convinced all was not as it seemed. The fact that many witnesses that saw/heard things that didn't tie in with the official version have since died in suspicious circumstances doesn't help!

Probably not the best day to post this, mrsunreasonable...sorry, but your 'I don't mean to offend' disclaimer doesn't cut it. Inappropriate for people in mourning over it.

nancydrewrocked · 11/09/2010 15:08

Bad taste today.

mrshess · 11/09/2010 15:31

I think you are extremley unsensitive to bring this topic up today.
I still cry thinking about this day so many people lost their lives

AncientStarlight · 11/09/2010 15:43

OP I think you should ask for the thread to be pulled, the timing is inappropriate to say the least.

HowsTheSerenity · 11/09/2010 15:53

Why is it insensitive? It has been eleven years since the event. People are affected by different events in differnt ways. If it was last week or last year then you may have a point but it was over a decade ago.
It is a part of our history, History needs to be (and should be) discussed.

The poster has every right to ask the question.

9 years actually

Sidge · 11/09/2010 16:05

It was nine years ago today, not eleven.

I think it's natural to ponder the event on the anniversary of that day as long as it's thoughtful and respectful.

DetectivePotato · 11/09/2010 16:05

I'm not convinced either tbh. There seems to be something not quite right, particularly about GB's reaction when he was told about it.

DrNortherner · 11/09/2010 16:09

I don't think the OP has been insensitive at all. There has been loads of 9/11 related stuff on TV recently, so, ovbioulsy it is a time for us all to think about what happenned.

It was a truly horrific day, and I hope to God I will never witness anything like it again, however, I don't believe the conspiracy theories. All those people were murdered in cold blood by extremists, nothing more to it than that imo.

George Bush alt not Gordon Brown

HowsTheSerenity · 11/09/2010 16:19

Oops sorry. Cannot count today.
GB - GWB - George W Bush

I went to conferences about this with FEMA and other emergency service organisations. There are a lot of things that do not add up (jets being scrambled etc). A lot of the theories are crap though.

5Foot5 · 11/09/2010 16:19

George Bush

nannylocal · 11/09/2010 16:20

errr...I think he means George Bush

Hulababy · 11/09/2010 16:20

How on earth can you believe all, or even nearly all, of the conspiracy theories? Several of them contradict one another. Not all the theories presented say the same things you know!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 11/09/2010 16:20

YABVVVVVU

9/11 conspiracies are about as grounded in fact as Holocaust Denial.

I'm glad SOME people have been able to see my post for what it is. Topical subjects are always going to be brought up at the anniversary otherwise it just wouldn't be topical. Also I did mention in my previous post that what happened that day was absolutely terrible. I am not disputing that thousands of people died that day and for them, their families and the wider world that is horrific. Really I was just hoping to gain an idea about other peoples view on the subject of what actually happened that day and the inconsistencies of various things several key people i.e Bush, Chaney etc said about events. I was hoping for a calm and reasoned discussion of various view point rather than knee-jerk calls for the thread to be pulled. I made it very clear from the title what the subject matter of this thread was and therefore hoped people who would be upset by this subject would stay away for their own sake.

I agree, all is not what it seems. I am not disrespecting the tragedy of all those deaths that day. I think its honourable to question whys and wherefors.

There is a mawkish tendancy to over emote in this country that i detest. Minutes silence for every tragedy, whatever the scale. What worries me about that is it can stop people from asking questions, and lets not pretend the governments of the the world tell us plebs everything.

Probe away. You dont need to stand in a shopping mall in a minutes silence to care.

RunawayWife · 11/09/2010 16:30

Having spent some time in the USA I can tell you that the Americans have their own conspiracy theories.
One chap was adamant that the CIA were responsible and that the Gold reserves that were in a vault under the towers was moved out two days before the attack!!!!!!

Did feel like asking him if they were transported by Elvis and Princess Di but managed to curb the urge.

perfumedlife · 11/09/2010 16:31

And I write that as someone who lost a friend in 9/11. I want to know the real, irrefutable truth of his death.

mrsunreasonable · 11/09/2010 16:39

Ok maybe I should clarify which conspiracies I believe.

I believe that:

The twin towers and building 7 were brought down by controlled explosions

There were bombs in the towers as several witnesses say lobby of 2nd tower to be hit was destroyed by bomb before plane even hit. (Several of these witnesses died in suspicious circumstances following 9/11)

The second plane to hit was not an American Airlines flight as several witnesses including news guy in a helicopter at the time so VERY good view of plane say it was grey in colour and had no windows in the side. (this news guy was one of the witnesses to die in suspicious circumstances after 9/11)

The Pentagon was not hit by a 757 as the damage just does not match that which would be caused.

The plane that crashed into a field was shot down - Dick Chaney actually said this!

I find it suspicious that the Military was always in charge of shooting down hijacked planes until earier that year Dick Chaney decided he should be in charge. Also on the day of 9/11 the people incharge of shooting down hijacked planes were stood down for the morning as there was a training excercise involving hijacked planes.

I for one welcome our new Lizard overlords.

crisproll2 · 11/09/2010 16:43

mrsunreasonable am intersted in what you are saying. Who do you think was responsible then? In other words, who decided to bring down the towers and why?
